Don't underestimate the Mi Router 3G, it comes with serious good SoC for the price it is sold however lack of VLAN tagging support is a problem.
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Xiaomi_MiWiFi_3G
*
I am impressed with the SoC, but the firmware leaves a lot to be desired, unless you flash custom firmware.

QUOTE(cle900706 @ Sep 20 2018, 11:01 AM)
i actually contacted the seller and they said already flash custom firmware and will support unifi, so i wasnt sure.
the biggest reason for me to consider mi router 3g is because of the specs
MediaTek MT7621AT (880 MHz, 2 cores), 128MB ROM, 256MB of RAM, 2.4GHz ( 300Mbps ) and 5GHz ( 867Mbps ). all for rm160

then i think need to see around. hmmm~~
yea.... the specs for the price are crazy
*
The specs are good, but it is easier for you to just get something on the 1st page, as it is usable straight out of the box.

QUOTE(chaostan @ Sep 20 2018, 11:02 AM)
I noticed some of you can just upgrade on the spot with waiting. But my case, im using rm179/50mpbs, they said need to come to for installation. why le? Not upgrade from their system?
*
They might want to test the speed and configure some stuff, and probably give you a new router lol.

QUOTE(zher4883 @ Sep 20 2018, 11:12 AM)
Mikrotik is also good for it's price but the learning curve is quite steep
*
Too steep for a newbie, I would think.

Any recommended budget modem routher 2.4Ghz can support up to 100mbps? Tenda AC15 good?

Taken from first page Tenda AC15 - 500Mbps, ~800Mbps
*
It is not modem router, it is just router. Tenda AC15 is okay, and worth the price. 2.4GHz usually can't support up to 100Mbps, and you need to be on 5GHz AC.

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Sep 20 2018, 11:53 AM)
Cheapest gigabit router anyone? I dun really mind the wifi speed. As my laptop will be primarily be connected via wired.
*
Try Tenda routers.

QUOTE(set @ Sep 20 2018, 12:01 PM)
like that just use what tm supply you will be enough, people upgrade asus just for wifi speed anyway
*
Nope, the C1200 won't be good to go up to 800Mbps, or even 500Mbps, as it might be throttled due to the CPU. See blacktubi thread, on router.

QUOTE(serve @ Sep 20 2018, 12:06 PM)
Yes..got turbo'ed..but cannot check on my current archer C20 router..max 90Mbps++

I recommend changing routers.

Can anyone suggest me good modem for 500Mbps?
I'm currently using the d-link trash can DIR-850L

For LAN speed ,I cant even get maximum, only like 30~40MBs
Just for info, my mobo LAN port support 1Gbps
Not sure if my LAN cable suck or the router
*
It is your router. See 1st page for recommendations.

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ Sep 20 2018, 12:25 PM)
My TM modem is the Innatech 4332. That one has no gigabit ports

Manage to get a technician to come and check why I not getting 800mbps after turbo.  The router C1200 is the problem..
Got any router recommended that not so pricey? I am thinking to downgrade to the 100 mbps package also.
Feel not worth need to spend extra money for this turbo upgrade doh.gif

the problem is 5Ghz have limitation on coverage, my modem is placing at upstairs. sad.gif
*
You mean the 5GHz on your router have limited coverage? Yes, that is the drawback of 5GHz. You can either put an wired AP downstairs, or buy a router that has superb 5GHz coverage, such as the TP-Link AC3150 v2.

QUOTE(shahie @ Sep 20 2018, 01:49 PM)
800mbps a bit hard la on wifi, but mine 300mbps ok la. attached mine, tested on wifi 5ghz band on my note 8. my setup:

BTU : Alcatel-Lucent I-240G-P (cat 6 LAN to router 1)
Router 1 : DLink Dir-882 (AC2600), cat 5e to router 2
Router 2 : DLink Dir-842 (AC1200)
Wireless Extender : TP-Link RE450
*
Yes, of course, but not all devices has 4x4 MIMO such as a your Note 8, and you have your router 2 as your wired AP, so of course, you are getting that speed. You should remove the wireless extender from your network, as it cuts your throughout to half.

Nice router. Seems to be the newest router they are issuing now, but still having that Unifi logo is annoying as and there is '@unifi' on SSID? Plus there will definitely be TR-069 implemented in the router 🙄

QUOTE(set @ Sep 20 2018, 02:38 PM)
yep, got, what exactly is TR-069 ?
*
TR-069 is remote management by TM, so they can log into your BTU and potentially your router and do whatever they want to it. All TM stock router will have this feature.

Quoted by bro soonwai from an old post of his: TR-069 is for TM to remotely configure/manage your device from their ACS (Auto Config Servers). I know they use it to change settings on the BTU but haven't seen it in action on the router. Not a really a biggie, if you ask me. e.g.: if you forgot your password of your router, they can use TR-069 to change it for you instead of having to walk you through resetting the router over the phone.

Is it normal to be asked to pay for cable laying into the house from the roadside fibre box.
*
Should be no, but really depends on your situation. Be careful not to be ripped off by TM contractors.

