thanx for the reply! and do u know what is SWLF Synergy R ? similar to damon? if the costs for ceramic isn't too high and affordable, i'll consider it too smile.gif but i'm still a student so my budget is quite tight now and but i think i've saved enough for this, (around rm 6k at the moment after so many years of savings  blush.gif )

and all my friends already got their teeth done during schooling days back then (i'm 21 now sad.gif ) .They either got it done at government clinic or privately and those who did privately recomended me some clinics but the operating days aren't suitable for me as i'm studying in kl and i can only get back to hometown on weekends, that's y hoping to get a clinic which opens on saturday  smile.gif
*
Sorry, friend.. I never heard of SWLF Synergy R..but able to find it it google.

http://www.rmortho.com/assets/content.aspx
http://www.rmoseminars.com/aao/swlf.html

Also, I found the Self-Ligating in Wiki also mention Damon : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-ligating_braces

Are Damon braces really better than regular braces?

During secondary time, I did applied for government clinic. However, i received the approval letter after i graduate form 5. That's i already plan to study at KL. Due to financial issue, i have no choice to delay the treatment for many year. I would say, i am the oldest in this thread forum. tongue.gif No worry on your age, good thing is..nowaday the self-ligating braces are smaller and look nicer. We been discussed on previous post.. once you wear the braces, you will dare to open your mouth to smile compare to the time before without wear braces.

Why?
Because you will found your teeth is getting better from month to month, even better than "normal" people. You will start notice a lot of people don't have a straight and nice teeth. And you already step into action, your teeth is improving, while other (without wear braces) teeth is stop as their existing condition. Hence, you will happy to smile to show your braces..tongue.gif

Since you're in KL, why don't do it in KL? My braces also doing at Bangsar, How's Orthodontics & Dental Surgery. Opss..promote again tongue.gif

wow, thanx again for the infos!  biggrin.gif
the clinics operating days are really good but i don't have my own transport in kl so it's a bit inconvenient and i have long semester breaks (2-3months+ per sem) . 1 year = 2 sem breaks.  So if i am to do in kl then i will have to travel back to kl a few times during semester breaks. rclxub.gif  That's why i think it's better for me to get back to hometown once every month for treatment rather than needing to go back during breaks. Besides, i notice that i go back hometown quite often lol.. maybe 2-3 times per semester(mid sem break + long weekend public holidays + maybe during finals interval) so i as well go back for treatment during that time (1 sem is around 4 months +)
and is it true that with damon, u don't have to visit the dentist so often ? 2 months or 1 month+ per check up for tightening?
thanx for sharing!!

and yes, i do realise that ppl with braces have nicer, whiter and shinny teeth after taking off the thing laugh.gif
*
I see..what a nice life.. have a long break tongue.gif

Regarding less visit, may be need to get advice from your Dr. As far as i know, we need to have regular monthly visit, mainly due to we need to pay the installment.

However, during the monthly visit, Dr. will do a check on our condition and perform below one of activity if deem necessary:-

-Change the arch wire to thicker size
-Re-position of braces
-Place separator between the teeth
-Place rubber chain
-Place bite stoper
-Place screw (Mini inplant) - Optional & separate charges apply

If you can't visit every month, you will not able to perform one of above task. The process may be will slightly slow ? By the way, if you using Self-Ligating Braces, Dr. will no need to tightening your braces. As the arch wire is freely moveable, thus i didn't mention any tightening task on above activity.

I was just daydreaming... i dont dare to eat prosperity burger directly...  shakehead.gif  .
But last saturday i tried to eat KFC... peel the chicken into smaller pieces and eat slowly...  Mission accomplished! rclxm9.gif
Will try ur method if no washroom... hehehe...
Re-position of braces meaning... Dr. will remove all brackets and glue back according to our teeth progress?  Sorry im still new to this... gonna have my 1st appointment end of Dec...
Well, you can try to eat rice. Just ask your mum don't cook too hard (some people like to eat hard rice but i am not). Only people with bite stoper can't take rice because need to shallow with chew.

I also wondering why your bracket so easy loose ? hmm.gif May be when you close your teeth fully, the teeth will hit on the bracket?

yes, is re-position of bracket.. Dr. will remove some of brackets and glue back in slightly different position to tune the teeth position. This happened to me on last visit after 10 months of treament.

Visit Dr. How today. Got him to check my bite stopper. He said, i can do with and without the stopper. But will just leave it as it is now.

Then he pushed is 8 separator into my lower jaw, a 4-holes power chain for my upper jaw, took out the separators from my upper jaw. Ouch. yawn.gif ..i have this tight feeling now. But i enjoy the pain. Cos i know that the teeth are moving  thumbup.gif
*
haha..you also same like me already.. become like the tight feeling. Normally, after 2nd ~3rd week of monthly visit, the teeth will stop feeling tight. I will start wondering.. hmm.. my teeth stop adjust le.. Keep looking forward on next appointment, so that the teeth continue to get force to move. Also, with the tight feeling, i will know my teeth is still inside my mouth ! haha... funny thinking.. tongue.gif

Bite stopper is basically a hard clay to stick it at either ur upper or lower jaw to prevent ur upper and lower from hitting the brackets.

