i using RT-AC55UHP, i even got RT-N56U and RN-N14UHP. how many routers i need to buy....sien

anyway i staying in 3 storey house, my router at mid level

any nice router recommend ? i dont into gaming but my bro does....i only stream movie and torrent , the rest of my family on mobile
*
The problem is that you bought all the routers that does not support your turbo speed, and you should have bought one expensive good router that can last. If you are on 800Mbps, you need the purchase the high-end routers. You can get TP-Link to save some cost.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Sep 18 2018, 09:06 PM)
They did have a printed booklet. I remember getting it when VIP5 was installed. I guess they don't print it anymore. There's also a PDF version online.
*
They don't do that now though, so people will need to look for information themselves.

Hmm yea I forgot to try using the 5ghz band. It's circa 170~190 now.

You mean dir850l model router isn't good enough? Hehe. Or will there be improvement if I get a Asus brand router?
*
Yes, refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text, for recommended routers, and other general info,

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Sep 19 2018, 10:02 AM)
The most I get now is 285Mbps, no point of 800Mbps turbo if they couldn't provide a capable router.
I have to fork out money again?? Come on
*
They only promise full connection on wired speed, not wireless. You have to buy your own router for wireless. Refer to 1st page, 1st post, green text, for recommended routers and other general info.

Got my new modem.
AN5506.

Tm replaced my i240g, i believe this support gigabyte.

Now wait for order completed.

My bad, there are different versions. Yours does support it lol.

QUOTE(hihi @ Sep 19 2018, 01:46 PM)
Want to ask tplink wr 1043nd can get the full speed using wired connection? turboed 500Mbps.
*
Not possible. It is very old, and the hardware is very dated, and the wireless standard it supports is only N. I suggest changing to a router that I recommend on 1st page.

QUOTE(Freestyling @ Sep 19 2018, 01:52 PM)
need an advise

I am currently on ancient VIP 10 (10MBPS) for RM149... with free channels.

I am thinking to change to 100mbps plan. 2 question.
- Will I get new set of BTU and TV BOX? should i request that first before change plan or after... the current one is very old and seems slowing down.
- Will i still be able to watch basic channel on my tv. Those TV1/2/3/etc

Thanks.,
*
You should upgrade. You won't be able to get a new STB, as the new plan does not include UnifiTV on STB, only on playTV app, which can only be accessed through mobile devices.

QUOTE(Edward_Ng @ Sep 19 2018, 01:54 PM)
May i know how you get your new modem. i am using the modem they give me since 5 years ago.
*
Did you check 1st page, 1st post, green text? Your BTU might be able to support gigabit.

QUOTE(hk99mobile @ Sep 19 2018, 01:58 PM)
hi want to ask i am planning to buy a asus Rt-ac5300 from aliexpress and later could we write Malaysia firmware into it via upgrade firmware? The aliexpress RT-ac5300 come with preinstalled Merlin, or i could just use the Merlin to do Unifi PPPOe, & yesterday just got turbo 800mb area Kuching, sarawak. Thanks
*
Why do you need to flash Malaysia firmware into it? Asus firmware is global, and Merlin firmware is global as well. Just keep in mind that there is no Asus Malaysia warranty if you buy from AliExpress and you need to send it back to China for warranty issues.

My bad, it does support. There are two versions, AN5506-04-B, and, AN5506-04-BG.

The BG support gigabit and the B does not.

*
Hi bro, my bad, his version does support it, and yes, there are different versions. If yours is AN5506-04-B, it does not support gigabit. If it is AN5506-05-BG, it does support gigabit. Look at the label at the bottom of the BTU, and you can see if yours is the B version or the BG version.

That is for the regular AN5506-04-B version. If his one has BG, then it supports gigabit. See here: http://www.wdcnet.com.br/wp-content/upload...N5506-04-BG.pdf

i get the turbo Unifi 500 mbps recently. Unfortunately, im only able to achieve around 300 mbps with lan cable cat 6. Any network setting need to change for achieve 500 mbps? Im using TP link archer c7 AC1750.

Seems to be TM problem, or your router bottleneck issue.

