We can now subscribe to HBO Max + Disney Hotstar as low as RM21.60/ month. 12 months contract apply. A good bargain for me.
*

Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max (12 mths contract)
Finally, a good "substitute" of an equivalent of the good old 'Movies Pack', but without Prime Video. Better than nothing, unlike the "all out and pricey" Astro One: Epic Pack. sweat.gif

Plan name Astro's selling price Disney+ Hotstar plan HBO Max plan
Duo Basic RM59.80 RM21.60 Basic Standard
Duo Premium RM92.80 RM57.24 Premium Ultimate

Since the HBO Max 12 months option has been discontinued, now this appears to be the replacement moving forward. Based on the info I got from a reliable source, here's what I gathered:
  • If your subscription contains Movies (pack or addon), such as Movies Pack, or Astro One: Epic Pack, then you are not eligible for this app bundle.
  • If you've already subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar and/or HBO Max monthly apps addon(s), you can opt for this 12 month plan easily via My Astro, even if changing to different tiers (e.g. change from Max Ultimate monthly plan to Max Standard 12 months, it is possible also).
To do it on My Astro's edit addons section, uncheck your subscribed Disney+/HBO Max monthly apps addon(s), then this 12 months app bundle option will become selectable.
  • The 12-month contract will automatically renew every year. Meaning, you’ll remain in a continuous contract for life (only for this app bundle itself) unless you either cancel the app bundle or upgrade to packs that includes this 2 apps (i.e. Astro One: Epic Pack).
  • You will receive a WhatsApp/SMS reminder within one month before the contract expiry date.
  • If you inform Astro to cancel the bundle within one month before the contract end date, then no termination fee.
  • You can opt out the auto renewal by informing the customer service before contract ends. That would mean, this app bundle will be removed from your subscription once the 12 months contract ends.
  • If you cancel this bundle before contract ends, you will be imposed with a fixed penalty amount of RM100 for Duo Basic, or RM170 for Duo Premium, regardless of number of remaining unfinished months.
  • Special rule for this bundle: You can change between Duo Basic and Duo Premium at anytime, and your contract period remains unchanged (will not trigger any contract restart).
  • As long you're on this app bundle, you will enjoy the same price forever.
  • No switching fee if you downgrade or change this bundle's tier on My Astro app or https://myastro.astro.com.my/.
  • Unlike the short-lived HBO Max 12 months offer that has ended, this app bundle is perpetual.

Five Restaurants Fork Out RM182K For Pirating Astro Content
https://corporate.astro.com.my/mediaroom-re...g-astro-content

Well, if consume piracy content privately, not that easy to catch.
But if consume piracy content publicly, particular those who uses TV box or Astro residential accounts to show Astro channels in business places (especially on sports content), then it is easier for Astro to take action. Definitely there will be more and more news like this moving forward...

Since increasing its subscription prices for residential customers like us, will likely get backfired by customers as it will encourage more terminations or downgrades eventually, hence catching those "big fishes" at business places (especially mamak) will be their go-to method to earn revenue through court cases.

Job roles that involves anti-piracy isn't new in Astro also. I remember I saw similar job postings few years back also.

Damn, imagine if their work looks like this: "This month I must report at least 1 commercial establishment where their TV showing Astro channel that does not have the square icon on bottom right corner, otherwise I'll be in trouble cuz can't achieve KPI... Mamak and food courts would be a good place to start with. " 😆😆

I am currently on Value Pack 1 + Dinsey HBO Duo Basic. Whatsapp Astro to change to Astro One Sport with 24 months discount + maintain disney hbo (ori price of sport pack RM99.99) but RM30/24 months. I was stunned that the agent said this is a package downgrade. Hence RM10.80 switching fees apply. Can someone here confirm?
*

Wait, what you mean "RM30/24 months"? Are you perhaps, already been enjoying some RM30 discounts already (previous retention discounts?) or how?

Alternatively, try do it on My Astro app or https://myastro.astro.com.my/ and see if it allows you to proceed.

I doubt there are many people out there who proactively report to Astro on that. If it is you, would you report to Astro? hmm.gif

In my opinion, people with very high chance that would report such matter is Astro staffs themselves, particularly from the anti-piracy team (same department as what you guys saw on the job role opening)
For instance, that staff go to mamak to yamcha with friends after work or late night supper, then they see the TV showing Astro Premier League channel, and it doesn't have the white square icon on bottom right corner of the TV screen there.

