QUOTE(Blofeld @ Jul 22 2022, 03:38 PM) Thanks For this part = Scan an QR code and fill up your details and attached a print screen (.jpg) of your vaccination page. Who will check it whether you attached correctly and does it take long for them to check? Any recommendations on which road side stall to get the Thai car insurance? That time nobody check what i attached. Maybe the other staff who will scan your Thai Pass QR will check your uploaded screenshot.. Last time I used to go to Petronas station, but the latest I went to this location, very friendly Malay lady who help to cover every docs and they have Thai simcard as well. https://goo.gl/maps/481ciytZLLHPBuwz6

But looks like a lot of cars will be parking by the roadside next to the stall too, right?

QUOTE(Paddy @ Jul 14 2022, 12:04 PM) i plan rent car in thailand , just using malaysia license or need idp ? QUOTE(jaylim94 @ Jul 18 2022, 06:55 PM) If I not mistaken, if the car is Thailand register car u gonna have IDP, if the car is Malaysia register car, then you use Msia License would be fine. ASEAN countries recognise each other driving licence. Malaysians need not possess an international licence to drive in Thailand, assured Thailand’s Ambassador to Malaysia Damrong Kraikruan. “In the spirit of Asean, member countries recognise the driving licence issued by their respective authorities as valid,” he said. https://www.malaymail.com/news/drive/2016/0...or-says/1049957

If go central like Bangkok or Pattaya better get IDP. Got 50-50% chance to kena saman. Northen like Chiang Mai / Udon must get IDP.

Thai custom will not check. Malaysia side will check. So you can declare to the custom officer there. (Not to be sexist, but always, always, go to the counter where men are manning the counter, they are more relaxed with the rules).

Hi all, sorry to revive this thread.
Just wanted to ask some special case.
Right now, I was denied by entering Thailand Hatyai border, they mentioned I didn't return back the "vehicle form" during exit at Betong on Year 2019.
Now 2024 I'm entering with another vehicle (the previous vehicle was sold on 2021). They mentioned I was blacklisted and need to pay the 10k Baht fine, need to bring previous passport and need to submit a "JPJ Authorization Letter" to proof that my vehicle is transferred properly in Malaysia.
I can pay the 10k Baht fine no issue. But the problem is the letter, I travelled to JPJ to request but they mentioned there is no such "authorized transferred letter".
Anyone had such experience before?

For everyone's future reference
I have recently gotten a quotation on E101 insurance from MSIG Malaysia for my vehicle (a 2022 BMW 3 series) for a 4 day trip to Thailand, it was RM56
I think it's fairly reasonable for an added peace of mind eg: vehicle damage / theft / towing from Malaysian border, which wasn't covered by both CI & VI

I asked them the same question, they told me they do not have towing service in Thai. You have to arrange to get it towed to nearest Malaysian border (either pay towing out of own pocket, or your voluntary insurance covers it), then from Malaysia side, MSIG will arrange for their partner to tow it to nearest workshop. You might need to check with your Malaysian insurer if they have towing in Thai. I believe most doesn't.

So, basically the coverage is predominantly to cover against thief and accident when you are at Thai? Thought you will need to buy local Thai insurance when you enter the country.

From what I read and understood: Compulsory insurance covers third party and own bodily injury, death and medical Voluntary insurance covers third party vehicle damage (if your fault), public property damage and some additional coverage for third party and own bodily injury, death and medical Both insurance above doesn't seem to cover our vehicle.

Cover your vehicle is 101 extension. Call your insurance company and tell them how many days, you will get a quote accordingly. Then just pay via card.

Hi, Hope someone can advise . Planning a family trip to Thailand soon so was just wondering the TM6 is replaced by TDAC correct? Any other changes on the documents required to drive in Thailand? The last time I went there (back in 2019) I standby the TM2 and TM3 forms but was not used in the end. Are these forms still needed now? And the other documents required in the list are they still the same? Such as Thailand insurance etc. Those can get at the border right? Hope someone can advise, many thanks in advance.
