now i would love to sell Ferrari n Mancini, n use the fund to get a top class striker who can finish all those chances than we never failed to create.

Spalletti seeks United revenge
Wednesday 12 December, 2007

Luciano Spalletti has revealed that his Roma side are on a revenge mission when they host Manchester United this evening.

The Giallorossi have already secured a spot in the last 16 of the Champions League and cannot overhaul United to win Group F.

However, the Eternal City side haven't forgotten last season's 7-1 humiliation at Old Trafford and are looking for vengeance.

"To meet a club as important and prestigious as Manchester United is a source of motivation in itself," Spalletti stressed.

"But we want to do well and win this game to cancel out the 7-1 defeat that is still in the heads of our players and our fans.

"I expect my players to read the game and to display the maturity that they have shown in recent weeks. We want to prove that we are a better side."

Although Sir Alex Ferguson has opted to rest Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs for the trip to the Stadio Olimpico, Spalletti has great respect for the opposition.

"If you look at the United team, there are no weaknesses," the Tuscan tactician claimed. "Despite their absent players, they are such a strong team - it makes no difference."

Spalletti identified one danger man in the Red Devils' team who he believes will be a key figure.

"Wayne Rooney is a complete player," he stated. "He is not only deadly inside the area, but he plays a part in all areas of the pitch. He is one of the strongest players of his type."

Roma will be without defender Marco Cassetti, who is suspended, but French stopper Philippe Mexes is ready to return from a knee problem.

Simone Perrotta and Alberto Aquilani remain sidelined.

Roma (probable): Doni; Cicinho, Ferrari, Mexes, Tonetto; Barusso, Pizarro, Esposito, Taddei, Giuly; Totti

Manchester United (probable): Kuszczak; Simpson, Pique, Brown, O'Shea; Eagles, Fletcher, Carrick, Nani; Rooney, Saha

Luciano Spalletti has made sweeping changes to his usual starting XI, maintaining only regulars Alexander Doni, Philippe Mexes, David Pizarro, Mancini and Totti, while this will give Rodrigo Taddei and Mauro Esposito the opportunity to improve their match fitness after long-term injuries.

HT, losing by 1 goal. poor set piece defending.

the boys should hav really done better. Barusso looks like Sissoko for me. doh.gif

good thing is that Antunes seems to hav great potentials.

Roma 1 - 1 MU

well a fair enough result to me. kinda a boring match knowing that nothing at stake.

some facts from the game :

- Totti is still far from full match fitness.
- Mancini's 'mood' seem to get better lately.
- Spalletti is pissed, i guess coz of our set-piece defending.
- Antunes got a lot of potentials. we might juz uncover a gem. oh n he's short, too.
- Esposito is crap. no wonder Spalletti never starts him.
- Vucinic need to continue his finishing lessons. oh well at least he improved now by hitting the post instead of sending it wide. doh.gif
- Barusso is FUNNY. seriously. biggrin.gif
