hi folks, since this thread more about home networking, I do need some sifu advise for my home current setup. My Unifi is 500mbps, and about 6-8 devices connect to Wifi. current painpoint is that mobile devices on ground & 2nd floor [priority] has full signal strength but most of the time when streaming youtube/FB, needs buffer, and sometimes in the end not running in the end got fed up using mobile data instead. Hardware side: 1. Can I change the Switch to Wireless Router will solve the issue? Configuration side: 1. Without changing any hardware, is it able to resolve by performing some configuration?

QUOTE(cho @ Jan 21 2022, 03:24 PM) what model your router? how big is your house? actually you have several option 1. go mesh .. recommended maybe you just need to find dual band mesh router instead tri band since you already have LAN cable running Pro: - only need 1 wifi ssid through out your house. your devices will connect to the nearest and fastest node - if need fast wifi at ground level in future, just add another node at ground floor later cons: -a bit pricey maybe? 2. or use current router, add another router at your switch. model of my router is tenda ac1900 model AC18...but i think this model can't support mesh network right? after i check Tenda support. my hse is a 3 story..router located in the middle floor.

hi guys, im currently having 800mbps
I plan to buy mesh for my 2.5 story house.
my router will be on ground floor office 1st floor will be bedroom 2nd floor will be my room
i wanna use all wireless backhaul due to challenges to get wired backhaul, so did some GPT around, it recommended me to have BE65,X55,XE75
BE65 need to have 3 it breaks my wallet X55,XE75 need to have 3 as well but it's very rare and least 1k i expected
Any alternatives to these 3 models?
my target is to reach 500mbps at least for all wireless devices since im on a tight budget and having 800mbps broadband, sacrificing 300mbps wont be that hurt

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Dec 5 2025, 12:25 PM) You will need at least the Deco BE65 or even higher range if you wish to get 500Mbps at all coverage areas Heck, I don't think the BE65 can do 500Mbps at the third unit i see, in that case i just get a 2 unit BE65, 1 for main router, 1 on 1st floor, then use wired backhaul to 2nd floor (for my old M9plus) This post has been edited by lansi_raju: Dec 5 2025, 01:44 PM
