Depends on what normal usage is.

My budget is similar to yours and I'm waiting for the Chuwi Lapbook Pro to be released some time soon.
I was also thinking of the Teclast F5 or Teclast F7 Plus (for 8gb ram)
But 4GB is good enough for me (normal usage is just uni stuff)
I'd suggest looking at the Chuwi Lapbook SE too.

People here really like suggesting over the top bang for the buck laptop (that fully utilizes all that budget money) without considering user usage and a cheaper option.
But if you're really looking for over the top bang for the buck then go with what ZM Fong said.

Hi there,

Anyone can recommend a laptop use for college assignment?

Budget: RM2.5 to RM3k

Brand: ASUS (or any other recommended brand and model)

Requirement: Use mainly for assignment, video making, video editing (probably would need faster processor and higher RAM?

Thanks.

Any preference on weight, battery life and display size? Mind low sRGB display?

2. Brand: NOT Lenovo (known security risks). I have used Acer for years, but I'm also open to other non-Lenovo brands. Currently using Acer

If you get Lenovo laptop, just need to do clean Windows install (which is essential in every laptop, not just Lenovo ones), not a big deal

No preference on weight and battery life?

Preferably lighter, average battery life.
Display 14" or 15.6" also ok.
Average display will do.

Just gotten my Zenbook 14. Actually it is pretty good and it the Nvidia GPU inside can make us play games and such. However, I do seem to notice it throttling ever now and then from 100 fps to 30 fps. Probably due to bad ventilation. Plus I am in a room with no Air Con. Will update on anything else

I forgot to mention that long battery life is very much preferable. I spend long hours on laptop daily.
No preference on weight, the laptop can be as light / heavy as you want.
I prefer 15.6" laptops though, my backpacks are all too small for 17" laptops. Laptops smaller than 15.6" are of course welcome too, but they often do away with the NumPad.

Acer Aspire 5 A515-52G-547K / 58R8 / 58H9 +RAM+SSD

1. Budget : 2.5k

2. Usage : Office work, networking stuff

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :

1080p, smaller/lighter the better
SSD, but i can swap my own 2.5" ssd if needed
bonus if got Gigabit ethernet

No other preferences. Not really picky.
Thinking of the E485

Anything more affordable? I don't need a dedicated GPU.

If you want this:
"must be able to access 2.5" drive mount easily (e.g. via dedicated maintence panel)"
Then your options are very limited
