So basically this is my first time trying to polish bare wood. And after consulting uncle Google I decided to try IKEA Behandla beeswax polish.

I followed the instructions, sand my wood, even apply some moisture on the sanded wood because the instructions says it's better like that. Then apply the beeswax and wait for it to dry.

The beeswax itself is white liquid colour, however after leaving the wood to dry, the colour turned so yellow I don't even recognize it anymore. Was it my problem, or it's the nature of beeswax to turn the wood colour yellowish?? I understand that polishing will make the wood color turn darker but this is not "darker", it's yellower...

Most the wood after polished it will more bright won't darker , if you want darker go hardware shop buy a acrylic or ppl usually call crylic after they remove the A, if you want the darker color for outdoor in Malaysia apply epoxy or solvent color paint , or just use any oil apply to surface sure will be yellow and period of time will go dark or water flush away and you need apply again since environment issue , example like you see those mechanic wood they use so black mostly absorb engine oil or type other oil and dirty , when the wood moisture dry eventually from white become yellow , if you saw those wood so white mostly have been bleach , example like daily milk you see white after boil and chemical reaction become yellow

bought IVAR rack some time ago.
The rack look pale in color.
After applying ikea beewax ( i think I apply 2 coat) the rack looks nicer and yes it is yellowish.

If u want natural colour, just apply 2 coats of water based PU. Need to sand in between coats with 180 to 500 grit sandpaper.

Is it same ? This is what I use.

no way it will remain the same color after you apply wax or oil
just like you soak it in water, it will change color too

I think he buy the wrong color.

should buy white like yours.
cannot be like the natural color but close
even if you dont do anything, the wood will gets darker as it ages

I do brought a wrong color at 1st. Didn't see the top sample sticker.

Bring back and exchange.

But advise not use this Ikea coat paint. After 2 yrs, can see the result. Some stain and mold. Hard to clean the dirt also.

Better use Satin wood or just leave it bare.

Same. Used this paint for my mom's garden chair (about a year ago) and now it looks like it's covered with stains. Disappointing

Apply oil will be nicer.

really?? I didn't want to become brighter or darker, but just not this yellow, this is not wood at all, feels so banana...

after 1 coating I already cannot accept the yellowish colour

where to get water based PU? I went to check Ace Hardware, all are oil based

yours is white stain paint, I prefer to coat it with a transparent one so that the wood colour is still there

the white paint now is strained and moldy?

In the end I bought teak oil I found from Ace hardware, haven't tried, but hope not another weird color that I cannot accept..

aw man you ppl got all the wrong info

any bare wood when stained (your term polished) will change color to a varying degree.
Imagine just using water on bare wood, the color will darken abit, so how would you get a stain that doesnt change the color of the grain?!

The putih is paint, its a different thing.

Some ACE hardware has MINWAX water based PU. But the price rm160 per liter...
Another water based clear coat can buy from hardware store, forget the brand. Looks milky when wet then will clear up when dry. But still yellowish in color.
Later I go home take picture of the water based coat.

Oil just bring up the wood color. If you need the wood to be another color before oiling, you need to stained the wood.

Linseed oil, Wood oil, Lead free drying agent, Emulsifier

cannot leh.. it has linseed oil. it will turn yellow.

you need white pigments for white washing style. ikea should have it also. but still its oil based.

anyway, if no pigments, you need polycrylic (waterbased poly) wont turn yellow.
