Those pictures are usually during the time when famine and civil war, if late 1800s the Qing dynasty is already on its last legs, government defunct and ridden with opium, no different when it fall, maybe worse during Chiang kai shek’s time as I heard a British missionary said there’s dead bodies on the streets and these elites don’t see them as human, it’s no wonder why communism too over so fast.
