What does the waiting list look like for Malaysian R fanatics? Although I placed my FD2-R order on May 20th, Sep 3rd is my delivery date. A fellow who ordered his the following weekend had another MONTH tacked-on to his delivery date! What I was told by the dealer is that Honda underestimated how popular this car would be, and that projected sales were surpassed by 6 TIMES!

Now throwing the country of Malaysia into the mix too. I suppose they'd be getting their JDM R's from the same factory? Wow, I wouldn't be surprised if Malaysian orders were in the 5 to 6 month waiting game (or more?). I ordered roughly 2 months after the CTR debut and when the car finally gets to me, i'll have waited just shy of 4 months. Malaysians would be ordering theirs 5 months after debut. I can tell you, this wait is KILLING me...hehehe, but I guess I should count my lucky stars I don't live in Malaysia! Man I feel sorry for those of you there who are hoping to order the CTR!

Old habits die hard. To Honda, as long as a car is not launched, they cannot officially admit to its existence, eventhough the whole world already knows about it !

Honda Malaysia orders based on batches. The first batch is 45 units in one go, to arrive in 3 batches over 3 months. As far as I was told, all units are now booked. In fact a TOVA reader who booked TWO weeks ago (i.e. 2 weeks BEFORE the official launch) is already on place no. 16 in the queue.

Yes, the Malaysian units are bona-fide real CTRs, from the same Suzuka plant. I think Honda R&D is quite sore at Honda Malaysia for giving them more headache than what they already have with this demand-supply imbalance.
