In 1911-1930 , it's actually the replubic of china getting the upper hand over communists china. Communist china is reduced to only 1 single provience until the japanese attack china in 1932. Both republic china and communist china agreed on ceasefire to fight against japanese agressor.

After world war 2 ended. China civil war resume where both republic china and communist china is on equal footings. Republic china lost to communist because whenever communist china take over city, they open the granary to give good to the people + spreading propaganda like " before revolution, we are the slave to the nobles. After revolution, we are the slave to the slave", making them getting more and more influence in China as people savior. Yes, a bag of grain is winning the war for communist china. Losing the battle, Republic china fled to taiwan.

That's why taiwan claimed they are the real china. If we look back at the the Chinese national flag in 1920, its the koumintang flag (white star with blue circle) which was used by taiwan until today.

Amazing how a few generations of better nutrition/diet can change entire populations....

In fact the whole world was shorter and smaller 100 years ago, compared to today. So a lot of movies where they showing the era is olden days is simply NOT accurate, especially if it depicts Asia.

Because the people looked different back then (worse looking mostly) and smaller size.

Nowadays, even people around 50 years old, still look like 30s, but such a phenomenon was unthinkable 100-70 years ago.

People expected to grow old at 50 and become grandpa and grandma. They never exercise also. They had no gym, no knowledge about health.

Not any more these days.....

You're right I guessed. With improved food science, we can get access to better and safer food nutrients and improving our lifestyle, health and longevity.

Compare to old time where life expectancy is low, around 50-60 years, ( I guessed from the age of each longest servings emporer kangxi and yong zheng who died of old age)

Not commoner but proves pretty, beautiful gal did exist in old era
