They only mention about the trilogy.

Blizzard's Rob Pardo reveals sci-fi RTS will now be three separate products; Terran campaign Wings of Liberty will arrive first.

ANAHEIM, California--For many, this morning's keynote address from Blizzard president Mike Morhaime was a bit anticlimactic. After revealing Starcraft II, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and Diablo III at three consecutive events, Blizzard had nothing new to report on a new game from the company. That changed during the Starcraft II panel, as Blizzard's Rob Pardo revealed that rather than a single real-time strategy game, Starcraft II will now be released as a trilogy.

After bemoaning the fact that Starcraft II was shaping up to be an undertaking far larger than the previous game, Pardo said the first game in the series--subtitled Wings of Liberty--will focus on the Terrans. Specifically, it will seek to resolve the conflict between Jim Raynor and Kerrigan, which was the crux of the original Starcraft. The second game, Heart of the Swarm, will focus on the Zerg, while the final game, Legacy of the Void, will be devoted to the Protoss.

Pardo noted that each release will be a fully fledged campaign, featuring 26 to 30 missions apiece. The celebrity World of Warcraft designer also noted that while the ending of each game will be set, the middle of the game will play heavily to player choice, allowing for branching storylines. Pardo also said that the second two releases could be considered expansion packs, but that "we really want them to feel like stand-alone products."

Shiet man ... doh.gif

Biggest pile of bullshit I've read this century. Blizzard going episodic? God dammit. Forget about the single player! Just bring it on the multiplayer lar.

So the first SC2 faction is for Terran campaign Wings of Liberty. So we only see Terran in the 1st product? Only multiplayer is Terran fighting itself?

All races are available for multiplayer. The expansions packs will or should i say might add new units for the races. All races are unlocked for multiplayer.

Oh boy i think i found where this rumour comes from:

BlizzCon 08: New Battle.Net Will Have Fees

A new version of the multiplayer browser Battle.Net will debut with Starcraft II. How will it be superior to the previous version? Well, it'll be able to hit you up for money.

During a BlizzCon 08 panel discussion, Diablo 3 director Jay Wilson said, "We are looking to monetize Battle.Net so that we get to keep making these games and updating features. We kind of have to.” Blizzard wants to avoid putting in a subscription but yes, some as-yet-unknown features will cost money.

Apparently Activision really likes the word "monetize". They've been using it a lot lately, first with Guitar Hero: World Tour, then with Call of Duty: World At War, and now Battle.Net. Guess they've settled on a strategy for their top franchises from here on out.

Quite possible the paid content for Battle.Net is something superfluous, like custom avatars for the browser. If they tried to sell special items or some such, an angry mob with pitchforks would gather. It's also possible Wilson was talking about additional episodes for the game. Whatever it is, be sure to keep your wallet handy.
I think it is important to realise that by monetising it they dont mean subscription(or at least thats the hope). It could mean some sort of micro transaction for really small things that are not core of battle.net.

It's only 3 campaigns.3 long non linear campaign that have 26-30 missions each. That means you got 3 WC3 campaigns to play.

Isnt that bad for the price you play,IMO.

Just the paying battlenet is bothering me.

Still,if you want a good meaningful campaign,i think this is better.Blizzard have time to make kickass campaigns.

Unless you want those crappy campaigns that we get in today's RTS.
