Dear Mr. Chin,

Thank you for your feedback to TM. Our automated feedback system has forwarded to us for our attention and reply. Firstly, we would like to apologise for the late reply.

With regards on query about the line distance, kindly be informed that the distance from the exchange to your house is as below:

Telephone number: 0039274XXXX
Distance: 3.72 km

Therefore, if the line distance is over than 3 km that means the service could not be provided at your area. Distance is an important factor in Streamyx service as it contributes to the quality of the broadband connection, in terms of speed and stable connectivity. The connection running under 4MB at more than 3 km would frequently be disconnected and runs at a very low speed.

We apologise for the inconveniences caused. Your patience and understanding on this matter is highly appreciated.

Should you require further assistance or would like to submit any enquiry/feedback, kindly visit www.tm.net.my and click "Need Help? Contact our Customer Service".

We thank you for taking the time to write to us and look forward to serve you better.

Regards,
Afizatul Azua Mohd Yusof

same thing in the uk where i was studying...
had a 20mbps line but was inconsistent.

prefer adsl anytime
so want to compare compare aussie... adsl2+ 20mbps
but they limit u to 20 gig download per month...

u have to understand that the 1Mbps is megabits so in reality it is actually very slow..however most of the time i dun think that they cap it since most of the time my BT reaches uses most of my bandwidth..(the stupid blink of an eye thing is fake though unless u song is 100kB)

as for them being the only ISP in this country..is only so that they can monopolise the damn business all to themselves...nasioncom aso fight wif them...wat esle mobile telcos...

most probably the 4Mbps is using optical cables....but it seems that it is still testing in some areas...though the speeds should be the same
and if expect them to replace all copper cables, we would have to wait for like years..(unless cable theives come into the picture and they dun steal optical cables)
overseas is different from here since they have competition and they have more cables connection to other countries..

Not upgrading to 4Mbps due to retards in their crew. They still can't even handle 1Mbps users. Been lagging almost everyday.

Well jayfoo seems to be happy with his 4 mbs.

From what i've gathered so far.

4mb streamyx

1. this is one a different dslam than the one for 1 mb and 512k streamyx. It's on the new e-metro doh.gif

2. 4mb is not throttled *yet

3. the speed is the promised 4mb doh.gif * i saw this other thread where the subsriber was given 5 mb so he could reach his promised 4 mb doh.gif ( heck they wouldn't even let me subscribe because they complain i was just 1 km away from their 3 km limit :[ )

What isn't so clear yet is how good is gaming latency ? any screenshots or figures anyone ? Also how is surfing/downloading from international sources ( namely the us ) like ?

There is no point bashing 4mb since it's different from their other offerings doh.gif would be better to know the truth for those of us who want to opt out of their crappy 1mbps :[

cons:

1. over priced ( everybody knows this )

2. never know whether they will throttle in the future doh.gif remember you have signed a 1 year contract with them.... and don't forget the setup cost, your tied with them for at least a year shocking.gif

They think we don't know that they channel their bandwidth to their more expensive services instead of giving everyone equal bandwidth eh. It's not hard to figure that out. This is getting really old.
