Hi. Planning to buy an Iriz used car. I want post 2021 model, the one with the most refinement.

Basically, excuse is say buy for kid to use...but actually Daddy wants one....lol.

Still deciding between this or new Axia/Myvi. Budget wise i will save about RM13k from a new Axia(top spec 6 airbags) and  about RM17k from a Myvi H. Yes, i want 6 airbags, no ifs and buts. So i can roughly get a 2022/23 Iriz for about RM40k.

But the truth is...i don't really need this car....my son don have class everyday to drive to U and can take LRT as well...

So hard to decide.

Also, is there any problems with Iriz i should know and beware of?

I've been to your situation but back in 2018, bought a used 2015 Iriz 1.6 Premium. Why bought, due to price, I paid directly to the owner like 1/3 of price vs brand new Iriz 1.6, and that car is very low mileage (verified with SC, just go to SC and give the plate no for his/her previous service history), in my case 12k km for 3 years old car. Its a reliable car, 1st thing I did was change to fully synthetic oil shell helix ultra, CVT oil change + cvt adaptation at the workshop, and all new tires.
Here the cons I have faced on it, Laggy HU (mine old HU version), nothing much do look at it than a radio, sure an aftermarket HU is better but yet to change. CVT drone is obvious for pre-facelift Iriz so accustomed to it. FC, not great if at city, traffic jem Kajang-KL daily, average mine about 9km/l to 11km/l which even my 2.4 sedan somehow give a better FC.

But as I said, its best bang for money considering the price I paid, and still reliable. Parking wise, it easy on this Iriz.

What is CVT adaptation? Just seen one Iriz 2022, 19k km, 40k including insurance (no NCD) at Carsome. Expensive? This car got a bit problem though, the rear hatch lock keeps making sound like lock and unlock by itself. 😅

Yeah, the thing i don't like most is the lag when going out of junction from standstill. It's better than pre 2021 Iriz (tested those before), but still pales in comparison to the Axia DCVT i drove yesterday in terms of response.

CVT Adaptation not sure if it need to be done every cvt oil change or not but the workshop recommend me do this, foc after cvt oil change, just he use the sort of ECU reader equipment. Mine done at Auto Marques PJ

The CVT is lacked vs D-CVT or other Japanese CVT due to use of clutch based gb while the others use Torque converter based. The idea of it, by using clutch based, it is more efficient for energy losses but for daily use, for sure torque converter based is smother especially the start stop traffic jam. The Geely era Iriz, Persona, they did tuned the gb for smoother feeling but still below the smoothness and direct feeling vs torque converter based at start stop situation.

Try eyeing the car sales at FB sometimes they got direct owners selling their there at more attractive price

Guys, I just gotten my new car from Proton in late January. A few weeks ago, when I tried to ignite my engine as usual (hold brake pedal and press "Start/Stop" button, I do not hold the "Start/Stop" button), the engine kept cranking until i release my brake and the engine was not ignite. It only ignited after second attempt. This problem then go away until today. Today, I experienced the same situation 3 times when I try to ignite my engine. Anybody experience the same problem as me?

Meaning you also experiencing the same thing? The only solution is keep trying? I was thinking to send back to Proton to have them to inspect my car but I was afraid that I cannot replicate the issue at the service centre

yes on my Saga MC2. it happens on and off.. just go SC complain about it only.. this problem is famous enough they will know about it.. but not like they can do anything about it also.. unless your hard to start is very severe type maybe can make case to claim warranty for the starter motor.. but if it happens intermittently the most they will do is check your starter motor and say it is fine but cannot give you an answer why the issue occur..

the hard to start problem plagues a lot of the sagas out there with push start.. need crank 2~3 times only the car can start..

For proton SC, push it max to them, asking to replace the parts under warranty. For my other proton car, usually send to SC at IOI Putrajaya mall cz easy to claim warranty. Claimed auto rear boot part for x70 2 years ago.

If already at high mileage, then if got any abnormal condition, leaking oil, got weird sound, maybe can start look around shopee for price estimation. Option B, send for refurbish/repair for cheaper price

I sent my car to service centre for inspection. They only charged my battery, not even changing it. Then I was told the "correct way" to ignite my engine.
Step 1: press "Start/Stop" button.
Step 2: press "start/Stop" button again so that the speedometer and tachometer move.
Step3: Hold brake pedal and press "Start/Stop" button for the third time.

And guess what, I experience the same problem even with these steps so I never bother to do it again. Really disappointed with Proton. You will think they would have ironed out these problems as the model has been around since 2014 dry.gif

nothing to do with the model..

1st gen iriz and pre-MC iriz start stop never ever had this problem..

and i already told you this issue plaguing most of proton's start stop cars. saga/iriz/persona.. so they all share the same part between them... could be the starter motor ciplak, could be wiring issue.. nobody knows unless you dismantle the whole car and test 1 by 1..

i also told you, will be waste of time.. cause the SC themselves dont know what causes it, so they dont know what the issue is. and so they also dont have a fix for it..

Which SC is that? Usually I sent my car for warranty claim to Puncak Merak Semenyih SC and SC near IOI Putrajaya mall. Both are good for me, claimed few parts under warranty. Most expansive part is the auto rear boot for x70 ckd, they just noted, ok not functioning properly, we claim it under warranty.
