RinggitPlus Readers’ Choice Awards 2020: Affin Duo, Maybank, TNG eWallet Emerge As Big Winners

Favourite E-Wallet App In Malaysia: Touch ‘n Go eWallet (43.3%)
- As one of the three biggest e-wallet apps in Malaysia, Touch ‘n Go eWallet manages to win this category quite comfortably. TNG eWallet’s popularity stems from it already being a household name with a huge pool of users before e-wallets were even a thing, and to its credit, TNG Digital has built on that popularity to deliver a solid e-wallet app that – as you’ll find below – is both rewarding and versatile.

Most Rewarding E-Wallet App: Touch ‘n Go eWallet (31.5%)
- This is a more of a close fight, as GrabPay is a close second place with 27.9% of the votes. Despite not having a rewards system in place, TNG eWallet users appear to prefer the campaign-driven partnerships and enjoy discounts on popular retail and F&B outlets, such as Tealive, Family Mart, and of course, Lazada.

Most Versatile E-Wallet App: Touch ‘n Go eWallet (42.1%)
- A runaway winner for this category, TNG eWallet’s success here is likely due to the RFID integration, allowing users to link their cars with their TNG eWallet to pay for tolls seamlessly. It is easily the best feature of the e-wallet, with perhaps the Lazada integration being a close second.
- On top of that, TNG Digital has been hard at work to make its e-wallet more useful, via partnerships with food delivery services as well as parking payment options in popular spots.

I use Grabpay. Sometimes I don't get the rewards promised by TnG. Boost rewards are by chance and you have to spend a lot.

Sarawak's e-wallet gets a name change, overseas payments now possible | The Star

KUCHING: Sarawak's e-wallet application is now known as SPay Global and may now be used internationally with its newest feature upgrade.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg said this would enable the e-wallet initially known as Sarawak Pay to be used for overseas payments which accept the UnionPay QR code.

"This is another milestone achieved in the pursuit of digitalising Sarawak.

"We have completed the integration work with UnionPay and I would like to thank UnionPay for collaborating with us," he said when launching the feature here on Thursday (March 4).

Abang Johari said the collaboration was the result of a memorandum of understanding signed with UnionPay in April 2019.

"I am happy to see that today we have successfully realised our aspirations to go global and that our Sarawak Pay e-wallet can be used for seamless, cashless transactions internationally," he said.

Abang Johari said it was now timely for the state-owned e-wallet to be renamed SPay Global to reinforce its branding and presence on the global stage.

In line with this, he said the state government would seek Bank Negara's approval for a bigger e-wallet size of up to 1,000 euros (RM4,888).

Sarawak Pay's current wallet limit is RM3,000.

Since its launch in November 2017, Sarawak Pay has recorded over 23 million transactions with the total amount surpassing RM1bil.

It has 496,000 users and close to 70,000 participating merchants in Sarawak.

"We expect to see further growth with this UnionPay partnership," Abang Johari said.

China UnionPay president Cai Jianbo, who joined the launch virtually from Shanghai, said UnionPay was pleased to collaborate with Sarawak on the cross-border payment capability.

"Sarawak Pay users can now conveniently pay by scanning the UnionPay QR code in Malaysia and at over 30 million merchants in 45 markets, including Australia, Britain, China,

Yet to receive BNM's approval to rename Sarawak Pay to Spay Global!
Can't travel so I don't activate Unionpay feature (need eKYC again) at this moment.

E-wallet, e-wages platform launched | Borneo Post Online

Masidi (third left) and Yayasan Bumiputra Sabah chairman Senator Datuk John Ambrose at the launch of the e-wallet and e-wages system at Hilton Hotel.

KOTA KINABALU: The launch of an e-wallet and e-wages platform for the digitisation of wages for all workers in Sabah, both local and foreign, is a good step towards encouraging government agencies to develop their own platforms.

Technology should be embraced to increase efficiency, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

“We are in the process of digitisation. Many services by the government as well as other companies are now digital. This shows that we welcome the development of technology and view these advancements as an advantage to make services more efficient,” said Masidi.

He spoke to reporters after witnessing the signing ceremony between YBS Digital Sdn Bhd and AIM Innovations Sdn Bhd, at the launch of the e-wallet and e-wages platform here, on Thursday.

YBS Digital Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Yayasan Bumiputra Sabah, launched the platform to digitise wages for all workers in Sabah, both local and foreign. YBS Digital aims to work with companies and employers in Sabah to adopt the e-wallet and e-wages system in their existing payroll system.

During a briefing, Izam Hasri Othman of AIM Innovation said the platform includes an e-wallet as well as a payroll card with various features specifically designed to meet requirements of employers and employees alike.

“This platform is being launched in partnership with AIM Innovations Sdn Bhd and Instapay Technologies Sdn Bhd, which is an approved e-money issuer by Bank Negara Malaysia.

“Instapay is an authorised Mastercard issuer and works with IME Ria for Remittance. Instapay cards can be used in Malaysia as well as globally at millions of Mastercard merchants and for withdrawing cash from ATMs.

“Cross border remittance, mobile top-ups — domestic and international — P2P fund transfers and Payroll are some of the key features of Instapay e-wallet,” Izam explained.

The government should do something about the abundance of e- wallet. There's just too many of them. Should just regulate the whole thing and only let a couple of them in the market.

What else mymy can offer. My guess is it's just like MAE: cheap FX rate (which not many use) and beautiful dashboardy app. I'd be delighted the two angmo founders prove me wrong