Or, another reason to proactively report to Astro, is because you want to intentionally cause trouble to that commercial establishment (e.g. mamak), maybe because you hate or hold onto resentment towards the shop owner or they did something against you in the past.

Unfortunately I won't be getting the TV stick because my google TV already have Sooka app. So I don't think I will get to enjoy 4K, just 1080p
*
QUOTE(doubleM2 @ Aug 29 2025, 07:38 PM)
Check the sooka TV guide menu again — do you now see Astro Sports UHD and Love Nature 4K listed?

If they’re there, you can finally enjoy those channels without needing to purchase a new sooka TV Stick.
*

If your Android TV supports Netflix streaming in 4K, then technically 4K UHD streaming on the Sooka app should be supported (Sooka Premium plan required).

Personally, I don't recommend purchasing Sooka TV stick (unless you're a Sooka hardcore fan, then different story).
Even till today, Sooka TV stick is NOT Netflix-certified, meaning you can't even install Netflix app in it. It doesn't allow sideloading APK as well.
You will not be getting the proper Android TV experience as what you can expect.
https://support.sooka.my/hc/en-us/articles/...roduct-Features

Your money will be better spent buying a well-known, Netflix-certified TV stick or box instead, as the overall hardware specs and user experience will be far better than the Sooka TV stick.
Notable examples are Xiaomi TV Stick 4K, Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen), etc.

If you just care about able to stream Sooka all day, then Sooka TV should work fine.
As what I know, Disney+ app works fine on Sooka TV stick, but Netflix app is definitely out of the question (Google Play Store will say device not supported).

On the other hand, if your smart TV (running on either Android OS, LG webOS or Samsung Tizen) and the Sooka app is already pre-installed, or you can install the Sooka app, then you can forget about Sooka TV stick already.

So you're saying that all of your subscribed channels suddenly show the message "This channel is included in your subscription”, right?

Hi Sifus.

I tried to swap my first floor Ultra Box to ground Floor's Ulti Box; but after I've installed the Ultra box, it shows that there is "no satellite signal".

Both TV boxes work before and still working after I swap them back.

For my case, is this because that my ultra box needed a different setting? or normally, both box should be working after swap place and it's the cable issue? look forward for your advice. thank you in advance
*

To advise further, I need to know, for both of your Ulti and Ultra Box:

1) Press home > keep pressing right arrow to the gear icon (Settings) and select it
2) Scroll down to Satellite Settings, press OK
3) Select "LNB Setup"

What is the LNB Type setting that is already selected for both of your Ulti and Ultra Box respectively?

Also, if you are able to see where your Astro dish installed at, can you confirm how many satellite cables connected to the dish (LNB)? Is it 1 or 2?
As far as you know, do you use any cable splitter for the satellite cable connection?

Thanks for your reply and sorry for my late reply.

The "LNB setup" in both Ultra and Ulti Box are "dCSS".

My house's satellite dish is an old one with a few cable connected to it. But when the Astro technician came to install the Ultra / Ulti box, they only use 1 cable from satellite and connect to a "splitter", and split into connect to 2 cables for the 2 Ultra & Ulti Box. I can see my sat dish and quite certain this is how the cables setup.

Anything you need to check on the decoder box? look forward to get your advice.
*

That's weird... I assume the LNB on your satellite dish is in blue colour now, right? Or it's silver colour?

The "LNB setup" in both Ultra and Ulti Box are "dCSS"
If that's the case, then the Satellite Settings should be correct.

I'd like to clarify:

When you swap from
Ground Floor: Ultra Box (has signal)
First Floor: Ulti Box (has signal)

to

Ground Floor: Ulti Box (this one no satellite signal?)
First Floor: Ultra Box (how about this one? has signal or no signal?)

The box that doesn't have satellite signal after swapping it, can you double check whether did you connect the satellite cable connection properly?
And once it is connected properly, try unplug the power of the box, then connect it back, then see if you can view the channels normally later on.
This is to rule out the possibility of "software glitch" which it does happen to me.

