i for 1 wouldnt care much abt winning n losing, n i sure the players were not take this as a 'competitive' game too. even we dish out a trashing to u guys it wouldnt change the standings, while we cant afford to drop points in the coming league game.

this match is good to let us see what Antunes can do. i seriously hope he will be given more chances from now on.

Spalletti: We should've won

Luciano Spalletti believes Roma deserved to beat Manchester United and praised his new faces.

"I think we deserved to win, especially in the second half. Considering the overall play and number of chances, Roma did enough for the victory," said the Coach after the 1-1 draw.

"Both teams were a little rusty in the first period and we both had scoring opportunities, but they are a more physical side and made the most of the set play.

"After the break I tried to fire up the players, who were a little anxious at the atmosphere and making their debuts.

"You could see then that there were players who had character and could entertain the fans, as the pressure of getting a result was not weighing on their shoulders."

Both sides were already qualified for the next phase of the competition and fielded reshuffled squads.

Amantino Mancini was jeered by some of the Giallorossi fans, but he scored the goal that prevented Manchester United winning all six group games.

"I have great faith in Amantino, probably more than most considering the number of big games I have started him in. He played a good game and was unlucky in the first half, but could have tried to take on defenders one-on-one a little more.

"Antunes probably felt the anxiety less than others, but he didn't show all the extraordinary quality he has in that right foot."

Spalletti also revealed a bet he had with colleague Sir Alex Ferguson.

"As soon as Ferguson finishes the interviews, we will meet to exchange a bottle of Chianti I promised him."

Roma go through in second place behind United and therefore will meet one of the top teams in the second phase.

"It is always difficult at this level, so I will accept whatever the draw gives us. I am convinced my squad, as has happened in qualifying, will know what to do."

Unfortunately there was tension outside the Stadio Olimpico before kick-off. There were six stabbings, five of which were United fans, and none of the injuries are serious.

ya we are oledi qualified b4 this match, thats why we fielded backup players like Barusso.

well he impress enough for me, considering thats his 1st ever match for us. n he's still young.

he oledi got a senior cap b4 that, so surely he got something.


bcoz its a match that result doesn't matter anyway, so Spalletti tried out some backup players.
