Dont just look at the outer surface. When the engine is not running, try to touch the inner surface. You will definitely feel that the inner surface is rough already.
*
Hi jalanloh bro, I don't really have any technical opinion to contribute, but if it involves major repair, it's always worth getting a second opinion.

On the side note, if you keep your timing belt covered well using the cover, it'll last longer as dust doesn't get in easily. The cover got sponge adjacent to the camhead side that always degrade due to engine heat.

Hi wanna ask something

Can u recommend me a good absorber. I dont know to choose between proride, monroe, kyb, apm or gab. I want the standard one, not too stiff or soft.

Which one is good eh ?

My persona already 11 years old and odo shows 145,000 km but never change absorber.

Other than absorber link, are there any part that i should change together when i change my absorber ? I wanna save the labour cost hehehe
*
I'd say just go for KYB OEM if it's the standard experience you want. But do make note that a lot of workshops and sparepart shops equate persona absorber to gen2 absorber to waja absorber. So make sure you go to KYB website and download their parts number for persona OEM absorber. Gen2 and waja rear absorbers are somewhat shorter and causes the link bush to crack.

I usually change absorber mountings and absorber covers and whatnot all together but people usually don't bother with them.

One thing to note is on the rear sway bar link bush make sure your foreman don't bolt the nut all the way until the end, the bush will just crack. Ini proton technician teach one.

Guys, i am experiencing jerking on my persona especially during low speed. I have sent the car to reset the ECU twice , cleaned throttle body, replaced spark plug , but the problem persists. Any solution to resolve the jerking issue ?
*
Was it you or wklow28 bro who had the same problem last time? Have you rule out TCU problem if your drive is AT?

QUOTE(cloudstrife07 @ Feb 18 2019, 01:02 AM)
Guys mau tanya.

My persona feels really sluggish. Need to press to 3k+ RPM only feel like its moving.

Is it due to EO? Previously was using Liqui Moly now using Petronas Syntium 3000. Mileage now around 114k km. Next service 120k km.

Or maybe due to IAFM? How to know if its from IAFM?

Or is it due to other things? Hmm.
*
Have you changed a new air filter? It's always a cheap fix for me. Petronas EO tend to degrade faster for my ride. Around 3,000km after oil change I already can feel engine noise coarse, could be because of that, could be not. If IAFM it's the famous diesel-engine like tak tak tak sound. Can easily get diagnosed and fixed in Zordaq, or other shop that provide IAFM repair.

I was thinking along the line of your TCU connector issue.. but better investigate from cheaper parts like engine mounting mentioned by @anakMY bro.

Hopefully not either throttle body spoiled, or wiring issue.

For ypur reference, last time i got issue throttle body stuck at certain position, ended up the car can only max 2k rpm, drive slow slow to a workshop which said it's throttle body spoiled, so tukar one. Didn't solve the problem, workshop ask me to get help from proton edar & tow to there.

Proton Edar plentong was kind enough to test all components from accelerator pedal, ECU, and throttle body by trying new ones on my car, in the end they didn't found anything wrong with these parts. So they proceed to check the most troublesome component: the wiring bundle.

They trace the wiring bundle from throttle body to ECU, cutting open hoping to find an exposed wire or short, eventually they didn't found anything except the bundle was wet. After they let it dry, and packed back the bundle, and probably planning to call me for saying this is out of their repairing skills, my car started fine. Worst part of the story is since proton didn't change any parts, they only charge me RM60 OBD scanning fee. Making me feel so bad.

Get your car scanned for OBD code bro. Then only you can work on it. And you really need to meet good Samaritan like Proton Edar that do the free job for me. Wiring problem a lot of workshop outside not willing to do since it's time intensive and low revenue generation.

