Did that.
I am currently paying rm140 monthly (Super Pack Lite plus News plus Smartroom), they only offered me rm30 off with 3-year contract.
I said thanks for the offer, but no thanks.

Note that the way Sooka works means Smartroom is actually built in...
*

You mean Multiroom Smart TV... sweat.gif
Btw which Sooka plan are you on? Premium RM47.10/month?

QUOTE(GamersFamilia @ Jul 1 2025, 06:09 PM)
Did you terminate your account?
*

Yeah wanted to confirm about that too.
kkm Since you decline their retention offer, so what's the next process that they advised you?

Just received this Whatsapp message from Astro:

Dear Customer,

As the Home of Sports, Astro provides unmatched live coverage of the best world-class sports. The RM5/month Premium Pack 1 adjustment introduced in 2023 will take effect for you starting 1 Aug 2025, as your preferred pricing period ends.

More info here: https://service.astro.com.my/sportsupdate

Thank you,
Team Astro
*

Lol yeah. To me it's already an old news till I almost forgot sweat.gif
They increase the price very slowly, batch by batch since 2023, and now it's your turn.

I’m currently enjoying Prime Video for “free” with my Primary Pack subscription.

Last month, I added Prime Video from My Astro’s Ultra Box during the free two-month trial. When I launched Prime Video, a pop-up appeared asking whether I wanted to link the app directly to my account or continue using it until the trial ended.

I decided to go ahead and link it. The best part? When my June bill arrived, the Prime Video add-on wasn’t listed at all.

To my surprise, Prime Video has remained accessible without interruption ever since.
*

The 2 month access actually starts from the day you activate. So if you activated Prime Video last month June, then your 2 month access will become inaccessible on August. Get what I mean?

So nothing to be surprised here 🤭

Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of confusion here. Recently Astro called my sister to inform that her rebates are ending in August (means contract also tamat la). They offered her a package where she says they offer Astro Sports + 100MB (free upgrade) for RM189.75. I asked her to skip for the moment and did my own calculation as below.

Suppose she sub to AO Sports @ 99.99 and 100MBPS for RM60(Promo price shown in MyAstro app), doesn't that add up to RM169.60 + tax 6%?

Why was the agent price high?

Currently my sis is using Astro Sports Pack (the one on 2021) + Kids + Ind Fav & Astro 50Mbps @ 90.

Rebates include (-20 for package, -24 for internet, both ending August) ... Now shes paying RM196.05 + tax.

Are there any better option? Looking to lower the bill and getting this quote of just a few bucks less is sad tbh.
*

Hmmm...
user posted image

I think better you just tell your sister, call customer service and tell them that the price is too expensive. you don't wish to recontract, and if worst come to worse, you'll just terminate entire Astro altogether.
Then see what they say or offer after that.

Hey folks,

I've got a really dumb question. Is it possible to just subscribe to the Astro Multiroom without getting a new Ulti/Ultra box.

I'm still using the PVR box and currently subscribed to the legacy pack, Super Pack 1 with few addons.

I'm planning to upgrade but not sure if the Ulti/Ultra box is compulsory to have?

Thanks!
*

My last knowledge about this is, as long you are on the legacy pack, and if you don't see the option to add Multiroom on My Astro ( https://myastro.astro.com.my/ ), then try contact customer service and ask them to add Multiroom. Live chat also can.

Is it possible to just subscribe to the Astro Multiroom without getting a new Ulti/Ultra box.
I believe you're referring to the Multiroom (Smart TV) rather than Multiroom (Box).
They do have such option where you can download/install the Astro app on your smart TV, then log in to your Astro account, then can start watching Astro there already.
No box needed.

This one costs RM14.99 per month, and there's no contract so you can cancel anytime.
Before subscribing this, make sure to launch the apps store on your smart TV (e.g. LG Content Store for LG TV, Smart Hub for Samsung TV, Play Store for Android OS TV) is able to search and install the Astro app.

I'm planning to upgrade but not sure if the Ulti/Ultra box is compulsory to have?
Generally it is not mandatory that your primary box must be an Ulti/Ultra Box to be able to subscribe Multiroom. The eligibility criteria is not based on your existing Astro box model.

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes I am planning to change my subscription from the legacy pack to their current offering. I rather not have additional box if installing apps to the smart TV is suffice. I'll check with the customer service then.

