TM have just replace my Tp-Link C1200 router with DIR-842 around 2 weeks ago because of warranty claim.

I found that this DIR-842 perform well, much better then Tp-Link C1200.

BTU : ONU-ALCATEL-LUCENT-1240G
Router : RG-MARITIME-RGX4400

you mean this? smile.gif
*
Yup.
BTU = no problem
Router = no problem

Let focus on your desktop computer wifi chip.
You mentioned your desktop wifi chip can only support 2.4Ghz band. May I know your desktop wifi chip model?

edit:
Next, can you install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?....analyzer&hl=en on your Samsung J7 Pro phone? Please post the screenshot of how many 2.4Ghz hotspot around your area.

Confirm will change the router and usb Wi-Fi adapter to Ac55 ...  but the current router Asus Rtn12hpb1, what's the actual Wi-Fi speed , wired speed?
*
Asus Rtn12hpb1 = doesn't matter wifi or lan, the top speed you will get is 95 - 97 Mbps. WAN port is Fast Ethernet 100Mbps (This is the main limitation)

How do I check the Wi-Fi chip in DWA131?
8
I will now install the Wi-Fi Analyzer. The screenshot... my Wi-Fi is MSUC0096
*
DWA131?
An USB 2.0 device. USB 2.0 has raw bandwidth of 480Mbps. USB 2.0 has 20% protocol overhead. Effective bandwidth available is 384Mbps. No bottleneck as your DWA131 raw wifi bandwidth is 300Mbps.

Unfortunately....from your wifi analyser screenshot.....you will have hard time getting that effective 60% of 300Mbps bandwidth.... sweat.gif
You are sharing your 2.4ghz air time (broadcast time) with 5 different hotspots. Think of it as interference which resulted in non-usable data.

See the edited picture below. The area under the curve is your 180Mbps ( 60% of 300Mbps, remember, wifi protocol overhead ).

I have colored your usable area (bandwidth) in pink color.
user posted image
If you still remember how to calculate area from secondary school.......then you will know what is your actual effective speed after deducting those overlapping areas.

edit: From rough looking at your wifi analyser result......roughly 50% of your bandwidth is gone from overlapping hotspots from your neighbours.

So....160Mbps divided by another 50% = 80Mbps......... sweat.gif
This is the best case scenario from your screenshot.

Some routers save power by lowering transmit power when not in use. If your neighbour starts to use their 2.4 ghz wifi as well....I imagine the interference will be worse.......

EDIT 2 : In your screenshot, why does your 2.4ghz is connected at 20mhz channel width? Please force 40Mhz at your RGX4400 router. Eh? Silap tengok. mega_shok.gif

shocking.gif Any remedy for temporally, before i saved up enough money for both D-Link AC1900 (DIR-878 ) Wifi router and USB AC55  ?
*
sweat.gif
Wireless = no hope.
Using LAN cable........is your only hope for desktop pc.

If you wanna buy new router.....better buy router that can support additional 5ghz DFS channels. (I think RGX4400 supports 5Ghz DFS channel, can you check?)
Most routers without support for 5ghz DFS channels only have 5ghz channel 36 - 48 and 149 - 165. Only two selection when using 80Mhz channel width and thus chance of overlapping with your neighbour 5ghz is higher.......it get worse if you live at high rise building. whistling.gif

I don't know if DIR-878 has support for 5ghz DFS channels. sleep.gif EDIT: You will never get 500Mbps with Asus USB AC55, best you can get is 450Mbps.....if there is no interference or obstacle....
..
Just look at this picture.
user posted image

Ignore the 160Mhz as virtually 'no' client device will support 160Mhz channel width.

Lol the info teaches you how to make yourself turbo..

Ya ke? hmm.gif I thought TM will not use default username and password for their OLT....

I just wanna log into I-240G-T to enable extra LAN ports.........and thus I search around for documentation......before I found that document.

Because this http://hotspotsystem.com.my/index.php?rout...log&blog_id=129 kinda pointless where I don't know the ONU password.....I suspect the ONU password might be NewSiebelAddressId, AddressId, TMServiceInstanceId, TMReservationId or even Id from your rhombuscake site. Thus I never really try.......too many possibilities. hmm.gif

Because this BTU is ancient!
To get turbo, need to change hardware and stuff.
This will be TM lowest priority
*
I am not sure about that.
I have modern I240G-T and TPLink C1200, yet, both of my accounts are slated for Jan - June 2019 upgrade from Turbo eligibility website last time. bangwall.gif

So, those who say only subscribers who have old BTU and old router will be upgraded next year are wrong.

