Meter combination without ABS is out of production.

Looking again at the used part, my meter looks miles better...

or maybe I should just ignore this minor inconvenience

Perhaps it's time for you to get those gReddy temperature dials.

not a fan of that. the temperature probably not accurate too since placement is at the hose.

thinking of OBD meter, but nothing works for old proton car.

or maybe get bluetooth OBD scanner and cheap phone, make the phone as a dedicated meter. hmm.gif or maybe use to check temperature when needed.

Today i learned there's a different in sensor position in our car. But somehow if you willing to take the trouble, would it be possible to install sensor next to the original ECU temperature sensor via an extension adapter?

I'm suite sure there'll be some aftermarket dials that can discreetly fit into our dashboard.

By the way that Akira OBD looks quite nice. Should be able to work with any OBD2 system.

Ohhh means it's OBD2 only. You need OBD1 meter then. Or consider part transplant from another new meter.

2 weeks of Brembo semi-metallic pads. Looks horrible. Thinking going back to Proton OEM. I didn't wash the car for months when using Proton/Mintye brake pad, it never looked as horrible as this.

it's uses OBDII port but different protocol or something. don't know why car manufacturer can't agree on one protocol make life easier. 2010 proton car probably can use. old proton a bit more headache.

Oppssorry on the vrake pad recommendation. I never bothered because I'm on steel rims.

Persona 16 bit ECU will have trouble working with OBD2 devices. Persona elegance's 32 bit ECU got no problem though.

looking at the cheap OBD scanners available on shopee, seems like for old proton need to use the bluetooth dongle paired with android. no iOS option. i think i'm gonna give up on this idea.

Torque app is available on iTunes store. But you need to know those generic Bluetooth dongle is hit or miss due to quality issue. I have a OBDLINX here and it works good on my Persona Elegance. Anyone here in JB with your generation of persona can reply here to test if you feeling helpful.

Noted with thanks.

Yup i saw some are black color cable too.
SC ori no stock need to wait for few month. Price was RM400+ rclxub.gif
I saw outside 100+ box is Proton, but Ori or not who knows.

Feedback from buyers all say ok after install.

However before left the SC , the foremen success to clear the light , however he ask me to change it coz the problem might come back.
And I found out city drive since that day until now was 12L+/100km

I recall last time was around 9L to 10L /100km

Can try after market one. But installing it requires special socket with gap to allows wire pass through.

ECU will run rich when no input from lamda sensor. You'll feel more powahhh.

Simple brake pad change job, then found out that the left drive shaft had a case of diarrhea. fml. and if look at the stabilizer link, the boot has degraded badly. so lesson here, don't use cheap part. my mistake to put my trust on some unknown dodgy workshop.

should repair the boot and regrease or just change the whole thing? 2 years old brand gaido.

look what it did to the wheels.

On other hand, I changed the brake pad from Brembo to AFI Ceramate ceramic pad. First impression is, wow, no brake noise at all. Found AFI brake just opened their shopee mall in this month, got the brake pad for RM70.

I changed boot since the shop okay with it. It takes more time though. If rushing I'd opt for change entire drive shaft.

Do let us know the long term review of your brake pads.

last time repair, i was charged RM80 but the drive shaft was beyond saving at that point. end up replace it anyway. new part is RM200, labor probably RM30 or 50. hmm.gif

i ordered new part on shopee already. this time buy Lucas brand. The workshop I frequent rarely do a one day job.

really bad luck la one thing after another decided to went bad. looking at the tie rod end, also starting to see cracks on the rubber boot.

but on the bright side, the temperature gauge on the meter suddenly works properly now. that's one thing off the list. flex.gif

i'm going to take the car for a night drive later to test the brakes..

So, because the front end need to be disassembled I decided to change few parts as well.

New rack end, tie rod end, stabilizer link 555 Japan brand, total buy from shopee RM220. New rubber boots for drive shafts both sides, grease, labor and whatnot, RM500.

Alignment RM100 - rear camber bolt decided to do funny thing as well, so need new bolt and redo.

Total is.. RM820. I got a thumbs up from workshop for my effort maintaining the car and keeping their business afloat.

Actually I ordered new drive shafts from shopee since friday, but two time got problem and have to cancel. So I take that as a sign that maybe fate telling me to repair instead of replace the drive shafts.

I replaced tie rod end, rack end and stabilizer link as well. Those job adds to the total 500. The rack end and tie rod end that comes with steering rack I bought back in 2020 was crap, better replace it with quality parts.

Also, this week I found out that J&T stopped doing deliveries on weekend. And you cannot self pickup because the delivery hub is closed. ranting.gif So, better plan your next shopee purchase wisely.
