want to ask for commando glock 5 and raven, is there any problem for the i5-8400 / gtx1050ti variant like cooling, throttling, etc..

for the specs i wanted, y530 would cost me 4.5k after 15% discount, while raven and glock 5 would cost me 4k. significantly lower cost.. so im thinking to get either one..

of this 3 laptops, which is the best in terms of cooling/durability/after sales?? is y530 worth the additional 500?
*
No problem for the i5+1050TI variant (check my review)

Cooling performance (after undervolt+repaste):
CPU - Glock 5>Y530=Raven
GPU - Y530>Raven=Glock 5
Fan speed - Y530 (no manual tuning though)>Raven=Glock 5

Durability: You mean exterior build quality? If that's the case, Raven>Glock 5>Y530 (all are good)

Aftersales: Y530 has onsite warranty, Raven and Glock 5 need to bring back to shop (optional onsite also need to be sent back to shop)

Which Y530 spec you're looking at? Also, what's your budget? No preference on weight and battery life?

Hi I am using a MBP 13 2017 256gb. I saw some good deals on Microsoft Surface Laptop at RM5300 for an i7.

I've been using my MBP for nearly a year now but still can't really get used to it.

I find it hard sorting and renaming file names (photos). The process is longer than on my old laptop (Windows). I need to sort hundreds of property photos a few times a week. It take a lot of time on Windows and it takes a much longer time on Mac since the workflow is longer.

I don't have MS Word and Excel. Whenever clients send me files for me to amend, I will need to open up my old heavy laptop to work on the files.

The laptop so far is only good for me when I am surfing the net. Nothing more. I do love how it is blazing fast and never ever lags. Everything just seems to work every single time.

With Windows, I a worried it will lag after a while. And the Surface Laptop uses Alcantara leather. Not sure how it will hold up the time.

ps. I am going to start using Insta360 x camera so I need to take editing time and speed into account.

I would not recommend Macbook unless you need macOS

Why Surface laptop? There are cheaper yet decent options

Because of the build quality I guess.
I want something durable that can last me 4-5 years.
I travel a lot with the laptop.

Dell XPS is also something that I would like but it is way more expensive.

Do the new Windows (high end) laptops lag after a while like back in the days?

hmm u mention durability/exterior build quality y530 u rate it last among the 3. really? cause from youtube videos i see, for me looks like y530 had the best build quality among them lol. maybe video vs real life feeling is different idk..

this is the spec im looking at for y530/glock5/raven. no concern for weight and batt life. i think all 3 should be able to at least do 2 hours gaming and about 4 hours if not gaming right?

Processor : Intel Core i5-8300H Processor (8MB Cache, Up to 4.0 GHz)
Total Memory : 16GB(8+8) DDR4 2666MHz SODIMM
Graphic Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB DDR5
Display : 15.6" (396mm) FHD (1920x1080), anti-glare, LED backlight, IPS, 300 nits, 16:9 aspect ratio, 72% gamut, 144Hz
Hard Drive 1 : 1TB Hard Disk Drive, 7200RPM, 2.5", SATA3
Hard Drive 2 : 128GB Solid State Drive M.2 2242 PCIe
WiFi Wireless LAN Adapters : Lenovo Wireless (2x2)AC/A/B/G/N,

so base on above specs, lenovo after 15% discount is 4.5k while glock 5 and raven comes to about 4k..

Build quality of Surface products isn't that great

Lag? As long as you have 8GB RAM and SSD then it's fine

1. Budget : Max RM3000
2. Usage : Mainly on internet, youtubes and office works ( Office & excels ) , no gaming.
3. Memory: 4-8GB RAM
4. Harddisk: OS must run with SSD and additional HDD as media storage
5. CPU: No preferential
6. GPU: IPS display
7. Weight : around 2kg.
8. Battery life: Roughly can last for 5 hours.

Options:
1) Lenovo Ideapad 330s-15IKB 81F500S6MJ
4GB, 256GB SSD, AMD Radeon 540 2GB (+ RAM +HDD in future)

2) Lenovo Ideapad 330s-14IKB 81F400G1MJ
4GB, 128GB SSD, Integrated Graphic ( + RAM +HDD in future)

3) Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G-52L8
4GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD+1TB SATA HDD , Nvidia GeForce MX150 ( +RAM in future)

4) Acer Swift 3 SF315-51-54ZB
8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD | Intel HD Graphics 620 ( non-upgradable )

Hi, i have shortlisted to above few models in mind but in dilemma in choosing which to buy. My understanding is that graphic card is mostly for gaming purpose. It is not necessary for office work, internet and watching videos. So graphic card may not really a necessary. So, hereby would like to seek advice from sifu here.

I had viewed them in actual physical product , feel that Acer Swift 3 looks more premium and with glossy screen panel .But have some concerns and are as following;

1) Is Swift 3 glossy panel would be not practical in long hours use ? Like maybe having eye strain or distraction by light reflection.

2) Acer swift 3 overall seems like better in performance(all built in and soldered) and build quality but can't upgrade in future. Is it more worth to incurred more budget for Swift 3 or should saved money and go for Lenovo 330S instead?

Thanks

1. Only be a problem if you have frequent outdoor use
2. The new Swift 3 has upgradable RAM

Personally, just choose the one you like the most. Since you aldy tried them in person, you should know which is more suitable for you (eg keyboard experience, weight etc)

Do check out other options as well in my regular laptop list

1. Budget : 5-7k
2. Usage : Mostly on entertainment, medium gaming (dota2)
3. Requirements : No requirements, except it needs to be 17-inch laptop

Reason being, I've been using a 17-inch for the past 4 years and I am so used to a larger screen and portable. Cant seem to go back to smaller ones. 🤣

Illegear Z7
Asus GL703GE

Check my gaming laptop list for more options (though I haven't update it for quite a long time)

Thanks, didn't know this model exists - I know got one from HP x360, but also read battery life is not good and runs too hot under load.

Usage : Office - Excel, word, etc / Watching movies, presentation
Screen Size : any size will do , dont too big
RAM: 4gb (expandable)
Processor: i3 above
Budget : 1K - 4 K, prefer less than 2K

Not sure if the specs above doable for price i'm specifying. Been out of touch.