That why TM removed eligibility check website quickly.
TM can just ask existing customers to wait forever.

ONU password should be set to a default value either common to TM or alcatel. U can try ans#1** (asterisks redacted for privacy pls check pdf) as that is the olt password. It might work. If not u need to pull the xml config file from tm management vlan200, more info in the doc.
*
On the other hand.....I better give up on unlocking ONU....... sweat.gif Sound like it is much troublesome than I expect...

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Sep 12 2018, 11:24 AM)
According to the olt manual, turbo speed is dependent on 4 factors
Pppoe speed cap
Gpon speed cap
Onu ethernet 100/1000
Olt configuration for eth bridge 100/1000 (prob the problem)
*
Speaking of which......were you able to turbo yourself? I don't think the manual has instruction for outsider to do so. hmm.gif

Just tested the TP-Link c1200 router that is included with the unifi installation by TM with a recently
turbo-ed connection at 800 mbps against a mikrotik RB750Gr3 router.

So it looks like if your connection is turbo-ed to 500mbps
you might be able to get by (just barely) with the tplink c1200
router that TM includes for free with their unifi package but
if you are turbo-ed to 800 mbps you will have to seriously
consider upgrading the tplink router to something more capable.

These are the only Gigabit capable routers I have on hand to test
and if I get my hands on any others I will retest and post it here.

*
Hmm? blink.gif Extreme Broadband speedtest server? This one cannot be relied upon.

Try our local TM Server Speedtest again for C1200. http://speedtest.tm.com.my/
With NAT Boost and LAN, it can handle 800Mbps just fine.

I checked mine yesterday, only 100mbps. upgraded to 500mbps

there's a misunderstanding, i got my turbo'ed to 500mbps last night, after restart, i only get 100mbps only. After asking, i found out my BTU port only up to 100mbps...

your statement is VERY INSULTING
*
My statement is made out of care for fellow human.

Those LARGE speedtest screenshots posted by Martha_Fokker clearly displayed results above 100Mbps which indicates his BTU port is 1Gbps as clarified by cucubud

If you feel insulted when someone care for you, then I have no comment. dry.gif

Hi guys, need advice on my home setup. Currently Im using tp link wr941hp to cover my three story house. Ive gotten the 500mbps upgrade but the speed much lower from the previous 50mbps. Ive read through the 1st page and cant decide which router that can at least give me improve speed on wifi throughout the whole house on 2.4ghz tho since 5 ghz has shorter distance.

My current setup:
Main router: tp link wr941hp
Extender(3rd floor): TL-WA850RE(which I connect through the lan and onto my laptop and ive got full speed 50mbps before)
Wireless client: around 15 devices during peak time.

BTU to router using Cat5e given by TM before and yet wired connection to my laptop still cant get pass 50mbps(cat 5e).

Seriously i need to help to get better setup in this three story house and which router to buy since i bought and AC router which perform worst than my 10years TPLINK DDWRT router.
*
May we know what was your AC router model which you bought before? hmm.gif

15 wireless devices.....hmm, seem like you really need those expensive MU-MIMO functionality.

is tp link wdr4300 n750. Is an old router as well(dont know which year i bought).
*
......but this one doesn't even support 802.11AC.......

It only has support for 802.11N 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz...... (2x2:2 for 2.4ghz 300Mbps and 3x3:3 for 5ghz 450Mbps, I rarely seen any client devices with support for 3x3:3 802.11N* 5.0ghz 450Mbps)

edit: I think you better buy a MU-MIMO router. Although I really doubt if your current clients hardware can support multiple spatial streams.

Just got turbo-ed to 500mbps. I've read the green text on page 1 countless times and rechecked everything and nothing seems to pop to me as to why I'm only getting 92mbps - 95mbps download speeds on wired connection.

My equipment are as follows:
Modem: TMUnifi-issued HUAWEI HG8240w (Cat5e cable connecting to router)
Router: ASUS RT-N12HP
Ethernet cable from router to PC: Cat5e LAN cable off Lazada https://goo.gl/tP4Zo6 (bought not too long ago, highly doubt its the issue?)

Another thing is, 1st page green text point number 4 on 'Your router is not configured or correctly, which limits your connection speed to 100Mbps, instead of 1000Mbps.', how do I reconfigure my ASUS router to support 1gigbit? Thanks in advance.
*
StuartLee2015 just asked the same question for 3 days straight. doh.gif
No way. ASUS RT-N12HP WAN port is limited to Fast Ethernet 100Mbps. This is your router hardware limitation.
