2 weeks of Brembo semi-metallic pads. Looks horrible. Thinking going back to Proton OEM. I didn't wash the car for months when using Proton/Mintye brake pad, it never looked as horrible as this.




it's uses OBDII port but different protocol or something. don't know why car manufacturer can't agree on one protocol make life easier. 2010 proton car probably can use. old proton a bit more headache.

looking at the cheap OBD scanners available on shopee, seems like for old proton need to use the bluetooth dongle paired with android. no iOS option. i think i'm gonna give up on this idea.

Simple brake pad change job, then found out that the left drive shaft had a case of diarrhea. fml. and if look at the stabilizer link, the boot has degraded badly. so lesson here, don't use cheap part. my mistake to put my trust on some unknown dodgy workshop.

should repair the boot and regrease or just change the whole thing? 2 years old brand gaido.

On other hand, I changed the brake pad from Brembo to AFI Ceramate ceramic pad. First impression is, wow, no brake noise at all. Found AFI brake just opened their shopee mall in this month, got the brake pad for RM70.

last time repair, i was charged RM80 but the drive shaft was beyond saving at that point. end up replace it anyway. new part is RM200, labor probably RM30 or 50.

i ordered new part on shopee already. this time buy Lucas brand. The workshop I frequent rarely do a one day job.

really bad luck la one thing after another decided to went bad. looking at the tie rod end, also starting to see cracks on the rubber boot.

but on the bright side, the temperature gauge on the meter suddenly works properly now. that's one thing off the list.

i'm going to take the car for a night drive later to test the brakes..

So, because the front end need to be disassembled I decided to change few parts as well.

New rack end, tie rod end, stabilizer link 555 Japan brand, total buy from shopee RM220. New rubber boots for drive shafts both sides, grease, labor and whatnot, RM500.

Alignment RM100 - rear camber bolt decided to do funny thing as well, so need new bolt and redo.

Total is.. RM820. I got a thumbs up from workshop for my effort maintaining the car and keeping their business afloat.

Actually I ordered new drive shafts from shopee since friday, but two time got problem and have to cancel. So I take that as a sign that maybe fate telling me to repair instead of replace the drive shafts.

I replaced tie rod end, rack end and stabilizer link as well. Those job adds to the total 500. The rack end and tie rod end that comes with steering rack I bought back in 2020 was crap, better replace it with quality parts.

Also, this week I found out that J&T stopped doing deliveries on weekend. And you cannot self pickup because the delivery hub is closed. So, better plan your next shopee purchase wisely.

Anyone have experience with leaking brake fluid from the master cylinder cap? I don't have any abnormalities when braking, just happen to notice there's brake fluid leaking. The cylinder cap was loose - usually it's a real bitch to take it off but today it comes off easily.

Same as mine. I just treat it as non issue. Some times turn on the ignition, nothing, no crank. 2nd time engine crank and start like normal. Happened just now lol.

After 2 hours driving, looks like the reservoir is dry. Confirmed leak is from cap not properly tightened after major service early this week.

Always a new problem with this car...

This morning I drive the car, nothing unusual. 1 hour drive highway. On the afternoon, I noticed that the steering wheel is pointed to the left when going straight. Like maybe 10 degree off from the center and very noticeable.

Stopped by the usual wheel shop. Ask to look why this thing happen, because last alignment did was few days ago. They pump some air for the wheels, 5 minute test drive and put the car on the alignment machine... found out nothing was abnormal. The boss said probably bad steering rack or the 3 years old tire is about time for a change. During test drive they said the car is normal and steering wheel is centered. I declined tire change because I'm broke already for the month.

When I drive home from the shop, suddenly now the steering wheel is centered. what just happened here?? lack of tire pressure?

Didn't do any alignment today tho. Just put on machine, see the reading all within spec. Test drive also nothing. Really weird.

Nah don't worry. It has been like this for years on my car. Just roll with it.

I think this is one of the problem that only replace when it finally really not working. No use worrying about it, if really cannot start, can call insurance towing service no problem.

All the bushes on the front end is quite new. Barely 2 years old at this point.

never noticed it become serious.

however i do notice some funny little clunking noise when i put the car on accessory mode coming from under the engine. doesnt happen all the time. definitely not coming from the throttle body.

A bit of general talk, how often do you change the engine oil and ATF?

I'm using shell fully synthetic 5w40, noticed the engine running a bit rough after 7000km and 10 months.

ATF I use Aisin AFW+. After 1 year and 8 months I change because the auto gear shifting starts to feel like crap. Mileage was 15000km. I was targeting for the ATF to last 2 years or 20,000km.

After this I'm thinking maybe ATF should change once every year and full synthetic engine oil only for 6000km.

I scared brake cleaner will be bad for the plastic parts. I just give a good wipe with a cloth rag. For the brake fluid that got onto the lower arm, I spray brake cleaner but at some part it just won't come off.

I think can, but i wouldn't do that.

I once put from D to P when trying to diagnose my car. Good thing car was on jack stand, just the wheels spinning.

If anyone need a new meter for Auto Non ABS Persona/Gen2, I think I'm selling mine. PW855505. New-ish with about 250km on odometer. Used for a week.

Why? Because this new meter acting weird with my car. Mornings when the engine cold, the fuel meter refuses to move. Fuel meter will become normal after drive the car few minutes and restart the engine. At times when turning the key to accessory mode, engine not started, the RPM meter moved a bit.

Currently I'm trying to return the meter to the seller, but I don't think guy would accept the return. Waiting for the seller to confirm with the supplier because usually these part don't come with warranty.

I really don't know if the problem is with the meter or my car. Because as the seller said, this is the first time a new meter doesn't work right. Now I'm using my old meter that was repaired 2nd time - and the repair guy said, this is also his first time customer return to him for 2nd round meter repair.

No idea. Without a second car to test the new meter, can't say.

What's more puzzling that it only happen during cold start in the morning.

I have my suspicion that the seller might sell a known lemon unit to me, the meter have 4km on odometer when installed. But by the looks of it, the guy also surprised to see that 4km.
