Currently using Dlink AC1200 router that TM supplied. Just wondering, in my hostel got 10-11 devices connected to the network, if all of them connect to the 5ghz band will there be some bottleneck issues?

Was told by some to use 2.4ghz network for devices like phones and tablet to reduce a supposed "congestion" on the 5ghz band.

But does it really work that way?
*
Nope. Doesn’t work that way at all. Your speed might however go down if those devices decide to stream video or do anything taxing to the CPU, as the router is very basic.

Seen your other post. Did you consider trying with another router?
I am assuming you are using 5GHz AC? Set it to any channel above 130 and to 80MHz, and see if that helps.
*
highest channel is 48.
set to channel 48, 80mhz, ac only. still the same.
is that possible arising from bandwidth limit of the wifi? but i couldnt find the setting to adjust the bandwidth for my tplink c9

any problems with the setting below? everything is in default

Changed to TM default router - same Mbps with the WRT 1900 ACS. I enabled the WRT 1900 ACS wifi as well, same results about 90 Mbps over wifi to the apple iphone X. I enable the 80 Mhz channel on the WRT 1900 ACS 5 GHZ radio as well.

I will get TM fellas to get my connection speed to about 800 mbps, right now. it's only about 550 Mbps, all using dintek cat 6 patch cables, still no dice sad.gif

Once the Mbps gets to about 800 Mbps, I will get some Cisco engineers to look at the damn Cisco 2 X AP 2600 and 1 X 2700. I am pretty sure it's got to do with the Cisco MCS and DATA rates. It's been almost more than a decade since I config Cisco IOS sad.gif

Thanks for you help

Putting aside WiFi, can you get 800mbps on wired connection to both TM stock router and Linksys?

Try doing the speedtest in Safe Mode with Networking.

Speedtest to Time and Webe server.

I have a Server connected to the Asus RT-AC66U router via Lan cable. So I am transferring from My PC to the server.

Which protocol? FTP/SMB?  hmm.gif

I am not too sure. I just use windows explorer and key in the sever address to move files, so its probably SMB.

Looks like SMB for me - can you try disabling SMB v1 from the server? hmm.gif

hi, is there any reason for download speed over 2.4Ghz wifi to be lower than upload speed.

from what i understand, interference will reduce wifi bandwidth, but are "download" signals more prone to interference compared to "upload" signals?

currently with unifi 800M. average download speed i get over my devices for 2.4ghz is 70Mbps, but upload speed is around 170Mbps. rclxub.gif just confused because if i can hit 170M for upload speed, why is download speed alot lower.

Hi, could anyone give me some advice or solution to my networking issue?

Currently got an Asus RT55UHP on the first floor. Running speed test on the same floor gets me close to the claimed 100Mbps. On the 2nd floor walkway I'm also getting it not too far from those results as well. My problem is entering the bedroom which I suspect is the door, I'm immediately getting down to around 30Mbps or slightly less. Signal is also obviously weaker and tends to drop occasionally. I had no choice but to put a TP LINK range extender just to keep the signal up, however the speed is now down to 15-20Mbps.

It's kind of hard to bridge a router from outside the room on the second floor to another router into the room via cable as the space below the door doesn't allow it.

I've been checking out other wireless options including mesh systems. But I just don't know if they will work past the door. Or are there options that are strong enough to boost the signal through the door. I'm mainly trying to get my full connection speed inside the rooms on the second floor as the ground and first floor are fine.

Assuming budget is not an issue what would be recommended? I wouldn't want to buy something only to have the same results in the end.

Any ideas on the Netgear Nighthawk XS as an add on to the Asus? I also don't use my landline or Hypptv so if it causes any issues with that it really doesn't matter.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Mesh Wifi will solve your issue. If you want something good, get the Deco M9 3 pack. Your problem will be solved. Don't bother getting an extender or powerline. Alternatively, go for the TP-Link AC3150 v2, if you prefer a single router.

Oh ok, would I be able to add that on to my router or does that come with it's own router? Also would the TP LINK be sufficient enough to cover all 3 floors providing full signal to the rooms as well?
