walked in to SC to still find if i can upgrade without change plan.

cannot.

but CS convinced me that without Sports, I don't miss anything with current HD PVR.

well, I'll just keep on sulking during rain.

You want to change to Ultra Box?

QUOTE(deric88 @ Nov 11 2021, 02:21 PM)
I'm on the same boat as you. I canceled my Netflix Premium and went for Platinum. Cost about Rm1.60 extra a month.
You get more channels with Platinum. I chose the Chinese Asian channels.

In my case, the only channels I don't get is the Specialty sports (cricket, WWE, golf, rugby), the 2 indon channel, and the 4 premium Indian channels.
You can get back your news channel. Don't need to choose mini packages any more.

Thanks! Let me read into your post. thumbup.gif

By the way, I'm sharing the Netflix account but I'm the owner, will this cause any disruption to my Netflix account assuming I switch to this package?

For my Netflix, ngam ngam the expiry was on 9 November 2021. So I canceled it right away. Then I reactivated it on 10 November 2021 using the link provided by Astro.
Disruption should be minimal at most, in between the previous plan expiry and you re-activate your account using the Astro link.

I'm not sure if you can stack the Astro subscription on top of any existing subscription in Netflix, to have zero downtime.

Also to add, the difficulty I faced was because their website upgrade path is bugged. Better call their customer service to upgrade. Done within 10 minutes.

I'm not sure if this pricing is correct... hmm.gif

I am currently paying RM 213.06 for my Super Pack 3 (RM 151) + Multiroom (RM 50), SST RM 12.06. Of course, separate Netflix Premium subscription of RM 55.

Finally got fiber in home, so dreams growing bigger.

Spouse complained of "hujan, tak de show", so i want to kill many many birds 1 shot; align and pin down unifi, astro 2yr contract in one go.

Went to SC 2 weeks ago, but cannot upgrade to Ultrabox because not old Sharp HD. So just reorganise into current sub.

I fnally got my TV 4K-ed few days ago, but just nice Astro also froze all changes due to upgrade.

When they unfroze, I immediately try to apply upgrade online after itchy practicing the inteface since last week, but *baaam* into our current situation
*
My house is just using normal Full HD TV (not smart TV), they allow us to change to Ultra Box. Main criteria is just on the Internet connection which they are particular with. Sad for your case.. Just not at the right time.

QUOTE(smileguy @ Nov 11 2021, 06:28 PM)
if u are a current subscriber no RM25 discount which makes yr present pack cheaper and no need another new contract for packages
*
Yeah, that's what I deduce as well. I guess I will stick to my current package + separate Netflix until it comes with a better plan for me, I can live without News not that I will watch. laugh.gif

My family only watch Chinese, sports and movie channels, wondering if I should switch

Btw I've logged in my Netflix account to Ultrabox without asking to switch my package biggrin.gif

Almost the same here, Chinese, Sports and Movies. Niece will watch cartoons once a day, I will stick to what I have now.

Yeah, no issue with logging in our Netflix account, I have done that yesterday. tongue.gif

QUOTE(deric88 @ Nov 11 2021, 07:40 PM)
The pricing looks correct to me. Currently, you are paying RM268.06 nett for Astro and Netflix.
The new Platinum package with multiroom is RM269.67 nett.

Your quoted price already included your multiroom.

About RM1.60 extra like I mentioned earlier.

The amount looks big now because you are roping in the Netflix price.
Not correct. If you sign the new package and contract 24 months, you get the rm25 monthly rebate, which is the quoted price.

With the new packages, you will be automatically re-contracted for another 24 months after your 24 months finish, and get the same rm25 rebate. They will notify you on the 23rd month just in case you want to make any changes and not renew.

Termination fee is RM1000 prorated to 24 months remaining period.
Downgrade fee is RM500 prorated to 24 months remaining period.

The only benefit of staying on the old package right now is the freedom to cancel any time.
In theory, platinum has more value for extra rm1.60 since you get more channels. But you will be tied to a contract.
*
OK, so it is correct ya. Ya, I noticed the RM 25 discount, I'm thinking if I were to add back that RM 25 into the total amount, then it is around RM 24 higher than my current package? Not sure what will happen after 24 months and if no better package, I may need to pay additional RM 24? Is my math making sense? laugh.gif

Of course nobody can predict future and not sure what will happen after 24 months. laugh.gif

Have you compared the channels from new package vs SP3, no channels being taken away right? And add in news channels?

