there will be tons of overhead for wireless. wifi 4 (802.11n) is notorious for too much overhead and also more suspicious to interference. 150mbps adapter is most likely 1x1 antenna which will worsen the reception.

150mbps 1x1 antenna at 40mhz. usually to avoid interference most routers default to 20mhz which will half the speed to 72mbps. irl speed at 40mbps is normal due to overhead

avoid this model especially dual core one

No, adapter is like receiving client. There is absolutely no need for tri band. However there is now new technology that can make use of 2 bands at the same time if router is set to smart connect (same ssid for 2 bands) to help increase some speed. Intel latest AX411 is capable of that using smart dual connect technology (DCT), for example.

okay lah ac1300 is also good enough. but this design no high gain antenna. if go for tplink t4u got high gain antenna


if using a wifi 6 adapter in a wifi 5 network, will it help in speed in real life comparing to wifi 5 adapter although i know that the speed will be limited to wifi 5. however, will it still help in anyway?

For 500mbps, which tp link mesh system can replace deco m4 x2?

1. 2x archer AX55
2. 2x Deco X50 (because this model rare for 3 ports)
3. 2x Deco X68
4. 2x Deco XE75

I just want basic 500mbps in main deco unit only and anything about second node I don't care much anyway

If you like tp link as a whole, can get a lot choice there. Best choice would be either ax72 or ax73. Although slightly cheaper ax53 or ax55 will also suffice

But if you value long term software support, get asus. Like ax57, TUF ax4200, TUF ax6000 etc

Edit: replaced tuf 5400 with 6000 since now realised tuf6000 is newer and superior against 5400

Try tri band models like deco x68 or xe75

Oof assus not up to task this time for router support. Ax56u is already discontinued support. I thought can support many years kan lol

maybe you are considering asus ai mesh? but zenwifi i feel like its anak tiri (stepchild) lineup from asus in terms of software support anyway compared with normal RT / GT / TUF router series. maybe better to use 2 or 3 of such normal router instead as ai mesh is still much more flexible to setup and more configurations open for user

I also quite dissatisfied with my home deco m4 system since i got in 2020 11.11 sales. Not only deco got a lot of settings forced like one ssid smart connect settings/wifi channel/bandwidth without able to manually adjustable , but sometimes software can also bugged out in certain firmware update cause speed to become too slow for surf some sites like shopee etc. Although tp link software support is still decent in fixing the bugs with hotfixes (they call beta firmware as interim hotfixes)

Deco m4 is good for 100mbps in fully wireless backhaul. 300mbps is only attainable for whole home with wired backhaul

The problem prevents me from going asus ai mesh is obviously cost. Around 2-3 times more expensive compared to similar class equivalent from other brands due to assus tax here by official distributor

That's why tp link is promoting deco lineup with "REAL MESH" in the product listing/ads. The so called "AI driven" mesh protocol is still much more mature than any other mesh protocol including aimesh/easymesh/whatever with fast roaming as a bonus. Other normal mesh just k/v, deco mesh comes with extra of k/v/r protocol (r means fast roaming of course)

So that's why my next upgrade will be still from tp link deco lineup. I am now eying for at least X50 model in the next payday/11.11 promo because X50 seems like the sweet spots for me (and may consider combine with X68 because of dedicated wireless backhaul depending on budget at that sales time)
