Guys, please avoid withdrawal at RHB. I tried to withdraw 3k but machine limit is only 2k so I decide to cancel the transaction. The machine straight ate my card. Called RHB CS and they straight told me to contact my card issuer to cancel and request replacement card. They won’t return back the card to me anymore even if I go to the branch.
*
RHB again...

They really love eating cards don't they?

QUOTE(BigPayJonathan @ Jun 17 2019, 06:33 PM)
Sooo... essentially an e-wallet is a cloud based storage of value. Which is essentially what we do. The main difference is that we give our users a physical card to allow them to spend where there are payment terminals. I like to think of us as a financial institution that challenges the way traditional banking is usually done. You can refer to us as an e-wallet to us if you like. Or a money app. But don't forget to mention our awesome card wink.gif Our positioning is also very different - but more on that hereunder.
It's a conversation I've been having quite a lot recently.

The thing is... cashback and rewards are not free. One way or another, people are paying for it - even if you might not see it directly smile.gif The other players providing cashback and rewards are not printing free money for anyone. If you ask me (and a lot of analysts): it's an unsustainable business model and you will slowly see other players getting out of it. Banks were/are able to do it because they charge a shit ton of fees on a lot of ridiculous things. Other e-wallets bleed money to attract users and/or have another sustainable business to mitigate that.

BigPay allows users to save money by providing them real insights on how they're spending their money as well as being super transparent on fees. Over time, I firmly believe you can save way more by not paying fees and become more financially savvy than by just hunting cashback. Our priority is to make our users healthy, not to blindly incentivize spending.

I've been using BigPay as my only payment card for the last 3 months and I have learnt a great deal on how I spend thanks to the new analytics. I honestly think this has already saved me more in the last 4 weeks than any cashback reward could have ever given me back! But that's just me smile.gif A lot of people get our app because of how much money they can save on current exchange (our main hook for now) but keep using it for all the seemingly smaller day-to-day features we provide: split bills, instant money transfers, analytics, card freeze, and so on and so forth.

As we keep adding on more features and providing good insights, people will see the long-term value of BigPay. And hopefully other financial institutions will follow suit, as it'll raise the standard for everyone in Malaysia! Building our vision takes time and we know it's not necessarily in line with the instant gratification that other players might offer. But it's a choice...

I hope that answers your message!

Hi, does BP have plans on launching Visa and Unionpay cards in the future? So people can choose which cards that they wanna use upon registering for BP or renew their BP cards?

This might sound like a weird question, but I wanna ask because BP will probably be having an upcoming tough competitor soon which is GoPayz by U Mobile, they will be providing Visa, Mastercard and Unionpay cards for people to choose, and their withdrawal fee will also be RM 1 for local and RM 10 for overseas...

Do you guys have any plans on counter attacking it?

Thanks.

Umobile have a new product with similiar function GoPayz which come with physical card not only Master even UnionPay. Added  it got ewallet(bigpay still dont have it) function as well.

Boost provide e-wallet with rebate, amount is getting lower but Malaysian like cashback.

I wouldn't mind having Unionpay as prepaid card, since I already have other cards which uses Visa and Mastercard.

I just don't get why Unionpay isn't a thing here, it's too underrated, only PBB has Unionpay as debit card and BOC and ICBC use Unionpay as credit cards.

cc will be opened up later.

for now, online banking + 7-eleven + MOL

each physical card need to request, chargeable rm20 (if not mistaken). by default, it comes with 2 virtual cards/brands (i guess visa and mastercard first, cuz unionpay is later)
*
I thought it comes with Visa, Mastercard and Unionpay by default?

While JCB is later?

QUOTE(wjleong15 @ Jun 19 2019, 10:53 AM)
Is RM16 for physical card
My default card is neither visa or master but unionpay
For those who are interested to start first can open account at https://secure.gopayz.com.my/login

I remember Soyacincau posted on their Twitter which mentioned that JCB will follow later after launching with Visa, Mastercard and Unionpay initially...

But we'll see.

I din see the option
*
Hope they will add it soon...

If they only rely on online banking then it's probably not gonna do much impact to the competition just like what Aeon is doing with their Aeon Plus prepaid.

But they have an advantage by having Visa, Mastercard, Unionpay and JCB as options for people to choose their preferred cards upon registering.

Hence, the RM 1 local withdrawal fee as well.

Don't forget... HAPPY Prepaid MasterCard (virtual card) by DiGi is coming.  smile.gif
*
After the small hype, they have been silent about it so far right?

