This restaurant is in Melbourne. Not sure if we can report it to CC companies.

yes report report ! they just want cash

Australia central bank allows merchants to charge extra for cc usage....as long as customers are informed up front.....and restricted to not more than what it cost the merchandise to accept payment by card....

All the airlines, including Qantas, charge extra for online booking payments with cards.....

these surcharges started big time about a year plus ago. Funnily the very big or very small establishments do not charge the surcharges. Mostly its restaurants that have the surcharges. And I refused to use my cards in such places. Their laws allow them to charge. Some are fair, where they charge the 1 to 1.5%. Some goes up to 3-4%.

Just got back from MEL. Enjoy your quirky winter blast and the good food/coffee.
*
Some merchants abused this by overcharging surcharges, so actually making money out of this.....so the new guidelines mandate such surcharges CANNOT exceed the cost to merchants....

Actual rate is 2.918
*
The AUD went up last 2 days.....the rba cut rates by 25 basis points yesterday, but the AUD held up, the cut already factored in....

I am getting about 2.916 for spends over the weekend, settling yesterday..... although the original rates were last week's 2.906.....

If that's from cc points conversion, you have wasted your points....

All points collect from bp card. I never convert points from cc

Then you have spent a lot of money through the BP card.... hopefully you have also leverage on cc to top up.....

Mind to explain more on why converting the points to BigPoint is wasting the points?  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif

The whole point of using CC and collecting points is for the premium class travels it can open up for mere mortals.....

Not going to ever pay RM20k for a J class ticket to London, but I can use points (converted into airline miles) to redeem for j ticket with some spare change ( varies depending on the ffp).....

To redeem into a LCC is then of course rather stupid.....with its horrible experience.....just pay cash then.....since it's cheap anyway (by definition).....

what if i call the operator say cant waive,
but the annual fee RM250 already charge in my bill,
and will the bank force me to pay?

because last time i apply a credit card, didnt activate it(regretted apply it),
few weeks later being charged RM25 sst,
i called CS say i dont want the card (since i didnt activate it),
but the CS insist i need to pay the sst eventhough i dont want the card and also havnt activate it.
Does the CS is right?
*
BNM rule is that sst will be charged the month after activation of card, or if not activated, on the 4th month after issuance of card....

Using the card to pay in AUD these few days, I note the initial rate quoted is near the median rate (ie xe rates) but the settlement rate is significantly higher.....

Appears not as competitive as spending in SGD....where the settlement rate is close to initial quote....

Those on holiday and only changing small amount of cash like 1-2k for petty use, the differences in rates will amount only to a most a few tens of MYR.....no need calculate so much....your petrol and parking trying to change at money money changers may be even more.....

The problem with BP cards is that there is no name....so it's difficult for banks that "swallow" up such cards to establish ownership.....

QUOTE(rojakwhacker @ Jun 17 2019, 05:00 PM)
There are extra charge too, i guess.
*
Have used it last month in MRT Singapore.....works well, same charges as for EZ link card....

However, individual transactions are not recorded in the app.....about a week later, SMRT bill BP for the journeys in one single charge in SGD, and converted into MYR.....exchange rate close to XE....

You can download the Simplygo App to keep track of individual journeys.....

Registering for Simplygo is tricky, but once registered, no problems adding foreign cards into the system.... including BP....

Same charge and no extra charge then is good news. rclxms.gif

If individual transactions is not recorded in app (within a week) then does the balance still deducted after payment made? hmm.gif

QUOTE(zenquix @ Jun 17 2019, 07:24 PM)
It is a backend processing thing. The front end (MRT/bus reader) is only capturing ID info (card number etc.). Then a server / database actually tracks the trip.

For Mastercard contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated for up to 5 days or after a total of $15 is spent on transit fares, whichever is earlier.

For Visa contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated daily.

hi would like to ask if anyone has use the BP card for retail transactions overseas? i.e. use the card for payment at local merchants abroad. do we key in the 6 digit PIN when we swipe the card or is it signature-based or..
in short:  how does credit card payment using BP work overseas? I'm aware that the card has to be pre-loaded with money first.. the particular country I'm looking at now is Australia
*
Use like any other cc in Australia ....in fact the majority of times, just wave.....if however, you slot in the card, then key in pin.....Oz done away with signature many years ago....

If not mistaken, they update the total outstanding base on the last day of the month. For example, your outstanding balance RM1m at 31 May. CCRIS will show 1m. If you payoff all outstanding, will show 0.
Then can request to increase again? Or need go through again the payslip process?
*
Once reduced, they will want evidences to support any increase again....hence the cs usually advice not to reduce unless you want it permanent....

not critical issue as long as all transactions still recording correctly, just open the app and check since it's not that hard.
not only limited to MRT, but all transit (bus), as well as kiosk that accept EZ-Link too. the only drawback is u won't know the fare for each trip when u tap to exit as it will only display Bank Card Usage on the screen.
*
This was discussed last week, search back....

Download the Simplygo App, link your cc or ezylink cards and all journeys will be captured....

CCs will get billed every few days I'm one lump sum plus 50cents charge....

A single Admin fee of SGD 0.50 for whole trip/statement or SGD 0.50 for every transaction ?
*
Every time SMRT charge your CC.....which is once in 2-3 days for Visa, or weekly for MC....
