Since you want low weight and long battery life, you might want to consider eGPU solution. I dunno where got sell eGPU but I can recommend some affordable options with TB3

Lenovo Yoga 730 13 customize
Lenovo Ideapad 720s 13 Intel 81BV000BMJ / CMJ
Lenovo Yoga S730 81J0005LMJ / 81J0005KMJ

Hi thanks for your help and suggestion, I saw your reviews and compilation of laptops on LTT’s forum. And the ROG Zephyrus S and the Gigabyte Aero 15w caught my eyes. I noticed the ROG has really low battery life, should I avoid it altogether?

they increased the price...before that it was a bit overpriced but still OK if apply 15% discount

Hi,

Any suggestions for secondary school student to purely work on word/excel etc? Looking for cheapest laptop with acceptable reliability. I can get around 1k - 1.2k via lazada/shopee but i don't know if those are goods or not. Thanks.
*
If you're purely going to be only using word/basic excel (excel can be very demanding), a RM 1000 to RM 1200 will work.

However I will strongly recommend getting something like a Lenovo Ideapad 330S at around RM 2000. This is because you never know when your needs will change and a RM 1000 ish laptop will quickly show it's weakness outside of the most basic tasks.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S does come with G-Sync screen, that why battery life shorter. So far good gaming laptop with thin profile body built and long battery life will be Razer Blade 15, Gigabyte Aero 15W and MSI GS 65.

Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a new laptop since my old one (Toshiba Satelite C640) is showing signs of quitting. The following are my budgets and specs I'm looking for:

Budget: 2-3k? I'm earning 1k+ for now and paying PTPTN, so if I can pay installments the better

What I will use the laptop for:
1. I'm a teacher so I often use Libreoffice writer and GIMP for my photoshop needs
2. Dual boot to Ubuntu for android kernel building
3. Occasionally download and watch movies (I render them in 60fps real-time with SVP but that's a perk really)

Additional stuff:
1. HDMI support
2. CD/DVD reader/burner (very low priority)
3. Bluetooth
4. At least 250gb space. I'm not particular about the weight but light is preferable.
4. A laptop that will last a long time, and good battery life as well. I prefer to use it till it breaks rather than buy new stuff just because it's new.

I hope this is enough info to get a good recommendation, I can always give more info if needed.

Since you don't have preference on weight and battery life, I would suggest gaming/performance laptops

Commandos Glock 5 (Clevo NB50TK1)
Illegear Raven (TongFang GI5CN4E/5E)
Lenovo Legion Y530 customize (15% discount if you're a student)

Note that if you opt for i7 CFL CPU, it will run hotter. IMO i5 CFL CPU is decent enough

Need good sRGB display? (since you mentioned Photoshop) Any preference on display size?

Preferred max weight in kg and min battery life in hours? Need dual storage?

Note that no one can guarantee on longevity/QA/QC unless you go for premium business laptops/true mobile workstations

If you don't mind low sRGB display, no SSD (can upgrade), 3GB VRAM then it's a fine model

Mind 4k 30 fps? Or you prefer 60 fps?

Both, as long as they're not choppy when playing 4k movies

Good sRGB can be a preference, same goes for display. My only gripe is the glare I get sometimes.

I'm not sure of the weight, my old one was 2kg so around there would be nice. Dual storage isn't necessary as well.

For minimum battery life, 4-5 hours would be good.