If issue persists, then going back to your first post, you mentioned "no satellite signal"...
Which error message did you saw? Is it "Switch to Continouous Viewing" or "Services Currently Not Available (SCNA)"? Which channels is it? All or some?

Im not sure what is LNB but if its the small round device pointing to the dish : then mine is silver colour round cap with a black body.

Before swap, both boxes has satellite signal and working like normal. When I move the ultra box downstair's TV, yes you are right, it shows the "switch to continuous viewing" pop up window. I tried a few channel and its the same. After swap them back to their Original position, both are working like normal again.

I didnt get the chance to try the Ulti box on first floor TV because I thought the Ultra box have to be working normally first, in order to have the the Ulti box working. Also, i got panic and I thought that I messed up the Ultra box setting. I think i press "ok" to a pop up menu (I cant remember what) after first start up.

I think I "screw in" the cable connector into the Ultra box quite thoroughly and maybe I should try it again during the weekend.

In your opinion and based on my setup, the swap of the decoder boxes should be working straightaway, if i connected it correctly?

Thank you for helping me on this silly Astro box issue. I really want to cancel the second decoder / Ulti Box because my parents no longer watching TV on the first floor.
*

I think I "screw in" the cable connector into the Ultra box quite thoroughly and maybe I should try it again during the weekend.
Not just thoroughly, but also insert correctly. You try it out this weekend first, then see how.
If you notice that the F connector can be easily removed/pull out from the satellite cable (exposing the core of the cable), then it's better to re-terminate the cable and use a new F connector.

In your opinion and based on my setup, the swap of the decoder boxes should be working straightaway, if i connected it correctly?
By right, based on what you described, yes correct. It shouldn't have issue like this.

Besides "screwing in" the satellite cable connector, and if you see "Switch to Continouous Viewing" or SCNA, try reboot the box first, then check again.

Hi joshhd,

Current pack is Namma Pack+Sports Pack and Multi room. When I called earlier in Aug, there was once they offered RM120+ with tax with no contract but I could not confirm but subsequently when I called in Sept no such offer was made. I'm not sure if I'm asking for the right options. I called 03-95433838. They instead ask to cancel multi room which not an option for the 2 elderly folks that need both decoders to ensure a peaceful time of not arguing which channel to watch smile.gif.

Any advise would be great as it's too much to pay for limited use.
*

Current pack is Namma Pack+Sports Pack and Multi room.
Namma Pack, is also known as Value Pack 2.
Value Pack 2 (RM80) + Sports (RM33) + Multiroom (RM50) = RM163 + 8% tax = RM176.04

If you don't mind to have another 24 months contract, I suggest just switch to Astro One: Sports Pack (RM99.99).
All Indian channels already made "free" since Apr 2025. Meaning, you can already get complete Indian channels CH201 until CH251 even if you are on the basic packs like Astro One: Entertainment Pack (RM49.99).
More info: https://www.reddit.com/r/AstroMalaysia/comm...s_are_now_free/

If you don't want to switch to the new pack (which will triggers new 24 months contract), you can still try contact customer service again and see if they propose that retention offer to you (the one you mentioned earlier). This time, do try reaching out via Astro Facebook page.

1) Go to https://www.facebook.com/Astro
2) Private message them, by tap the "Message" button.
3) Type "Hi", then select language if being asked.
4) Type "agent"
5) You'll see a row of options. Scroll further to the right, look for "Reconnect/Terminate" option, and select that.
6) Now, wait for agent to attend you.

Once the agent responds, provide them your Astro account details (e.g. account number, name), then just tell them you want to downgrade to a cheaper pack, then let the agent propose the retention offer to you.
Just start fresh. No need to explain all these to the agent:

Eh no, it's programme ads, not product ads.

From what I observe, here's some examples of 30 seconds advertisements aired last night 8:00-8:30pm:
- Astro's own produced Chinese programmes
- Stream some Chinese shows On Demand and Astro GO
- Astro home of sports: Premier League related, badminton related...
- Some Korean shows from Disney+ Hotstar, tvN, tvN Movies, etc...
- Sign up Astro Fibre WiFi Kencang, get the limited edition Didi & Friends WiFi router

From 8:00pm till 8:30pm, imagine the entire 30 minutes just to see all these.
