QUOTE(ijan @ Sep 12 2018, 02:54 PM) aw man you ppl got all the wrong info any bare wood when stained (your term polished) will change color to a varying degree. Imagine just using water on bare wood, the color will darken abit, so how would you get a stain that doesnt change the color of the grain?! The putih is paint, its a different thing. QUOTE(weikee @ Sep 12 2018, 05:32 PM) Oil just bring up the wood color. If you need the wood to be another color before oiling, you need to stained the wood. I think you guys got me wrong, I actually don't mind the wood turning colour into darker (like kena water) or brownish. I just cannot accept that IKEA Behandla Beeswax turned it into a banana colour |

QUOTE(yushin @ Sep 12 2018, 04:47 PM) Some ACE hardware has MINWAX water based PU. But the price rm160 per liter... Please do share, just in case my teak oil turn out bad, I can get a new solution hahaAnother water based clear coat can buy from hardware store, forget the brand. Looks milky when wet then will clear up when dry. But still yellowish in color. Later I go home take picture of the water based coat. QUOTE(ar188 @ Sep 12 2018, 08:54 PM) Linseed oil, Wood oil, Lead free drying agent, Emulsifier so I need to find something with no linseed oil to prevent that weird yellow colour?cannot leh.. it has linseed oil. it will turn yellow. you need white pigments for white washing style. ikea should have it also. but still its oil based. anyway, if no pigments, you need polycrylic (waterbased poly) wont turn yellow. ![]() QUOTE(ar188 @ Sep 12 2018, 08:55 PM) I am not sure, but brown sounds better to me than yellow. yellow does not look like natural wood at all |

Is depend what is the purpose and resistance you need too.
You can applied lemon oil or PU. Most local hardware shop call PU as varnish. You can also burn the surface and sand it prior applied PU to bring out the grain. ![]() PU will more water resistance but the surface will feel like acrylic compares to lemon oil.
