okay,first of all...hey guys...im new here...glad i found this thread.

ive been pestering my parents about getting braces since last year.haha

Do you think Pristine Dental in Mid Valley offer Damon 3,In-Ovation C and the other bracket systems?

If they dont, then i think ill go to Dr. How's,ive been reading alot of good stuff about him, that kinda tempted me to switch orthos.

If anyone is under pristine, can u please comment on this?

which ortho do u think i should go to?

Owh and uh,if anybody would kindly please tell me the location of Dr.How's in Bangsar Baru.Cuz im not from Semenanjung,im originally from Sabah but im Studying here biggrin.gif ...told my friend about it,but she doesnt seem to know where it is.Tried the map thing on How's website,bt couldnt open it...haiz..

Just to guide u on the location of Dr. How..

Locate the "old" Bangsar shopping centre @ Jalan Telawi Bangsar (i always park the car under ground). Once you step out from the shopping centre, you will see there is a tailor shop at your opposite side. Dr How's place just next 3 shop same row with the tailor shop. Look for small staircase, his shop is at upstair.

His shop address:
How's Orthodontics & Dental Surgery
64-1 Jalan Telawi Bangsar Baru 59100 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 603-2284 5529 Fax: 603-2284 7687

Hi all,
I'm new here. I've been reading this thread for few weeks already when i finally decided to 'brace' my teeth. So i was looking around for info and a good Dr to fix my ugly teeth. Then i saw that Kenctp has been very hard sell abt Dr How. So i called the clinic in Bangsar today to enquire the treatment fee. The operator told me, "Normally for Damon 3 is RM5800 and traditional metal braces will be RM4200 - RM4500. Consultation fee is RM80"

What?  ohmy.gif How come like that keh? Price went up edy mer? Sigh... Anyway, without thinking much, i've set an appt to go for the consultation this Saturday. unsure.gif
*
OPss.. am I hard sell on Dr. How ? tongue.gif I am hard sell on Damon system 3 for sure .. haha.. it is new technology, fast and less pain compare to tranditional one..

The doctor ma.. I feel he treat good to his client lo..that's y i recommend him to other.

The prices, The initial quote to me on Damon 3 is RM5800 as well. I suggest you negotiate with Dr How..of course, u have to confirm the deal, then he only can negotiate.. depend on your bargain skill la.. wink.gif Even the consultation fee will waive if u confirm the deal.

Sorry for the late reply, Ronnie. Finally i've got it done. Today is the third day laugh.gif . I hardly feel any pain. Unless i clench. Then, i didnt take pain killer that doctor gave also. But i feel tired for my gums tho... because of the pressure, i guess. Oh, by the way, doctor had me braced on the upper jaw only. Later only will fix the lower jaw.

On that same day, for dinner i had HK Chee Cheong Fun and instant noodles.  Second day, instant noodles, mihun soup and also swallowed 2 slices of peanut butter sandwich. Then today bread dipped in milo and noodle soup. I find it easier to eat noodles compared with rice. And i'm lazy cos i dont want food to stuck in my braces... Hahaha...

Oh... something happened this morning when i try to stick the dental wax on the bracket on my last tooth. So i have to open my mouth big... When it's done, i found my lip were caught in one of the metal wire hook (or whatever it is). Ouch...  cry.gif then the metal scraped a tiny bit of the flesh. I think it will turn out to be an ulcer there... Besides that, no ulcer yet.

Overall still ok. But i really really hate the wire that is sticking out from my last tooth and its poking my cheeks. That's painful. Thank god for the dental wax. Alrighty, i think thats all for now. Will try to post pictures later.  blush.gif
*
you can request the Dr to cut the addition wire more shorter.. after few week, when the teeth move in, the last wire will become even longer to poke your cheeks.

phew...  shakehead.gif  great novelists are talking...hehe

I had my upper part fixed last month and now waiting for the lower part which is going to be on this coming 17th. I met Dr. How twice already and he took pictures after fixing my teeth. Is he going to take pictures on every appointment? If so, will he print the pictures out and let us keep them? I remember last time the receptionist said she forgot to print the pictures of my 1st visit. She'll give the pictures later on my next visit.