4 10/100/1000Mbps LAN Ports
1 10/100/1000Mbps WAN Port

Wired yes (Cat 5e and above Lan cable).
*
I know that his router have gigabit ports rolleyes.gif

But, older routers can’t reach the full turbo speed, because of hardware issues in the older routers. Refer to Blacktubi discussion on router here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658096

QUOTE(pokchik @ Sep 19 2018, 06:09 PM)
sifu, is your BTU running hot?

mine somehow runs hot, though it doesn't seem to be malfunctioning.
*
Nope, make sure there is adequate ventilation and space under the router, so elevate it somehow.

QUOTE(Kyoshiro @ Sep 19 2018, 06:18 PM)
My Unifi got turboed for awhile now but my dl and ul speed both only manage to go up to about 100-120Mbps. All connected with CAT6 cables, router and BTU seems to be fine.

Called up tech support and they sent someone to my house to check on the connection, they confirmed that my network equipment is alright.
They told me it's their problem on their end that needs to be reconfigured but god knows how long it'll take.
I only got answered, "days or weeks maybe? I pun tak tau."
Anyone facing the same problem? The technician told me it's a common thing.
*
It is still in pilot phase, and TM is still working things out.

*
Nope. You can easily hit more than 200Mbps. My iPhone 7 max speed was 260Mbps on my in-laws 300Mbps turbo speed connection.

Make sure you are connected to 5GHz AC, 80MHz.

I'm still paying rm149 for 10mbps (upgrade from 5mbps previously), last time i went to TM titiwangsa but they say new package (rm139 for 30mbps) only for new subscriber and don't let me up/downgrade, for my case what can i do ah? can terminate and reapply because over 2yr contracts but I takut the port ran out in my area, if re-apply cannot get then habis liao
*
Didn’t you see new plan? New plan is RM100Mbps for RM129. You are definitely eligible for it. You are allowed to reapply or upgrade now. See here: https://unifi.com.my/personal/home/fibre-broadband

Bang table and argue for your rights. Make sure you tell them to give you new equipment. You won’t be eligible for Unifi TV on STB though.

Thanks Bro, but it's wasn't mine.

My relative one and he chasing his/her dramas now...
Confirmed it's CAT-5e as using TM stock router, maybe just play around wifi setting for optimum wifi speeds.

Another reasons is he/she didn't clean reboot yet but noticed speed was improved.
*
Forget about getting turbo speed on TM stock router, it is crap. Upgrade router based on recommendations on 1st page. Good luck.

It is the software problem. You need to pay for the Pro Version to download faster.

I have received unifi turbo (50mbps to 500 mbps) on 4 sep, and i check my speedtest using lan on PC, got 500mbps.

This week i try again speedtest using lan cable on PC, but can only get around 100mbps.

Is my unifi have been downgrade?

Have anyone experience same issue with mine?
*
Probably lower you down, as it is unstable.

hi guys, just wanna ask if my planned setup is ideal for 300mbps?

current setup
modem - huawei HG8240w
router - innatech rg4332 (this router sucks balls even on 30mbps)

planned setup
modem - reuse huawei hg82402
router - mi router 3g (because budget around 200 only) <maybe can recommend other routers too

another question, im having a 300mbps 2.4ghz band only pcie card on my desktop, will it be recommended to change this to a pcie or usb 3.0 adapter dual band and high speed?

much appreciated!
*
With your budget being that small for a router, you can't get any decent routers with that. Increase it and get the Tenda routers which are cheap for their performance. See 1st page, 1st post, green text, for router recommendations.

You can't use Mi Router and I wouldn't recommend it as they do not support VLAN tagging and you will need to get a separate switch that supports VLAN tagging, and Mi Router 3G might not support 300 Mbps on LAN as there might be CPU bottleneck which limits your LAN speed, even though it has gigabit ports. You will probably hit 100 - 200Mbps, slightly more if you are lucky.

Yes, change it to PCIe or USB3.0 dual band. You will need to be on 5GHz AC, 80MHz, to enjoy the full turbo speed of 300Mbps.
