Just noticed the Sport Lite in Value Pack has changed to Premier League Pack with an additional ASSP3.

My guess is there will be price hike for full Sports Pack. Hence Astro now create many sport packs like sport lite, premier league pack, astro supersport can even be subscribed per channel (1/2/3/4). This is to maintain sport subscribers and so that they won't terminate sport pack altogether. So the new sport packages are more flexible. If one only watches EPL, no need to subscribe fox sports and bein sports.

Sooner or later, price for sport content will keep increasing. Perhaps because COVID 19 this year may not see any hike. But when everything is normalized again, new rate will apply for sports broadcasting.

Err, what 'insider info'?? I'm not from Astro also... It's kinda expected for that to happen... Very unlikely that Astro would dare to increase the price for Sports pack anymore, at least not anytime soon. Because it's no surprise to think that because of this COVID-19 global pandemic, economy going down, major live sports events were severely affected, hence customer's spending power goes down, so ultimately customer don't get what they want, of course if Astro want to retain too many customers that wants to downgrade package, they will go to the point of making their packages cheaper.
So what we are seeing now, is basically Astro trying to make its majority/premium customers happy, by reducing further financial damage.
Yes, making their sports channels cheaper does hurt their profit, but if they don't do that, that will hurt them even more in the long run as more upsetting customers downgrading their packages (they feel like not worth subscribing anymore, since not much or don't have live sports matches that they want to watch now).
And one of their method, is to at least make Sports Pack more flexible, by splitting it into many 'variation' of Astro SuperSport channels like what we're seeing now, and also include ASSP 1, 2 and 3 into all Value Packs
Imagine those who subscribe to Astro only because of Sports content (and pretty much nothing else), now live sports events aren't as much/normal as those days anymore, some would even go to the point of terminating the service altogether.
So Astro got to decide, you want to:
remain your Sports pack's expensive price like now, while each customer gives you RM0 per month forever upon terminating your service,
or
make your Sports pack to be flexible and cheaper, so that at least customers are still paying you something per month in the long run?

It is believed that at least one-third or half of the content and consumer company’s current subscribers have the Sports Pack as part of their subscription.
Source: https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...for-astros-planAstro rely a lot on sports content when it comes to company's profit. So Astro have no choice but to give in a bit...
You might not care about Astro's financially, but Astro is doing all it takes for own survival and go through this hard times.
That's why Astro have no choice but to make tough decisions, no matter how much they hate it.

Well it's possible..
When the last time they hike the pricing? Can't really remember 🤔
Maybe Astro do feels like foreign sport event have more demand? Malaysia one only recently have some interest... Before this I don't think that strong... Unifi taking different approach.. since they cannot get those sports package from content providers.. so they take up local sports events? Not to overlap with Astro??

As for sports offerings on Unifi TV, they just wanna get some sports content for its Unifi TV customers to watch only... And make it exclusive, so that Unifi TV can earn some profit from there, since viewers got to pay to Unifi to watch it.