I think not everyone need it. Doctor did it for me but i crushed it when i sleep and when i eat. But after getting it checked, doctor says i dont need it anyway.

with this bite stopper, ur upper and lower wont get to touch each other at all. Cos it creates space in between. That is why many of us find it hard to eat with the bite stopper.

I've been wearing braces for 14 weeks now. And i see major improvement... seriously. Unfortunately i dont hv my pictures files now, or else i an upload it t show you. But actually i did upload pictures before... U try to back track this thread? smile.gif  Edit: You may check post number #398 & #519
But my condition now are even better than when those pictures were taken.  laugh.gif

I shy to tell my age la... Just very old compared to many of you la...  icon_idea.gif
*
White_tulip, debrace ah... not sure le.. i asked Dr. that day.. he said" you are happy with your current condition already ah ?" i just smile and answer.."no la.. i just feel troublesome when having food..all the food stuck at my braces".. that's all. (my mind thinking, let you adjust to the perfect possible la..) i think may be few more month or a year.. i don't know le..

Nikki, no worry. For sure i am the older one.. haha..

Nikki, I totally understand tat! I was also thought of getting braces.. but bcos of financial...it has been put aside for quite a long time.. until i get into university...i really wana do that but hell I dun even have enuf money to pay for my fees...Tot can do during study time and de-brace it when I graduate and then can become pretty pretty and step into the working society...

Till now..financial is allowed (very heart pain though) and I have the courage to do it at this old age!! Dun wana drag it anymore!! really wish to put my braces asap and wait for tat day to tanggal it and my new life begins haha~  rolleyes.gif

Your teeth is getting better d wor even though was juz 14 weeks... thumbup.gif

My case is seriously horrible than you no joke... and im sure that Im older than you lah!! haha! laugh.gif
*
I think the reason for us to wear braces and fix the teeth have common reason for most of us.. we all have kind of similar story..financial issue and can't do it at young stage.. been become ppl chat topic due to ugly during school times.. I already use to it when ppl mentioned my teeth after many year..it almost get used to it.. till this time..before i geting brace..the year..I think is year 2007.. i start a new relationship with a gal.. her parent was comment on my teeth again.. and my body thin.. those word was hurted me a lot..so, i decide to fix the teeth, even though i have financial commitment issue on other stuff.. anyhow, we still break out due to her hugh aiming on the realistic stuff..

But i still glad that i step out and wear the braces biggrin.gif my teeth is better now.. and i gain the confident better than last time smile.gif

Sorry, a bit out of braces topic.tongue.gif just express my feel saja..

Nikki's In-Ovation is clear ceramict ype..the bracket is transparent, so not easy to notice from a distance. Prices also a bit expensive than Damon. THe Damon 3MX that using by me is full metal without ceramic. http://www.ormco.com/index/damon-products-damon3mx-2

Nikki,
Yes.. from your recent photo, we can see your improvement already !! it is noticeable ! Thanks for your support smile.gif We are just living in reality world.

Jayyen,
Actually, i did applied from government during secondary school. The Dr. said need to extract 4 teeths. So, i went to the 1st appontment, the lady Dr. try so hard to extract my 1st teeth on left.. end up, she asked another dr. (lady also) to extract my teeth. The 2nd Dr, close to my ear and said" you must relax, so that we able to extract you teeth..if I also can't extract the teeth..no one else able to do so in here"..I was so scare, that time the teeth already half way pulled by 1st dr. So, i try to calm down and relax..Lucky, the 2nd dr. can extract it out easily. After that, I told my mum, i don't want go for 2nd appointment for 2nd teeth. This is my story lo.. One thing i learned, must relax your muscle, else the Dr. not easy to pull the teeth. Since your jaw already no feeling by medicine injection, just open mouth big and trust the Dr. Let Dr. complete the job, this will help better.

I don't need to extract teeth for this Damon system. You may saw my photo on pages 1 post by Green_Apple, the first 2 photo is taken on 9th Jan 2008. Besides the teeth no straight, i had the over bites issue as well.

One year had over, here i post another photo taken on 10th Jan 2009. smile.gif Green_Apple, Where are you ? Long time no news lioa.. Your recent photo also a bit out of focus but i think is almost done and very nice ady.

I just visited Dr. How to fix my bracket noon, he said my upper able to hit on the bracket, so he put a small bite stop at my back of teeth to prevent the upper touch the lower bracket. I went to drink hot milo during tea time...the bracket loose again.. Hai.. need to set another appointment on this Thursday lunch time.
