*
It is. For Astro GO, 1080p streaming is only for Multiroom Smart TV app.

Hi guys I’m having second thoughts whether I should “upgrade” to Ulti box for my wife from my old Astro decoder.

Besides the hanging issue, is there anything else I should be looking for? Like what are the cons for my old lady? I don’t want her to bug me later on. Thank you in advance.
*
You can read it here. This also applies to your upgrade to Ulti Box.

https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry110092462

The summarization of the above link is as follows:

QUOTE
Plug & Play Cons:
- If you use Astro's Plug & Play service, your Ulti Box streams TV channels through the internet, not a satellite dish.
- This setup often causes buffering and lower video quality, regardless of your internet speed or connection type.
- These problems come from Astro’s side, not yours.

Prefer Satellite Mode:
- These issues don’t happen using the satellite dish connection.
- If you didn’t tell the agent you want the Ulti Box to use a satellite dish, they’ll automatically set you up for Plug & Play.
- If your reason for choosing Plug & Play is to avoid rain interruption, know that the Ulti Box can automatically switch to internet streaming during heavy rain as a backup.
- If you want to switch your Ulti Box back to satellite mode, you’ll need to call customer service. An installer must come to set it up, and your 24-month contract will restart.
- Don’t try to switch it to satellite mode yourself—it won’t work unless Astro updates your account in their system.

The Ulti Box in Satellite mode works just like the older models, using a dish connection and allowing you to switch channels by entering channel numbers. If you want extra features like movie rentals, video-on-demand (VOD), cloud recording, Play from Start, and access to streaming apps, just connect it to a LAN cable or Wi-Fi.

If you're planning to upgrade to the Ulti Box soon, be sure to tell the Astro agent that you want the Satellite method (note: additional fees apply). Otherwise, the default setup will be the Plug & Play (Internet mode).
The Ulti Box comes with a 24-month contract.

Is this true? shocking.gif
I thought can easily reset the ultrabox and choose satellite mode, then let it find for the correct settings. At least this should be applicable for centralized satellite in high rise, I cannot validate anymore because I don't subscribe to Astro satellite anymore.
*
Yes, unfortunately. Since Astro's default method is Plug & Play, the system is locked into your account's SIM card, bound with the box.

That's why, before placing an upgrade order for the box, make sure to request Satellite mode. They often set it to Plug & Play to cut down on labor costs.

Side note: Ch 398 is not available on Plug & Play.

I see mine was satellite and then I can choose P&P and I guess that's why I can switch back to satellite as well.

Did it work? That means you can watch either way.

Ya, just that my DCSS in my condo also spoilt so I had to choose P&P, otherwise I won't switch to P&P.

Anyway, this was your answer to me previously when I asked about switching it back to satellite. tongue.gif

So if I understand it correctly, if by default it is satellite, you can switch to P&P/satellite anytime. However, if it is on P&P, cannot switch to satellite and need the installer to come to our place to change it?
*
Precisely.

Astro fibre rm90 for 500mbps no terms and conditions right?
*
A 2-year contract, and that’s it.

At RM90, it’s unclear whether the price will go back to the original RM189 after the contract ends or if it’ll remain at RM90. Since I’m not on Astro Fibre due to coverage unavailability.

Astro feed of ntv7 (Ch 147) aired Wakenabeb during what’s usually its shutdown slot for Hot FM.

It seemed to be part of some maintenance—first showing Astro’s broadcast interruption card, then briefly switching to Wakenabeb for a few minutes before returning to regular programming.

I was using the Play from Start feature on my Ultra Box, but it froze during the switch.

Hi, can share more details about this prime account sign up?
This prime video is only on Ultra/ulti box, no TV apps available yet, right?

Do you also have information, how much is the cost of the package when the free access lapses? Or will it be included for free for certain package?
*
Prime Video is from Amazon and has been available in Malaysia for a few years now. Astro is the latest pay-TV partner to offer it after Unifi TV.

You can already get the Prime Video app on mobile and web — just download it from the App Store, Play Store, or visit https://primevideo.com.

Pricing-wise, it’s RM25 per month or RM228 for a full year (RM19/mth). There’s just one plan, and it supports 4K streaming — no fancy tiers or upgrades needed.

Astro and Unifi TV are simply offering the same monthly RM25 subscription, but billed through them.

For Astro customers, there’s a promo where you get 2 months of free access if you activate before June 23, 2025. Just make sure your Prime Video account isn’t already subscribed.

After that, Prime Video will be free if you’re on certain TV packs — mainly those with Movies (from 2021 and earlier) or the latest Astro One: Epic Pack. Otherwise, it’ll be RM25 a month a la carte, no special discount. Prime Video will be available as an app add-on via My Astro app.

Finally, the TV guide is available on Sooka. Previously, you had to click the channel logo and go to its video player to reveal the feature.

https://product.astro.com.my/apps/sunnxt    its rm25 ! I have mine from india at RM70 per year with Doly Vision HDR but have to use VPN. Those with Indian Favs add RM10 those on basic add Rm25. Most likely will be like disney hotstar with geo locked content puke.gif

Well, the good news is:

All Sun TV channels (211–217) are now completely free for all Astro customers subscribed to participating basic TV packs (Astro One: Entertainment Pack, Primary Pack).

All Indian channels are now fully accessible. The Indian Favourites add-on has been discontinued starting today.
Customers who were subscribed to Indian Favourites (and Maharaja Pack) will now receive the Sun NXT Lite plan by default. You can upgrade to Sun NXT Premium by adding RM10.

For everyone else, Sun NXT Premium is now available for RM25/month via the My Astro app — saving you RM3 off the regular price of RM28/month.

Cheers.

Hey, I just realised that Syok's web radios have been nerfed so badly that only the main channels are available. I remember that we used to have tons of them, but now they're gone. Was it because they aren't that popular, or do they prefer streaming on music apps instead...

It was discontinued in Nov 2024 due to Astro’s cost saving measures.
