i'm going to change my exhaust piping....any body can share experience and suggestion?
currently i'm using my old d15b standard piping...damn semput la...
my b16a currently is stock standard...stock airbox&filter...stock extractor...stock fuel regulator...
*
dump ur airbox. get an intake pipe with an open pod. (recommend apexi). or a CAI setup. it'll make a big difference. stock exhaust manifold should be fine. retain ur existing piping (or get slightly bigger ones...maybe at 1.7". i think stock is only 1.5". slightly bigger pipes will be good for high revs). then get urself a straight-flow muffler and u're good to go.

maybe some sifus here can give some tips.

ehh.. ok.. intake its a "i tink u call it open pod" apexi mushroom filter.
exhaust is.i tink from the extractor is 4-2-1;2.3, bullet, 2.5,bullet, 2.3, 2, s flow muffler.

yes yes i know this combination is super the rojak, i have no idea why it was done this way. rclxub.gif hmm.gif

but hell, it gives me super good FC & super quiet car laugh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

anyway, if u were to use the open pod air filter, i feel the engine bay can get quite hot n the filter jst keep sucking in hot air, which will decrease the performance.

so i thought get the filter box, covering the air filter; DIY a similar cold air intake.
connect a silicon hose to the black box and place the end of the hose to take in fresh air.

i tink tats reasonable.

so u mean ur piping is from collector 2.3--->2.5--->2.3---->2.0 muffler? looks like a bottleneck ma....

how was the performance both at bottom and top-end?

and btw CAI mean u redirect ur filter to suck cooler air from outside(using hose etc)
that thing that u're going to do is called a heatshield...both to prevent the mushroom sucking hot air from the engine bay

Bro, you want the best exhaust for your car? I have a few frens using this setup on their B16A. Balanced between pickup and top end thumbup.gif 4-1 extractor, 2 inch bullet, 2 inch piping follow ori route and straight flow muffler(5zigen 304) wakakaka laugh.gif The whole point of a 'performance' exhaust is that we want the gases to flow out as FAST as possible smile.gif

w00t! i agree!!

i used to have this setup....all the same except my muffler was the 5zigen border. and it was the 'tembak langit' setup on my ex-EF. it was good. no power loss that i could feel.

but then again i never tried the car with a 2.3 setup before la. biggrin.gif

If do open pod.. should also install a AF controller too... this will sure give u soomth rev to red line... a good exzo system (from header to the back box) said 2.5" pipe do help alot. also a 4-2-1 or 4-1 header will depend on the driver need.... as our 120Y also use a ~2.2" pipe can give a 1.5 wira a good run....hehe

Moon,
nope my ride no a handa... but do like to ge the DC5 type-r a good car for track day, if there is spare $$ in the biggy bag... hehe... btw u can join the HPC event... as open track days r less nowaday.. susah. also a track day is for fun drive not a race....
