basically esim is a small chip that is already inside the iphone, you just need to register with telco & they will give you a qr code. you then need to scan the qr code from your phone to activate the esim & register that number to the iphone.
as far as i know, esim service is not yet available for malaysian telcos, other than maxis.
but even for maxis i've only seen them promoting esim for huawei watch 2

apple has already introduced esim since last year (2017) when they launched the cellular + gps apple watch series 3,
but esim is not available for malaysian telcos yet that's why apple malaysia only sells the gps version apple watch 3 here.
i think this time will be the same too for iphone xs
