Is the CVT as problematic as many say? Any symptoms for a problematic CVT?
*
Depends. If previous owner do aggressive drive all times, then when u purchase the belts on the way to worn out condition? Best to purchase one with generally low mileage, with proof at SC for mileage of the car last service etc.

My car back then purchased used unit, then straight send Workshop for oil, cvt oil change with adaptation process, and 4 new rubbers.

Looking to buy used iriz. I am keen on manual transmission thinking it might be less problematic. But been reading in iriz group and i learn that iriz manual clutch pump is inside the gearbox and common issue for the pump to breakdown? is this true and which is more reliable for iriz, the manual or cvt?

I think the CVT is alright...as long as you adapt to it, which can be a challenge to many...

If you keep tekan right after release brake like you would in an auto, or change P-R-N-D without coming to a complete stop, then confirm GG prematurely...

Since the day one I used Iriz 2016 (bought on Jan 2017)

Today is the bad news because one of my wiper being stole ( Still using stock wiper Iriz)

Any suggestion

i. wiper brand
ii. shop

shop in selayang/sentul to replace this wiper?

Is it just change for this one wiper or is it i need to change whole set for front and back if i dun wan to use stock wiper

Please share ur experience
*
Sorry, for some reason, i didnt get notified.

Just buy whatever silicon wipers you can get your hands on, around Rm30-50 per set (L+R).
I usually buy from shopee, same for the rear.
Dont bother spending a tonne on wipers because ive been there and the so called lifetime guarantee and wiper performance is shit for Rm500, keep the money, change every year or year plus when the need arises.

Rubber wipers if you prefer silent wipes but wont last as long
Silicon if you want them to last longer but can be noisier when dry

Also no need for shop to install la, just plug and play je.

oil no overfill, my fuel filter not changed also
oxygen senser nees special tool, haaiiihh..
where to look out for? or what to do?
*
If brake caliper is stuck, youll feel one rim is hotter than the other or car might sway to a particular direction now and then.

Planning to buy Iriz for wife to use in town. For the newest version, Can the HU put AA/CP? Can put 360 camera?

I think the executive version is enough, and noticed the LED lights are plug and play with halogen ones anyone tried this?

Wife doesn't need a big car, since want to drive back after 10 years. Is this an easy car to handle? Also doubt the mileage will be high since only she is using it while I am outstation. If not we commute to work together in my car. Should I just buy a used model?
*
My advise to you is to skip the LED bulbs because reflector headlights arent and werent designed to be used with LEDs, they will silau and attract unwanted attention from the authorities. If you need, buy brighter halogens like Osram nightbreaker series (but their life will be shorter) and / or reduce brightness of car meter and finally check eyes for astigmatism.

About to be Iriz owner here. Did a random visit to a showroom today, felt comfortable with the price and performance, then straight away made a booking. Took the 1.6L mid variant dark grey one and planned to modify the exterior once it arrives. Will be searching the forum and online for stuff like body kit, aero kit, outlines, spoilers, etc.
*
If the car came with spoiler by itself id say keep it as it is. Aero stuff can be tricky so dont go overboard, too much downforce and you start losing out on fuel economy. Keep with stock looking stuff.

Also about mods, careful not to cut into stuff even if they claim as PnP because proton might use it as an excuse to deny your warranty claim(s) if any.

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Jan 1 2025, 12:35 PM)
I'm looking for a used Iris auto gb as a second car. Apart from higher power on 1.6 engine from 1.3, any thing else? Don't need the extra power,as this will be my town run around mainly. More concern over its GB & reliability. Any issues on 2015 - 2018 models.
*
iRiz, Persona family suffers from rusty radiator resulting in overheating (because workshops add tap / mineral water) so inspect, if not too bad can flush coolant and change every 40k kms or 2 years (use premix for peace of mind since no need to mess around with ratio and just use coolant).
Coolant is a vastly overlooked item and if left unchecked for too long will potentially eat into gaskets resulting in an expensive head gasket failure.

Next would be the window motors / regulators leading to failure to roll up the window(s).
Solution: clean window channels, spray silicon lubricant from time to time to ensure smooth operation.

If youre into safety, the Premium came with 6 airbags compared to lower spec iRiz

About the GB, its not your conventional 4AT so youd have to tune your driving slightly, release brake then let it move baru tekan minyak. The newer gen CVT is to me improved and more refined. Some backstory here is that Proton knew of such issues, asked Punch (CVT manufacturer) for help to tune but they didnt bother because well Economics of scale, Proton is a small player. This changed when Geely asked Punch to assist thus the refinement.

With most or all 2nd hand cars, do go in for major service especially if you do not know its service history. Timing belt, water pump (since its next to it je, would save some money to do together), EO, CVT Fluid, CVT filter, oil filter, cabin and engine filter, spark plugs, plug coils (be prepared for them to break if they are old so be on standby and its cheaper to buy online than to go hunting if you discover its broken during change), brake fluid, alignment balancing.

MT owner here who picked one up where the previous owner changed the pump. I think what many people miss out on is brake fluid bleeding / flushing as the fluid is shared with brakes and clutch pump. The bigger one that most miss is doing the same for clutch, did mine and it was dirty.

You can search iRiz restoration on youtube if youd like to see the video.

Might i ask which year iRiz youre considering?

For wiper, I found the Tesco/ Lotus silicone wiper is better than Mr.Diy and cheaper. Just that, the connection for the wiper used for Iriz, X50 and X70 are different than many normal car hence need to buy from shopee

Tqvm for your reply. Valuable info here. I'm looking at 2017 - 2019 models. I am also concerned about flood water affected cars.

Please give me your feedback on non turbo Previe. Is the GB problematic?

That's cool, mind sending me a message?
I'd like to connect with more iRiz MT owners.

For gear shifting, id suggest changing the manual transmission fluid (please only use Protons GL4) avoid GL5 at all costs.

As for the fluids, if they were last changed about 2 years ago please go for another change.

Here's a general guide https://youtu.be/4jb_RQk0b-Y

Ps: don't forget to do clutch bleeding if you intend to bleed your brakes do it at the same time but not many workshops know of this, some owners don't even know and Proton' owner's manual doesn't state anything.

As a previous suggestion croydon, if I want to change to android player for 2016 Iriz and maintain same size with original, I must used TS10 7 Inch

My question is there any competitor or any latest android player that can match TS10 7 inch or TS10 till now is ok?

My next question is this TS10 android player can communicate with existing back camera?

Which shop in KL (Sentul Area) sell and install TS10 android player?

Can fit but you'll need an adapter housing. (It would very slightly block the middle ac vents). They are cheaper than the flimsy and easily broken original housing that's also not cheap.

As for testing you'll need to download fake device test to check.
Common eg: android version >9 but in fact is only 9
Low ram device become higher RAM device.
Proper sellers will not have an issue letting you check.

There are more powerful chips out there so perhaps you can try looking around or doing some research such as on the Facebook group called car android player community Malaysia.
Newer, higher end ones will of course cost more. If you're able to diy you can probably save a about 80-150 bucks.

May I ask what happened to your HU? I'd like to use it if it's still in working condition for my rear sensors to regain functionality je