Another thing, how come I don't have dental wax? It's not in the package  unsure.gif
I paid ~RM80 for the package which includes:
1 x Ortho brush
2 x Pearl Drops toothpaste
1 x Oral B mouth rinse
5 x Futuristic brush-like toothpicks
1 x Medicine for ulcer

Or I need to buy it separately?

Thanks.
*
normally, Dr. how will take photo for 1st time.. on 2nd or 3rd visits, the receptionist will pass the photo to you with a simple file.

I believe they forget to give u dental wax, it should be free for 1st pax. Anyhow, i just use a little, still have 4 stick without touch. Anyone if need to buy, can get mine for free..as i no need to use it tongue.gif (touch wood) haha..

just to share my 1st photo (Jan 2008) with current photo..

- screw already cover by lips but you notice the "rubber" pulling the 2 teeth at upper jaw
- there is a blue ring placed between teeth at lower jaw, to force the teeth gap for movement
- the middle of upper front teeth, there is a power chain to close the teeth gap
- the upper jaw wire is thicker than lower jaw

Overall, all the teeth already stand straight biggrin.gif Now, is tuning all the teeth to equal height and don't let people see the gum when smiling. According to Dr. How, my teeth also consider serious problem and it had a deep bite as you can see on Jan08 photo.

About the picture, the first time when he took it, it was included in a file. However, a few months back, he do snap a few more pictures, but he didn't print it out. Personal collection??? LOL laugh.gif

remember that when signed the contract? There is a question ask if you agree to share your case as studies case and allow take photo ? I allow Dr. how to take it, so from time to time, he will take my photo. Next month, he will present my photo (of course, he said will not show my face) during conf talk at Hanoi, Veitnam. smile.gif

still the freakin internet problem isnt done yet..so here i am...writing with my freaking friends laptop, goin online in starbux..this suck big time..

Anyways..
i went for my first appointment last thursday...so its been a week now..1 Month and 1 Week in Braces! biggrin.gif
heres the good part..I SEE MOVEMENT!! MUhahahahha god i love my braces now.
And during the appoinment,i didnt get my wire changed, but instead.i got powerchains!!
Dr said that he wanted to focus on pushing my potruding teeth inwards nowand my next appoinment is next month.huhuhuh.

i only got powerchains on my uppers tho,the bottoms are untouched.
And and just two days after getting them,i accidently ate Nasi Lemak (it was freakin irresistable T.T) . The next thing i know,my powerchains stained.but its subtle.i kina regret having what i had.I Tried brushing almost 3 times but its still there.SIGH..

but it wasnt that obvious tho..huhuh...
before the appoinment,i got like a ulcer-massacre in my mouth.i guess its cuz the teeth moved.

ill be updating again soon, huhuhuh u guys take care.im sooooooooooooooooooooooo hyped to see movement!!
*
See, as i said.. in 3 month times, u will see something noticeable.. if ur case is not serious, in 5~6 month time, ur teeth will straight. The rest of time is fine tuning phase and close gap within teeth.

Cheers! share ur joy!

I think my gums are too old and stubborn that its not willing to let my teeth move.

Cant wait till my appointment early next month. I think the glue that were used to hold the brackets were stained...So its a bit yellowish now... Dunno how to get rid of it...

*Shame* I dont brush everyday after meal. Cos i dun want to mafan and bring toothbrush to work. But I brush twice a day like everyone else. Especially after dinner at night.

I gues the yellowish stain are caused by the things i eat. Often eat food with dark soya sauce. And i have to drink tea everyday. But now that i notice the color of the glue, i will gargle everytime after tea and food. And i brush my teeth longer now to pay more attention on my front teeth. I heard that baking soda can help to reduce the stain. Dunno whether is it true or not. Let me try and i let you guys know...especially Ronnie. Always ter-eat something with bad coloring.

Ronnie,
Nope my teeth or not loose yet. Its not jelly-soft moving like some of you described. Like i said, maybe its stubborn. But i do get a spongy feeling when i clench my teeth. As if the teeth had sunken into the gum. I also realised that either my gums had grow bigger or my teeth had sunken. Cos my teeth had become smaller. Especially those at the back.