Let's wait for deric88's first bill after package change. tongue.gif

I'm not in urgent and may not switch due to below reasons:
1) We hardly watch News channels at home
2) Cannot cancel Netflix separately
3) Extend another 24 months contract though I just renewed mine in April when changed to Ultra Box. laugh.gif

Here I am scratching my head why even after changing LAN cables, Ultrabox still does not get DHCP address. Switch indicator says it's connected.

Whatsapp "05 - Bantuan Teknikal" is all only about shoving "ultrabox-is-great.pdf". Itu bukanlah menghulurkan bantuan, tapi menghulurkan batu untuk hantuk kepala.

Called in.

Apparently, Ultrabox can operate either using Ethernet or using WiFi, cannot interchange after choosing during initial set up (factory reset).

yes, i bit the bullet.
eventhough i downgraded the other box to basic (in lieu of going all the way to njoi) on 30th oct in accordance to mom's own wish, i followed up and found that mom now misses her korean show.

so have to bite the bullet and upgraded back.

end up from ~RM207 previous bill to ~RM140 in current bill now back to ~RM220 next bill (estimated figure, lazy to factcheck).

It’s ok, little money but with plenty of happiness. Now you can watch shows when it’s raining.

Anyway, this account belongs to my late dad but unfortunately he passed away 2 months ago, I will need to change the ownership to me. I really hope it is not a complicated process, I googled and seems OK. Has anyone changed ownership before? The contract is carried over right?

Condolences. You may refer to this link to know more about the procedure: https://support.astro.com.my/question/what-...pment-ownership

Also, if I'm not mistaken, all your cloud recordings on Astro Go/Ulti/Ultra Box will be cleared/wiped clean upon successful transfer ownership.

Ya, I read about this. I really hope it will not cause us not able to watch shows. sweat.gif

Has anyone changed from personal paid Netflix to be bundled with the Astro package? Is there any downtime?

I'm hesitating to change my existing Super Pack 3 to Platinum. At this moment, I'm paying Netflix separately. Still, it is making my life miserable as I cannot make any changes to it or add another multiroom.

With rumours that Netflix will start clamping down shared accounts, it is really not a good idea to be tied up with 2 years contract for RM 55 per month. laugh.gif

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I'm still considering this option thoroughly. Not sure what Netflix will do in the future.
Can I downgrade to Standard Netflix next time if already bundled with Platinum?

I activated my no. for Astro Hotstar when it was rolled out last year. Then, at the same time, I have UniFi Ultimate Pack, which grants me a free Hotstar account. Last month, I already activated via UniFi, and instead of using my no. to activate for UniFi, I used my sister's no. I got an SMS after that it was successful but without mentioning it is for which no., I assumed it was for my sister's no. which I used for activation.

This morning, I received an SMS from UniFi that it is ready to use under my no. doh.gif

Now my Hotstar shows two sets of accounts (I think?).

Subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar Yearly
Subscription valid till: 31 May 2022

Subscription to Disney+ Hotstar 2 Years
Subscription valid till: 17 May 2024

How does this work now? I'm concerned about the no. of devices that can be connected at the same time...

I believe it is similar rule like Netflix, which is no device login limits.

However, each Disney+ Hotstar account can stream on any 2 concurrent devices at the same time.
*
Exactly. Rightfully, UniFi should be tied to another no. as per my activation last month.
Looks like I will need to change no. linked for Astro Hotstar.

My issue is I should have two different Hotstar accounts and I can watch on 4 devices simultaneously. Now they are all parked under one account. doh.gif

They are channels that Astro does not have license to show on IPTV (which Plug and Play technically is).
Previously, they consists of most of Disney's owned Fox channels, NHK (which is quite strict with it's license) and Sky News. But since Fox has folded, only NHK and Sky is affected

Also no radio channels for some reason

Thanks for the comparison. I may stick to Ultrabox for multi-room then.