Thanks!
*

What pack do you plan to change into?
If your intention is to lower your month fee, then they will propose retention offer to you, and that will only happen if you call customer service biggrin.gif

Hye..i have a question to ask and hopefully, I'm not rude to be asking here yea. Appologies if I am though.

My grandfather passed away a few days ago. He has an astro account that was recently renewed for 24 months as it was to get him a bill at a lower price.

My question is, would astro entertain any  application to close down the account and waive the penalty for breaking the contract?
*

Condolences...

Send email to wecare@astro.com.my, tell them the account owner, [insert name here] has passed away. Attach the death certificate in the email, state your relationship with the account owner (i.e. grandchildren), and no one in the household have the intention to continue with Astro, hence would like to close the account.

See what they say.

*

If yours is News & Documentary addon (RM14.99), then yes, it can be removed by only calling customer service. Other methods like using My Astro or live chat, won't be entertained for content addon removals.

If your News & Documentary is already bundled in your pack (i.e. Platinum Pack or Astro One: Epic Pack), then you cannot remove it.

QUOTE(street @ Aug 2 2025, 11:23 PM)
Anyone been able to subscribe Netflix via Astro billing?

Recently stopped my Netflix subscription in July but now I wanted to rejoin Netflix via Astro billing now it just says “Sorry, this offer can’t be found”.

I do this because I don’t want to be tied to 24-months contract, so I can freely “on and off” my Netflix subscription.
*

To subscribe Netflix and charged through Astro billing as an a-la-carte monthly addon (not the 24 month contract addon that you see on My Astro), then the only way to do that is subscribe Netflix directly from your Ulti/Ultra Box.
Firstly, launch Netflix app on your Ulti/Ultra Box. One of the shortcut to do that is tune to CH741.
From there, login to a Netflix account where the subscription is not active, or create new one on the spot if you want.
Then you will be prompted which plan you want to proceed with, just follow the instructions accordingly.

Note: If that Netflix account already has an active subscription, then it will be treated as if you login Netflix to any device; it won't migrate the payment method of that account to Asto billing whatsoever.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 3 2025, 12:14 AM)
I’m still using Astro for billing, able to do it since 3 years ago but isn’t it once tied to Astro billing also means 24 months contract?
*

Not neccessary. If you subscribe Netflix by launching the app directly on your Ulti/Ultra Box, then it will be a standalone monthly addon. The price will be the same as retail price, and there's no contract.
However, if you want to subscribe Netflix through Astro but NOT launching Netflix directly on your Ulti/Ultra Box, such as through My Astro app, then the only option you'll see today is the 24-month contract options.

QUOTE(street @ Aug 3 2025, 12:37 AM)
Mine didn’t tied to any contract. It functions as its own payment method ala carrier billing. I’ve been doing it ever since Netflix was available on Ultra Box.

To anyone wondering why not use CC - Very convenient I’d say. All my tv subs in one bill. With Prime Video coming in… feels so organized
*

Not everyone has that thought in mind, but yeah, it is considered common practice among many pay TV providers around the world with the ability to include streaming apps charges in the same bill with a pay TV service, possibly at either same or lower price than original retail price.

You subscribe Prime Video as a standalone addon from Astro also?

QUOTE(fruitie @ Aug 3 2025, 01:07 AM)
I see. I subscribed mine before it was on UltraBox I think, then only the app came to UB. I get discount for my Netflix (upgraded to Premium) on Sports Plus Pack, so I just continued and got tied with 24 months. Next round I probably won’t do it anymore.
*

I remember the business rule back then was, it is mandatory to change to Ultra Box if you subscribe to Sports Plus Pack, because that pack has Netflix bundled in it (Netflix Standard plan).
You asked this before:
QUOTE(fruitie @ May 7 2025, 09:08 PM)
Hi, I'm on Sports Plus Pack + Netflix Premium and considering ending my Netflix subscription. Is this allowed? Or can I downgrade to Astro One: Sports Pack? laugh.gif

Or nothing I can do now until my contract ends in Oct 2026? sweat.gif
*

Astro already discontinue their contract auto renewal last year, so once your contract ends on Oct 2026, then your account will no longer have contract after that.

Comparison of streaming apps add-on prices (Astro vs Unifi) (Aug 2025)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Instead of subscribing to your favourite streaming apps individually (e.g., using your own payment methods like debit/credit card or e-wallet), you can consider subscribing through Astro or Unifi—especially if you already have either Astro or Unifi installed at home. The key advantage is the potential to enjoy lower subscription fees for some streaming apps, along with the convenience of a single, consolidated bill.