Then, i dunno whether is just me or maybe some of you encounter the same problem as mine. What happen was... my gum will bleed very often. Not sure whether it's normal. Especially when i wakes up every morning. When i spit out my saliva, its bloody. Sorry if i gross you out. But i just need to know... Am afraid that my gum are too weak if none of you all face the same problem.

It's about one week away till my next appt. Hope will see results. Ronnie, Why is your appt so near? i mean.... i waited so long until my first adjustment but yours are like...so fast...
*
I don't have the bleeding problem.. You may check with Doctor on your case.

Normally, the appointment is every month. For my case, it always first Tuesday of the month.

Do u take leave to go for appointment? I actually prefer Saturday.  I mean, i fixed it on saturday so if 4 weeks later i will go for the following saturday, which is this saturday. This time, i will ask doc to cut my wire shorter. U know? i havent live a day without the dental wax. The wire is really sharp. 2 days ago when i was trying to stick the dental wax on, i use my fingers to feel it...the sharp part. It poke my finger and it bled.  cry.gif

No, i didn't take leave.. just tell my boss that i will go out for an hour dental checkup and it is near to lunch time... My boss is ok with it.

Ya..it is sharp.. my finger also get poke before too..

Dont worry, like i said, i had dental wax on everyday to prevent poking. B4 i had dental wax on, it poke my cheeks and i had ulcer. After i put on dental wax... i dont get poking anymore. Just ensure that ur doctor cut the wire as short as possible. I'm going for my 1st adjustment this saturday and i will ask doctor to cut it as short as possible. Then i will let you know the differences... smile.gif

Trust me, its not that bad. If i can, you can take it too. Think of it this way, you are doing all this for your beautiful smile in the future.  biggrin.gif  My relatives and family were glad that i finally get my braced installed. Even my grandma says  thumbup.gif  good! Cos i have really ugly teeth. Tho my bf never criticize abt my ugly teeth but when i said i wanted braces, he supported me too.

I cant wait to see movements and can wait to show off my teeth.
*
haha.. a good supportive word.. ya.. you are right !!

Yott Chan,
u need to step out.. think this way.. if u need do it, the whole life will remain the same image of your teeth.. but if u try to wear braces..your teeth surely change !!! U can see them getting move and straight after a month or two!! that feeling only the bracer know.. it is damn supper glad mood wink.gif

Whoever still thinking should do or not do.. come on, give a try.. Everyone also wish to smile with nice teeth, right?! You still want to smile with a hand cover mouth or try not to open lips when smile ? or whenever u smile, u feel ppl look on your teeth, u feel nervous? To me, all this was over.. I am dare to smile now with my braces.. my teeth is straight now.. and i believe my friend/colleague don't dare to laugh on my braces. As i just notice around 50% of ppl out there dun have a straight, neat and nice teeth.. Surprising me..only notice after i wear braces. May be last time my teeth is worst than them.. now my teeth is better than them, so only can notice that tongue.gif haha..

Oppss// write too much wink.gif good night.

Added on November 3, 2008, 5:27 pmHey people,
I'm back. Went for my adjustment on saturday. Dr only took 10-15 minutes and i'm done.
Dr says my teeth are moving very slowly. So Dr pushed 6 separator into my upper jaw. Ouch for the first night. Second day, i felt better. And today, even better...

Besides separator, dr also had me power chain for my front teeth. Its ceramic, so its not obvious. I even had a mirror in hand and ask dr. "Where is the power chain? I cant see it. What did you do?" Dr says, its ceramic so you cant see... I was like... blush.gif

I also had Dr How to trim my irritating wire. Dr did it the best he can. He says if i still feel discomfort, i will have no choice but to live with dental wax. cry.gif So scary... But the the next day, i didnt put my dental wax on lor... Cos it's fine now and no more irritation. rclxm9.gif

[/quote]

oh..u have the separator ah.. i have it also on my lower teeth.. tomorrow is my next visit.. Not sure what Dr will do on me..