But I noticed that they added similar thing to Vcash according to their website...

If you scroll down to their second section, you will see "Shop Online Easily" with it's details...

I think they cancelled the plan on launching Happy Prepaid Mastercard but instead merging it with Vcash under Vcash brand.

More competition for prepaid cards, so certain company won't keep saying that they "Challenge Banking". whistling.gif

Hi, how did you get the prompt for physical card?

It's true that by default is Unionpay, but that's all I can see right now. hmm.gif

Sorry for off topic, but there's no GoPayz discussion thread so far...

Some malls do have special offer for Unionpay cardholders though...

Other than that, it's probably just like your typical Visa and Mastercard, but widely accepted in countries like China as well.

And maybe also can access Unionpay Lounge in Pavilion KL? biggrin.gif

Other than that, you'll probably be the unique one of the bunch, because you could be the only one among the people you know using Unionpay.

There's also JCB, which is widely used in countries like Japan...

Heard that it's coming soon for GoPayz as well.

Between Unionpay and JCB, JCB is like a super rare gem in our country. icon_idea.gif

Probably because JCB isn't widely accepted here?

As far as I've seen, I do see Unionpay more than JCB here when it comes to merchant acceptance.

That's like saying people will suspect that I'm a Mainland Chinese if I'm using Unionpay lol, but personally I don't mind, already used to people judging others at first glance. nod.gif

Whether if it's Japanese or Mainland Chinese, the staff is gonna have a huge smile on the face and serve you like VVIP if you buy tons of stuffs lol. brows.gif

Do you have any links that mentioned that JCB will be issued? As for Unionpay cards, unless GoPayz follows BigPay's standard by not charging 1% - 2% on top of transaction then it's better to get a Unionpay Card from Public Bank for only RM 8.

But the virtual card is nice, what they can do is to make an app like Maybank Pay/ CIMB Pay and allow GoPayz user to pay via NFC through smartphones.

Also, they require RM 10 to be deposited permanently to use the cards.

But I thought it's RM 30 for initial top up and RM 16 for the card?

I think we need to bring out this Go Payz topic from this thread. Since it is an e-wallet (right?), then can open at e-wallet section.

But it's main focus is being a prepaid card service right?

Being an e wallet is like a secondary thing? hmm.gif

I know what fruitie meant, and she's a 'she' btw.

Just wanna make it easy for those who are interested in opening up a thread for GoPayz, in case the TS of that thread is deciding to whether open it in the e wallet section or in here just like Bigpay...

QUOTE(wjleong15 @ Jun 19 2019, 05:18 PM)
Just to see what is this
When see no cc, dc topup, sien diao
wechat pay use dc topup and free withdrawal, but gopayz use ebanking topup charge me withdrawal RM 1 consider not good for me
cannot enjoy topup benefit
I am not developer, I just saw their link in source code (https://gopayz.hexainitiative.com/), from there go to signup
Did not see any advantages
Minimum topup every time is RM 30
*
RinggitPlus reported that DC is supported for topup, and it will be FOC along with online banking.

You sure? I mean, when I entered an amount, it showed "initial minimum top up amount is RM 30" though, but if it's permanent, then it's not a good strategy.

I'll probably wait until it's officially launched for public with further information, then only I'll pull the trigger on submitting my IC for it, everything just seems like beta so far.

Btw, I think it's time to pause the GoPayz topic here and wait for a proper discussion thread for it. smile.gif

bp topic was taken over from bigprepaid in here.

the ewallet subforum was created later.

imo, any registered emoney issuer products should be parked in ewallet subforum.

any traditional prepaid cards can be here.
*
Bigpay is also an emoney issuer, right?

So Bigpay should also be moved to e wallet subforum if that's the case.

So does it mean the GoPayz will be selling physical Visa and MasterCard soon and link the card to the wallet or how...

I wanted to give Vcash a try cuz I can use it to pay for my Digi bill, but guess what? They only accept online banking for reload, like it's 2019 already...

Uninstalled it immediately, might as well use Digi app to pay.

Tried it before, it was crap...

The app was just too barebone, only can top up using online banking, couldn't even top up e wallets...

If you want me use it as an Aeon member card, might as well just use the original one instead of this crap.

Not sure about now, but they didn't seem to improve much as of yet.

OT: I'm starting to see Merchanttrade advertising their prepaid card in public places recently...

Looks like there will be some incoming competition between prepaid cards soon, once Razer and GoPayz launch their prepaid cards (if they ever launch it), things are gonna be fun to watch.
