Make sure your contract is almost finished. Call their customer service number, after language selection, press 2 and press 5 for termination. Hold for > 10 minutes.

Too late for me. My contract was over in October and called to downgrade on the day I was out of contract, monthly payment was reduced by RM 60 but they didn’t offer me anything. laugh.gif
Now I’m tied to another 24 months. I’m happy with the price reduction as I don’t need other channels except for Chinese, Sports and Netflix. Just that seeing you all get rebates and also can retain more channels makes me feel sad. laugh.gif

Even if you reatian more channels, you probably will not have much time to view it. So just had the one you currently have and be content  tongue.gif
By the way, Netflix will increase price for Astro subscriber. Non Astro already increase last year.
*
Yes I won’t watch but feel good to have. laugh.gif
Coming in March for Astro subscribers.

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jan 22 2025, 10:53 PM)
From Platinum Pack to Sports Pack Plus is a huge difference. I don't think they have a retention offer of as high as RM60 (or I might be wrong?  hmm.gif ) hence that's why they just let you proceed downgrade to the pack instead.

You can try again 2 years later when your contract ends.  sweat.gif
*
Yeah I don’t want to pay more now. So if they offer RM 30 discount I may not accept. hmm.gif Anyway, let’s see two years later.

Hi guys, the DCSS in my condo is having issue and MO mentioned it requires an upgrade. However, the upgrade amount is quite hefty considering not many users are using DCSS.

Like suddenly yesterday while watching, it went to 0 signal and I had to switch to Internet viewing (continuous viewing)but switching channels is a PITA. I have to press a few buttons to be able to switch channels.

Here are my questions:
1) Can I unplug the RG6 cable from the wall satellite port and will it auto change to full a P&P box? Or any settings required?
2) If it can be changed to P&P by just unplugging the cable, will I miss out any channels if on P&P?
3) Is there any delay compared to the actual live TV?
4) Is it also that annoying to switch channels on P&P? Or can straight press the channel no. like on satellite?
5) Can I still switch back to DCSS in the future?

If the answers are negative, I may need to find other solutions.

First of all, your Astro Ultra Box is under Satellite right?

Afaik, here are the answers:

1) You need to reset the Ultra Box first. When reboot, set the box as “IPTV Plug & Play (self-install)” on step 3 of the startup page.

2) Yes, Ch 398; due to the broadcasting rights by the channel provider itself.

3) 30 seconds to 1 minute delay. Since it’s using a streaming method, not directly from satellite dish.

4) Um no, same as satellite. Just it buffers a bit when switching channels. The picture will be blurry first then goes to the highest quality by 5 seconds minimum (1080p 50fps). 4K UHD channels (Ch 549 & 805) will stutter frequently, regardless of the internet speed you currently have.

5) Of course. Same answer like 1), but switch to “Satellite”.

Correct me if I’m wrong. But hope it helps.
*
Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I’m currently on satellite.

1) I will read on how to reset the ultrabox.
2) Noted on 398 but I don’t watch it then should be OK.
3) OK, something still bearable.
4) Switching channels is easier on P&P then. I thought something like continuous viewing. Sad about the UHD channel 805 though I don’t watch it often but still.
5) Can I perform it myself or need technician to do it?

Anything I need to take note or jot down before I reset?

Thanks!

This is to update I managed to reset my box to a P&P box now. biggrin.gif
Finally, I no longer struggle with satellite issue. So far channel 805 UHD ok for me.

joshhd, yes like suddenly just appeared the message to ask me to switch to continuous watching. However, I noticed the quality from satellite has been bad recently. Like it will go pixelated for a few seconds on and off. This is the issues other residents are also having but the current dCSS can’t do much anymore unless it gets upgraded but I’m not sure upgrade to what equipment.

It’s around RM 7k and yes might need those units which are using satellite to fork out themselves. sweat.gif Then, only I knew only 3-5 units are affected by this issue, I was one of them. sweat.gif The rest are on P&P. laugh.gif I should have switched to P&P months ago. sweat.gif

OK, I will spend some time on UHD 805 next time. tongue.gif

But condos usually requires residents to pay for monthly management fees, isn't?
Shouldn't they use the funds collected from there, rather than telling only the residents who raises this complaint to fork out the money by themselves to fix the DCSS issue?
*
Yes but this is for all or majority of residents, so have to fork out. The next door condo is also having this issue and their residents shared and paid for the equipment upgrade.

