for those who haven't got their complete Dawn of War Collection:
Dawn of War Platinum Press Release

Dawn of War Platinum on EB Games

the Dawn of War Platinum will have all 3 games plus demos of Company of Heroes, Titan Quest, Supreme Commander and the upcoming Frontlines: Fuel of War

i still have the anthology, but it doesn't have the game demos.
*
so the difference between the anthology and platinum is just an extra dvd in platinum that contain some demos and playbacks right?
anyway, u got pm.

guys what do you say if we have our very own DOW league.. i been thinking bout it and its also a good way to get more new players to start playing the game and it might intice old players to come back to the game as well..

been talking with lord inquisitor kong bout it and he fully supports the idea

so basically it will be a DOW league played online..and since its online it wont be limited to people around kl or klang valley..this could be a regional thing..
as too the timing of play i have thought out a mechanics that we have it like a weekly stages.. for example.. week 1 i'll annouce who will fight with who and thru out the whole week the players has to have a mutual agreement on when to have the match and announce it on the forum.. this is to avoid walk overs cos not everybody is available all the time..and making a fixed dates can be a bit demanding for some..so if the players has already set the date of play and one of them is a no show.. then the win goes to the other player..
and also to determine the winners for each match the winner of the match will have to post up the replays to avoid sore losers laugh.gif

the league would a standard league where the top 2 or 3 players from the group will proceed to the playoffs where it would be the best out of 3 type of game
and the whole league would be played on gamespy

so basically thats my idea what do you guys think?? and if any of you would want to volunteer in helping me that would be great biggrin.gif
and the most important part that i want to ask.. is it do able

Only I. Possess the knowledge and experience of handling group of marshals (about 7 or 8 lively young fellow) and the organizer for the once acclaimed dota league. I ran a dictatorship throughout the campaign and the only rules that I implied to my team of marshals is that everyone has to call me boss, and only BOSS.

But I lack the time to rebuild those PHP coding and maintaining the website. What I would suggest is that we could mimic ESL style. If our own league do not require a website, things would be a lot more easier.

Let us start small, I am more interested in the details of how a league is run than setting up a website, currently just posting stuff on one of the front threads will do I suppose.

So we go like :-

- Declare league start
- Get players to join
- Start playing and organising <- this is the part where experience comes in
how do u divide the players, set up timeline, choose map etc etc....

while speaking to Darkfyre earlier, i suggested to have the website hosted with www.mas-1.com.

Mas-1 represents many games when it comes to professional gaming and they are ok to let us have access to it. another reason y i recommend Mas-1 is because it gives us more regional exposure, as Mas-1 has and could also attract more players!

Mas-1 can help us with a template, all is need is a person with good organising and scheduling skill to put everything up and update everything.

5oul, it should be easier since u wont have to manage the website and that the website is already there. up for it 5oul?

game mechanics wise is to be discuss.. and if the majority of the people of this comunity agrees we can go ahead and do the necessary planning
and as inquisitor kong said we can get mas-1 to join up the headache of a website wont be a problem

If that would be the case, then setting it up would be pretty simple job. We can just make use what have been praticising by others league like the one in dows & esl. As for the map, is even more straight forward, we'll have a map rotation on every week, ofc, map pool would be the same as those in GS auto 1v1 ladder. We might just add up a few tweak over the rules to make it more local, that's all.

That would be fine. But would MAS-1 allow us to use their site ?? I dont believe in free lunch in the world, if by all means that we will become part of MAS-1 in order for us to use the service, I'm afraid the decision is beyond my responsibility. But I wouldnt object on joining MAS-1 as a division either, who knows we might attract somebody abroad ?? Or I'm just thinking too much, there's actually free lunch in this world tongue.gif ??

I dont mind organizing the first league, but definitely I need a few assistants so that I could pass down the knowledge. So in the future, when I'm not around, somebody could have done the job as well.

game mechanics, not very hard.

scoring: best of 3 games, one win gets 3 points while lose gets 1 point. there's no draw though.

maps: random between the automatch maps.

victory condition: Take and Hold. someone told me Take and Hold is very fun.

tadaaa!

Best of 3 games in a league system ?? Hmm... seriously you people need to know the difference between league and tournament. I would prefer condition to be the same as auto 1v1. And depends on the number of participants, it might be wise to separate the league into a few division like ESL.

well its not the best out of 3 type matches..one group lets say 5 people per group..they play each other and gain points for wining.. top 2 or 3 players of the group advances to the playoffs

it all depends if we can get that many people to seperate into divisions
if so happens we could get alot of people.. we can go with a round robin style
game placing... where you get everybody will fight each other once then acumulate the points to put into ranking..then divide those in to lower brackets and upper brackets..from that divide them into groups..then at the end where the top players from lower brackets and upper will be put into another grouping then after that playoffs..that would only work if there is alot of people joining

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
or you could make one a pro league and a newbies league totally seperate but thats also if you can get enough new players and pro players in

From my experience playing the C&C3 league, it works round-robin way(which every participant will face each and everyone who is in the league), theres a home and away for ladder map choosing(which every home player calls for his map within the ladder map list), with home and away system, you will face your opponent twice.

Thats the rough brief of league system, tweaks and modifications can be done.

From what I experience there(bumps), imo(solutions) matchups need to be tight to keep people interested and some flexibility for people who are not available on certain dates, also if able to, each match must be watch at least by an organiser via observer mode to keep track the winning conditions etc and keep stuff in line.

EDIT: added for clarity.

In the ESGL league ( a european league) during my clan days. We usually have 2 rounds only. If a player win the 2 rounds he get 1 point. Win1 lose 1 then 0.5 points and lose 2 he gets nothing.

Well are we gonna play Clan league or solo league??