Some Astro or Unifi TV packages even include some—or all—of your favourite apps. Although it often provides the best value, it typically comes with a 24-month contract, which may not appeal to everyone.

As an alternative, you can subscribe to streaming apps as standalone add-ons via your preferred provider (Astro or Unifi). In this case, the subscription fee is simply added to your Astro or Unifi monthly bill—giving you the flexibility to remove them anytime (unless if there's specific app contract).

Both Astro and Unifi offer a variety of streaming apps. To get the best deal, it’s worth comparing which provider offers the lowest price for the apps you want.

Here's a comparison table of the streaming app’s add-on prices between Astro and Unifi:

QUOTE(fJok3R @ Aug 4 2025, 01:34 PM)
Yeah I've been in touch with the customer support. So I'm thinking of the sports pack, but then I'll lose the Disney Hotstar and HBO Max from my current Super Pack 1 subscription. I think there's something wrong with the dish, everytime I unplugged the PVR box when I'm away from home, then turn it back again, somehow the box cannot be turned on, saying there's no signal.

Last time it happened, it fixes itself after a week or so, so not sure what's going on.

I am paying for Netflix Premium + Prime separately all these while but I'm thinking to get the Epic pack + Ultra box upgrade. Would that make sense?

Also wondering if I can switch my existing Netflix and Prime account to use Astro for billing instead of creating a new account?
*

Since you're on Super Pack 1 and still using PVR box, you can actually swap it to Ultra Box for free and no new contract.
Just tell customer service that you still want it to be on Satellite, and then installer will come over and install/fix it for you.
Unless if you want it to be Plug & Play mode (means fully Internet streaming, no more using satellite dish), then it's different story, but do embrace issues like picture quality fluctuation, intermittent buffering and streaming latency.

Note: You will lose all your recordings in your PVR box once you swap to Ultra Box

I am paying for Netflix Premium + Prime separately all these while
Super Pack already entitles you HBO Max (Standard plan), Disney+ Hotstar (Basic plan) and Prime Video, so you don't need to subscribe Prime Video separately anymore.

You can migrate your existing Prime Video subscription and link it with your Astro subscription.
First, you need to cancel Prime Video subscription on your existing Amazon account. Once you can no longer watches it, you go https://product.astro.com.my/apps/primevideo to login to your Astro ID, and then login to that Amazon account, then it will be linked already.

Similar process applies to Netflix.

Regardless if you subscribe Astro Fibre right now or after your current contract ends, you will still get a fresh new 24 months contract for your Astro subscription, and it starts from the day of installation.

QUOTE(street @ Aug 15 2025, 01:13 PM)
Anyone ever got prorated bills on Netflix subscription? How does it look like?
*

If subscribe to apps (i.e. Netflix), then you'll see something like 'Reverse charges' on the bill. Prorated charges will start from the day you subscribe until your billing date.
If remove apps (i.e. Netflix), then no proration at all.

Eh really? I am currently settling my sister's package. The agent advised me to remain in the Sport Pack (2021) and I actually wanted to upgrade the Astro Fibre to 100MBPS (previously on 50Mbps as the package was not eligible for the speed upgrade during that time). I asked the agent and they said if I choose to remain in the old pack there won't be any contract (basically out of contract laa altho the app shows the auto renewed period). As for the fibre only they said will renew to 24m as I am technically upgrading the speed. (I made the upgrade via app as she got RM60 for 100Mbps PROMO; which for some reason was never offered at first by agents themselves.)

Now I'm just waiting for them to make changes to the Sport Pack (remove all add on like Kids, Ind Fav, and remain only Sports and Base)

The fibre not sure the progress as they asked to call in 2 days to 'confirm' (idk the procedure but for now ill just wait for Astro Fibre team to call and confirm the change).
*

"2 days to confirm"? Sounds like a system manual handling on their end... hmm.gif

Anyway, yeah, if you perform speed upgrade, then it'll trigger fresh 24 months contract.

Now I start to wonder, if the broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup 2026 ended up taken by streaming platforms like either Netflix/Disney+/HBO Max/Prime Video, and Astro don't get to have the coverage on that at all, then Astro is really gone case.