They will give you a basic router, decent for wired, but crap for wireless, and they did not promise to support you on wireless.

Guys, my turbo upgrade is done and i am using TP link C7 AC1750, how come i only manage get 250-280mbps connect via wireless 5ghz, if 2.4ghz only 80mbps?

Do we need made any setting change in our router?
*
What is your turbo speed? Set 5GHz to 80MHz and test again, but you won't get full turbo speed if your device does not support the right MIMO.

I test it using my iphone 7 so should be supported

Nope, unfortunately not. iPhone 7 is only 2x2 MIMO, so it is very hard to get the full 500Mbps.

hi miloaisdino

hi I bought the tplink tl-sg105e switch and followed blacktubi’s guide as link below but I wasn’t able to get hypptv working. it shows an antenna with a small cross.
I tested the network connection in the stb. all have green ticks except for the last one, multicast connectivity.
is there something I missed out?

thanks

*
Did you set Unifi mode on your router? You should not set any mode on that.

*
It just works differently. Don't ask me how TM operates lol. If they operate well, there wouldn't be so much problems with them. Inconsistent pricing, plans, and all sort of shit.

Hi, would like some advise. my unifi just got turbo-ed to 800mb. when i test the speed using LAN, i can get full speed. but Using wifi 5 GHZ i only can get around 200mb from iphone 10 speedtest. i am using asus ac68u router. Do i need to upgrade to better router to get higher speed on wifi?
*
iPhone X is only 2x2 MIMO, so no point you upgrade to the best router in the world, when your device noes not support the turbo speed. Very few if any device will be able to support the 800Mbps on wifi. It is device limitation.

QUOTE(th3game @ Sep 20 2018, 05:36 PM)
For my router,im using asus rt-ac86u and i just just disable the unifi-home profile for lan4 on IPTV tab on router setting. that’s all right?

Yes. That is right.

You are on condo or landed FTTH or condo FTTH?did they give same router regardless of condo vs landed FTTH?
*
Yes, they do. They give same router, unless you are on VDSL, then you might get ZTE or something else.

Hi guy ,what is the maximum speed support for tp-link ac1200 ? im just get my turbo upgrade to 500mb but the speed i get just 95mb. is it the router problem or any other problem ah ?
*
Read 1st page, 1st post, green text, for troubleshooting issues.

QUOTE(solarmystic @ Sep 20 2018, 05:52 PM)
Nope. I just got Unifi installed in July however, so the equipment is already up to date (DLINK DIR842 MIMO router and Fiberhome Gigabit capable ONU) and no equipment change is required.

The DIR 842's WIFI range is quite amazing compared to the older TP Link 1043 ND router I had with DD-WRT firmware which i used for Stimyx.

Can even get coverage out on my street in the car. I was quite surprised. The WIFI speed however is nothing to write about, but considering that i'm only able to get up to 100 Mbps until they officially announce new and faster packages, it is of no concern to me at the moment.
*
Lol, why do you even compare the DIR-842 to the very old and not fit for use TP-Link 1043ND modem router? It is not even in the same league. Its Wifi range is honestly not that amazing. If you want a router that is amazing, try the TP-Link AC3150 v2 or the Asus RT-AC86U, then you will know the definition of 'amazing'.

*
CPU bottleneck issue. The router is not capable of handling 800Mbps. Get a better router.

I'll look into those when i eventually go for higher speed packages in the future. My main PC is hardwired to the DIR 842 so wireless coverage is secondary.

I've just been on that ancient TP-Link router for so long that my perception of what constitutes normal coverage for a WIFI signal is rather skewed lol.
*
Fair enough, you will definitely see the difference when you get either one of the two routers.

QUOTE(tommyfai @ Sep 20 2018, 07:11 PM)
i see.. okay. is AC1200 good enough capable of 800 mbps on LAN ? abit on low budget. wifi speed does not matter for me though.
*
It is, but as I say, if the hardware i.e the CPU is crap, your speed will be limited by that.

The "crap" Archer C1200 v.1 running find on my TIME@300 ,even on WiFi 5GHz getting 285Mbps 10 meters away.

Archer C1200 CPU is Broadcom BCM47189B0 @ 900 MHz.

Even higher MHz then Archer C7 @ 720 MHz v.1-v.3 (v.4 @ 750 MHz and v.5 @ 775 MHz)

Edit:
Btw,
Qualcomm has some advantage compare to Broadcom SoC.

Good for you. Be happy and grateful that you are on TIME, and manage to get the TIME firmware that fixes most of the problems that TM doesn’t seem to be able to resolve with this particular router.

Would the Xiaomi Mi Mini router bottleneck the 300Mbps upgrade?

Assuming I'm relying on the LAN connection.
*
No, it is not bottlenecking the speed.

It doesn't support the speed, in the first place! The router only has FE LAN ports, which means it only supports up to 100Mbps speed.

Refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text, for list of recommended routers, and all have gigabit ports.

Doesn't matter. It is not a firmware issue, bro. Your router LAN ports does not support gigabit speed. It is a hardware issue.
