Yup... anything can happen... so far engine-wise(can't say the same for the turbo civic), they have a good track record... internal panelling and garnishes, not so...

Grand Livina isn't too bad... it sold quite a number of units of those 10yrs... can't go wrong unless you're particular about it's engine and 4AT and lack of creature comforts(etc... leather chairs). The Grand Livina is due for a new model soon and I suggest those looking that way, wait for it next year. Else... BR-V!!!  devil.gif
*
I booked BR-V and will get the car early next week. Test drive it last month but only short distance cannot judge everything.

I am currently driving an 8 years old Grand Livina 1.6A, fabric seat but the cushion is thick and comfortable, heard that BR-V cushion is not so thick..

I agree that GL is very old model, thinking it will be discontinued very soon, that's why I am looking for other brands.

QUOTE(jacksonwwl @ Aug 13 2018, 03:32 PM)
year of car release also a point to take note
as newer car.. tech higher also

livina not in my list at all LoL..
aquila gv a good point.. 4AT i will jz avoid it..
as during highspeed long run... the noise + petrol burn rate i dun like... haha
*
GL is not so noisy, FE is around 13km/L for 25% city drive + 75% highway
Is BR-V noisy?

QUOTE(jojo_g2 @ Aug 13 2018, 04:08 PM)
2nd that. 4AT is just very jurassic park already. When you're running 110 - 120km/h, do you want your RPM at 2k+ or 3k+? haha... easily settled.
*
FYI, it will be 2.7k RPM for 110km/h for GL, what is BR-V RPM at 110km/h?

highway more than 130kmh will be very noisy
less than that shld be ard 60db

FE almost similar..but save more around 1km/l..
i drive 120-140 for highwy + 100km city drive.. is 13.3km/l

at 110km/h... i din really go see the rpm..
is shld be be 2k+ a bit...
as cvt 1.. the rpm is modified (as per ppl said) hahhh

I can't recall how the Grand Livina seat felt nor remember the thickness the last time I test drove it. I think the BR-V seats especially the middle row isn't as puffy as the GL is maybe due to the tumble forward design to be more compact. As for the front, feel like quasi-bucket seat...

Can't recall the rpm range... I think, I think it's abt 2-2.5k 110km/h... I need to test it again... I'm lead footed so I hardly observe...

I am in the same boat but need to make decision ASAP cos my current car insurance due first week of Sept.  Am looking at paying about RM800-900 per month.

I really like the BRV look but I don't need the 7 seater.  Even if I keep the last row seat folded permanently it doesn't fold flat which is a problem since I a bit OCD  sweat.gif

Was initially going for Livina X-gear which has a big promo currently because clearing stock.  Apparently, Nissan going to discontinue the X-gear which worries me.  What if spare parts not available since is a discontinued model?  SA told me X-gear uses same engine as Grand Livina so spare parts not a problem.  But I still worried.  blink.gif

So yesterday night my brain exercise very hard and decided to just go get a Vios this week.  Hopefully can get by first week of Sept. Wish me luck!

Really depends on your needs.i had the same dillema as yours.i could have gone sedan or even the Nissan Serena hybrid.but end up brv due to the fact i needed the 7 seater space maybe few times a year only.so to me brv was a good balance between space usage, price and quality.i can tell you my former Toyota vios had the engine block changed completely before.again really depends on your needs.
*
So you go for brv? High end variant?

if you need 7 seater for adults then brv will let you down..
since you can afford Nissan Serena ...you should go for it ...space much much comfortable compare brv ..

It's in your engine bay... near the battery. I've just googled ECM and it's another name for ECU.

Errr I don't actually have a real reason to exclude the city but then the city was never a consideration for me. I honestly don't have a concrete reason. Either there are too many city on the road or something else is bothering me.

What I really wanted was what they called a crossover vehicle which the x-gear and brv is but it was not meant to be. I also really like the HRV but out of my league bye.gif

Cannot agree more, bro Wayne, similar to my situation, just need 7 seaters few times in a year, plus driving big fish (Serena or Carnival) is very difficult in KL city, turning in tight corner, parking also an issues, if my home town in johor or ipoh, I don't mind getting big fish, because long distance travel, big fish is more suitable.

Bro Aquila, I prefer Mitsubishi Xpander rather than rebadged by Nissan, as for the new Toyota Rush looks nice, anyway both cars are much taller than BRV, so high speed cornering, I am doubt they better then BRV, but still too soon to say as I didn't test drive both cars yet. Hahaha....