Depends how many affected units, probably just 3-5 units. 1.4k to 2.3k I guess but I won’t pay even if today I’m not using ultrabox, worse I just terminate it. No point paying. laugh.gif

I didn't know there is also a contract attached to multi-room. Luckily, my contract for one of my multi-room accounts had expired last year's Oct and I'm able to terminate it.

Since my condo confirmed that equipment change is required if going to continue watching via Satellite. I tried P&P on my Ultrabox for a couple of days but it is taking a lot of my Internet bandwidth. I'm on 300Mbps and whenever I used the P&P, my Speedtest was showing 150Mbps ish which is still acceptable as I'm using the Internet alone. However, if I have any guests staying over at my place, then I guess I will have some issues.

Made the decision to terminate it and it will terminate it on the last day of my current bill cycle. Astro will arrange a courier service to pick up the box from me.

Will be switching to other alternatives now as I'm using an Android TV which makes things easier. brows.gif

From 300Mbps to ~150Mbps, that's massive drop after using P&P mode on your Ultra Box doesn't seem normal to me...
How many Ultra Boxes are operating at the time when you do speedtest? 1 or 2 boxes?

Astro's recommended speed for 4K UHD streaming is 30Mbps, Full HD streaming (usually referring to Ulti Box) is 10Mbps.

Your Ultra Box under P&P mode, is it connected to a LAN cable or WiFi?
And mind sharing, what is the WiFi router brand and model are you using?
*
1 box only. Yes, that's what I read too, max 30Mbps for UHD and it still continues to suck more bandwidth.

WiFi only. I'm using Asus TUF-AX3000 gaming router. I think I can set QoS for Ultrabox but I'm just lazy to do it and no point for me to use P&P to be honest if there are other options for me.

So how about the DCSS fix from your building management? When will the repair works complete, so you can start watching Astro via satellite again?
*
They are not going to fix it anymore, already sent out a memo and asked the affected units to change to P&P. laugh.gif
Only 3 units so doesn't make sense to spend that much to change the equipment.

Is it only your building block is affected? Or all other blocks of the same condo/apartment is affected too?

If it's convenient for you, can share what is your condo/apartment name?
*
We only have a block but our next door condo is also affected I heard.
No la, not sharing the place I live. laugh.gif

Cancelled one of my multiroom accounts back in early Feb, and until today, Astro hasn't contacted me to collect the equipment. Hmm. Does anybody have any experience regarding this?

Your Multiroom account, is it a HD or PVR box? If yes, then they usually won't bother to collect it back, cuz for them it's considered discontinued product.
*
It’s an ultrabox.

To be honest, I have no issue with Ultrabox. Kinda happy with the upgrade. Our main decoder is also using an Ultrabox. Watching all the VODs is good stuff.

You need to make sure Multiroom Smart TV is included in your subscription. You can subscribe it through My Astro app or https://myastro.astro.com.my/ and the price is RM14.99/mth if you don't have one.
There is no contract for this, so you can cancel it anytime.
*
Eh so cheap? Not RM 29.99? I thought 14.99 is just for a few months? Can I know if there’s a compatible smart TV list?

The promo price is there for quite a while, originally should be ended January 2024 if I’m not mistaken. But Astro continues the RM15 price cut till this day, so I’m glad with it.

The official TV brands are:
• LG (webOS),
• Samsung (Tizen OS),
• Sharp (Android TV; Google TV), and
• Sony (Android TV; Google TV).
Source: https://acm-cms-assets.eco.astro.com.my/acm...er/smtvlist.pdf

Others, I suspect, include Hisense (Android TV; Google TV) and select streaming boxes (in my case: Unifi TV Box V2 Hybrid, Android TV 12).
*
This is awesome! Gotta find a way to subscribe to it. I’m using Sony TV so it’s compatible. I checked with CS before I terminated my multiroom Ultrabox, she said after three months will be RM 30, hence I didn’t proceed. Main reason is also I didn’t know it was without contract tied. My mistake for not checking. laugh.gif

Anyway, I assume no remote won’t be given and I have to use my tv remote to navigate through the channels.

Yes. Contract-free, can cancel anytime (only by contacting Astro via WhatsApp); considering the Astro TV app is also a streaming service.

No specific remote control after all. You can use the same TV remote to navigate the app.
*
How to change channels? Just press the numbers on the tv remote right?