Edit: Anyway i got an all new Persona Elegance throttle body sitting somewhere in my store room. If you in JB i can pass to you for testing. Lol

As mentioned previously, there workaround solution to your complain is... Change car! This is the normal behavior of our car to rev up and down during traffic jam slow moving maneuver, sometime the gear confused and reluctant then suddenly change, thus the "jerking". You can't accept this behavior then have no choice other than looking for another car...

Guys, what is the lifespan of the timing belt. Mine is 5 yrs car , clocked 65k km so far . Thinking of changing... And is there a need to change the ATF oil filter ? is it expensive to change the ATF oil filter ?
*
I always assumed timing belt last a bit longer than fan belt as it's covered from dust and all sorts of elemental insult.. So I change it together since consequences of broken timing belt is kind of expensive i.e. need top overhaul. In your case if it's time to change fan belt then I would change timing belt all together if i were you. I tend to overmaintenance according my foreman but then the car for me is tool for cari makan, so no harm to take preventive mainenance with certain degree of piousness right?

Hi.

Wanna know how much foreman charged you when you install new absorber ?
All 4s RM 200 are normal or expensive ?
*
I got mine changed for around that charges some times ago. Speaking of which, feels like my KYB needs replacement already... How bad was your absorber before you decide to change them? Mine was like a bit swaying but not yet sampan...

Hi everyone,

My car Persona Elegance,
want to change headlight bulb (H4).

I read in manual that first need to disconnect the Harness Connector
(I assume this is the black colour small cube with 3 wires)

But I cannot pull this connector out.

Anyone know how to pull this out?

Thanks.
*
The thing really just cabut. But mine for once melted so need to change. Just check if yours is bulb gone or connector damaged.

I just gt the radiator hose changed for my persona, but the technician refilled the radiator with tap water . Should I send the car for full flush and refill it with 100% coolant again ?
*
If no leak in few days time, i recommend send to flush, and fill it with 50% coolant + 50% distilled water (can use battery water or air suling in supermarket), or those premixed coolant. Most mechanic use tap water because they worried if there's leak then your coolant wasted already.

Using pure coolant will reduce the boiling point of your radiator content to that of alcohol, means that your water pump will work harder to remove specified heat from engine, compared to those 50/50 coolant-water mix. Something like that.

On the side note actually pure water works well for Malaysian weather also. But we need the rust inhibition function of coolant.

Yeah... Don't expect any workshop will give you distilled water.. Is the norm in market. I always bring my own distilled water.

Think it's just not the standard practice. If you sending your car to Proton then you can just bring your own distilled water. If you're sending it to your personal workshop, do consider premixed as it save the trouble of your mechanic to mix it properly.

correction.

proton owners manual suggest change at 120k KM
outside mech and owners suggest change at 80k KM.

why change at 80K,?because 80K mileage calculate not include idling.
we always calculate mileage without consider idling time.

167k mileage, depends on his last timing belt change.
if first change is 80k, already due 7k,
if first change at 90 or 100k, not due yet.
*
Sorry my fault. Both owners manual and service booklet did not mention timing belt change mileage or time.

It's mentioned in service package. The PDFs are attached in thread no.1.

Anyway i always overmaintain my car. It's really up to owner to decide maintenance style. Afterall we all pay for our own car repair kan?

how much does a fan belt cost? I think quite cheap only right. Do anyone here experience rattling sound from front doors? Its something inside. Mostly when the weather is cooler like in the morning there is sound. Hot afternoon no sound.
*
Yeah it's not really expensive... But mine is suspect it was damaged quite prematurely because of my belt tensioner. Zordaq replaced mine with stronger CFE's tensioner for better durability, as persona one lost their tensile strength quite fast comparing to tensioner of other car.

But this is just my speculation la..

On the rattling sound probably you can check if you want to fix weather membrane in future. Totally no idea which part of the mechanism caused that...

I use 2 litre. Then top up needs about 1.5 bottle 1.5 litre distill water from AEON. Put lesser also can, just make sure you use distilled water. Reserve tank there can put distilled water.

Never, ever use tap water.
