Just to report, bigpay finally reverted the error withdrawal $3006 after 73 days.

I like the whole idea of the card, unfortunately, some serious issue comes with it.

In my case, I got charged twice from Bigpay and they promise to refund in 7 days. After 7 days, they asked me to fill a form and the refund now is in 60 days.

It is actually the other way around. I was in Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Berlin for 17 days recently and I had no issue using credit card or debit card in most places in Prague even at a very small shop. At the main train station in Prague, Praha hlavní nádraží, you need to pay to use the toilet in the station and you can pay for the entry fee using credit card too.

When it comes to credit card acceptance rate, Prague definitely has the highest acceptance rate follows by Vienna, Budapest and the worst is Berlin. There are many small shops in Berlin that still don’t accept credit card. Went in to a few bakery shops and small convenience store, none accepted credit card. I had no such issue in Prague, Vienna and Budapest. The ice-cream joint of Café de l'Europe in Stephansplatz is strictly cash only too. They do however accept credit card if you opt to dine-in.

During my 17 days in all 4 EU cities, I had used only 11 € cash.

As for getting Czech Koruna or Hungarian Forint, the best way is to bring Euro and change to local currency when you’re in the city. Unless you are going to buy from street vendors, it is unlikely you will need any local currency at all.

And do avoid buying foods from street stalls in Prague and Budapest. The foods are severely overpriced. You don’t see any locals buying foods from there. You can get proper Hungarian foods in a proper Hungarian restaurant for 30% - 50% cheaper. No joke !

You are spot on. This is actually the very reason why you can use credit card almost anywhere in Korea. The initial reason was actually to counter money laundering and tax evasion. In Italy, almost every Italians joke that many shops don’t accept credit card is because they want to evade tax. Whilst in the UK, even street vendors accept credit card. It is just many of those Chinese family owned restaurants and bakery shops refuse to accept credit card until now. But it’s just a matter of time...

I recently just came back from Germany and I am able to withdraw 600 euro at there.

Glad to know about this as I was told Unicredit Austria, Sberbank Austria and Commerzbank Austria can only dispense 300 € in a single transaction.

May I know in which bank did you withdraw the money from ? As I really came across too many shops in Berlin that don’t take credit card. I’ll be going back to Germany again later this year but different cities. This information would come in handy just in case I do need to withdraw Euro from ATM later this year.

Q.3 How would I be billed for transit payments using contactless bank card?

The transactions will be processed, accumulated and charged to your contactless bank cards with the merchant descriptor name “BUS/MRT”.

For Mastercard contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated for up to 5 days or after a total of $15 is spent on transit fares, whichever is earlier.

For Visa contactless bank cards, fare charges will be accumulated daily.

The accumulated amount will be posted to your respective banks after 3 days. Postings will be reflected in your credit, debit or pre-paid card account based on the processing time of your Issuing Bank.
Bigpay falls under Mastercard, so all the trips you have taken in the 5 days will be accumulated (or if you spend $15) and appear in a single transaction with the admin fee of $0.50 charged just once. For eg., if you take 10 trips in 5 days with a total amount of $10. The final transaction that will appear will be $10.50, inclusive of the admin fee (btw, the admin fee is mentioned in Q.10 in the FAQ link provided above).

If you want to know exactly how much you are being charged for that particular trip, you can download the Simplygo app and link it to your Bigpay card, as mentioned by another forumer. You will receive a notification on your phone on the fares that is being charged once you tap out.

I know forex relatively well. I do trade. But with BP, I can’t lock in the rate at a particular time. I’m not saying that BP doesn’t have good rates, it’s does. But I’m trying to say not 100% of the time BP will be the best solution.

That’s why if BP can hold foreign currency (like YouTrip), then it’ll be so much greater travel card especially with their great rates.

I withdrew VND at local ATMs at Noi Bai Airport (HAN) after exiting immigration and baggage reclaim.

Couldn't withdraw from MSB (Maritime Bank) ATM after trying all withdraw options.

Could withdraw from Vietinbank ATM using "default account" option.
The forex rate was 5,296, and I was charged a VND 55,000 ATM fee (RM9.90).

Both ATMs have the Mastercard logo on them.

Just recently in penang, public bank macallum can withdraw 3k (RM100 x 30). My bro did it on 13th (Sunday) this mth.

Just an info from my friend's atm withdrawal in Seoul
KEB - unable to read card (despite displaying mc gateway)
KB - 3500 krw atm charge + RM10

Came back from Japan and used BP if it accepts CC. Japan is not a CC friendly country but surely has improved since the last time I went 4 years ago. Cash is still needed, so prepare some notes with you.

Also, everything is still signature (either physical copies or electronic signature on tablets) and no PIN needed. So don't talk about contactless, I saw the feature is available but cashiers will automatically slot in to the terminals..

I withdrew once at Seven ATM and as shared earlier only RM 10 overseas withdrawal fees.

Withdrew 2500 TL from Ziraat Bankasi Turkey Istanbul Airport ATM, no withdrawal fee is charged other than the RM10 BP charge.

Some ATMs do charge NTD100 & some don't. Bigpay will charge you RM10 until further notice. So if you are charged both side, most likely the exchange rate is not as good as local money changer.

I have done withdrawing on 1st dec at LYP HLB, 4k no problemo~ (Ground Floor), then straight go 4th floor MBB CDM dump in Moola~ no need run here and there hahaha!!!

Thing doesn't go as the way u did. withdraw small amount is not the way when BP charge RM10 fixed rate per withdrawal no matter is RM500 or RM5000.

Usually this is how we do for decent BP user.

1. Bring little bit of local currency for emergency use or temporary use if you dont have ATM nearby / time allowed to withdraw once u landed.

2. Go to ATM(do research to find the zero admin fee before you go on trip) withdraw the maximum cash available(of course depend on your spending pattern)
for example if u are going to taiwan, ATM at airport charge zero admin fee and withdraw up to TWD20,000 with only RM10 BP charge. Just hit it to the max.

3. research for some ATM that have zero bank admin charge outside (for example 7-11/ bank) near your travel location and prepare for another withdrawal.

4. At last only withdraw the balance of what u need to complete the trip and reach airport safely with sufficient fund for transportation. (of course it's not worth as RM10 fix charges)
i missed my 3 and 4. So while i was in taiwan, i still lack of TWD1000 for taxi to airport. I didnt do research on zero bank charges nearby me so i just simply withdraw another TWD2000 with TWD100 and RM10 BP charges... *ouch*
