I use with LG TV, other TV brand I not sure.

Eh, can key in the channel number? Nice. biggrin.gif
OK, I will subscribe when I'm back to my own house later. tongue.gif

But There is a few short coming, first this is streaming service, not broadcast service through the astro dish.
So as mentioned some of the channel and audio is not available.
Second, streaming service depend heavily on number of people watching the channels and the server can overload. I do experience that the screen stop claiming that lost network or something and need to press reconnect to resume. Quite irritating especially during news session and badminton match last time
Depending on your TV processor, in my case it is not as smooth if compare to the ultrabox when navigating, it is like half a second slow.
*
Thanks for sharing your feedback. I'll give it a try and terminate it when it doesn't fit my usage. tongue.gif
But having lost network during a badminton match is indeed irritating. shakehead.gif

I have been using the smartTV more than a year... I remember after 1 year, the revert the price to the original from the discounted price. I didn't bother about it back then and pay the full price for sometimes.
Then recently I recontract to the new one package, and then the price revert back to discounted price.
So, as some member mention, it is without contract, I think we can hack the system by cancel and resubscribed again if the price is no longer discount (I never try it though)
*
Just now while I was meddling around the app, it shows the discounted price is until Dec 2025, see if it will be extended. laugh.gif

Better just use My Astro to subscribe to Multiroom Smart TV.

If you want to subscribe Multiroom Smart TV through CH200 > WhatsApp chatbot, you'll have to go through live agent (which is available only on working hours). There's no dedicated self serve flow like My Astro app/web.
As long the remote control has numpad or ch-/+ buttons, it should work just fine. And yes, just press the numpad on your TV remote control to tune to other channels.
It is just like Plug & Play service.
100% Internet connection, and the streaming performance is at the mercy of their servers.
*
Hope that it won't suck 150Mbps of my Internet like when I had a short stint with the P&P. tongue.gif

Is there any rule now need to switch to the latest package in order to get multiroom etc? I remember reading it somewhere that this condition has been removed, not sure if I remember it wrongly.

Afaik, only via Astro WhatsApp or CS number. My Astro app disallows this action for legacy packs.
*
I see. The “confirm order” button is not greyed out in my app, I guess mine still works. I still don’t need it now, I will subscribe it in a few weeks later. I’m not on the latest Astro One, still with Sports Plus Pack.

- If you want to switch your Ultra Box back to satellite mode, you’ll need to call customer service. An installer must come to set it up, and your 24-month contract will restart.
- Don’t try to switch it to satellite mode yourself—it won’t work unless Astro updates your account in their system.
*
Is this true? shocking.gif
I thought can easily reset the ultrabox and choose satellite mode, then let it find for the correct settings. At least this should be applicable for centralized satellite in high rise, I cannot validate anymore because I don't subscribe to Astro satellite anymore.

Yes, unfortunately. Since Astro's default method is Plug & Play, the system is locked into your account's SIM card, bound with the box.
*
I see mine was satellite and then I can choose P&P and I guess that's why I can switch back to satellite as well.

Did it work? That means you can watch either way.

Ya, just that my DCSS in my condo also spoilt so I had to choose P&P, otherwise I won't switch to P&P.

Anyway, this was your answer to me previously when I asked about switching it back to satellite. tongue.gif

So if I understand it correctly, if by default it is satellite, you can switch to P&P/satellite anytime. However, if it is on P&P, cannot switch to satellite and need the installer to come to our place to change it?

fruitie I remember you mentioned that your Astro account has multiple Multiroom boxes (not Smart TV), with some set up as Satellite and others as Plug & Play—if I remember correctly.
Apparently, when you perform a factory reset on the boxes that should be tagged as Plug & Play in Astro’s system and then you select Satellite instead, you're still able to access all your subscribed channels as usual.
This one I'm not too sure, maybe also because there's at least 1 Astro box is in Satellite in your Astro account (hence it grants all other boxes in your account to allow Satellite reception?), or maybe you just found their "loophole"...
*
Hmm. When I received the Ultrabox for my multiroom it’s a Plug&Play box and I was charged with RM 99 (it should be 199 right?). However, I specifically mentioned I wanted it to be used on satellite and the third party agent who processed my order confirmed it can be used on satellite. The installer came and it was connected to satellite since day 1. I only switched it to P&P myself as the equipment in my building broke down and I wasn’t able to watch with satellite.

So is it a loophole? I’m not sure but I did request I wanted it to be used on satellite.

I'm not sure about that... Maybe try ask that third party agent that attended you?

Anyway, since you can't really enjoy satellite reception properly on your condo, and Plug & Play is the only way, then Plug & Play it is.
*
Yeah and I cancelled it already because it took a lot of my bandwidth, not 30Mbps as claimed. Mine was 150Mbps and I know I can apply QoS to the box but I didn’t. Anyway, no point paying RM 53 for P&P in my case. Next I will try the smart TV multiroom since my TV supports it.

Multiroom Smart TV uses Internet streaming also...
What if you find that it consumes more than 30Mbps as what you described earlier? Cancel it later?
*
Yes, so long not more than 60-80Mbps I still can accept I guess, otherwise I will cancel it since no contract. biggrin.gif

Is there anyone with experience switching from UniFi to Astro Fiber? I assume not much difference since it is still going to ride on UniFi infra. What about the support in case of any outage etc?

I'm thinking to switch our home broadband to Astro Fiber since we are paying RM 129 for 500Mbps vs Astro Fiber RM 90 for 500Mbps.

A 2-year contract, and that’s it.

At RM90, it’s unclear whether the price will go back to the original RM189 after the contract ends or if it’ll remain at RM90. Since I’m not on Astro Fibre due to coverage unavailability.
*
I thought so long there is UniFi coverage, then you will have it? It is riding on UniFi infra.

That's what I've heard too, 2 years contract, after that will be unknown, if rm189 i would rather stick to my current unifi which is rm139 per month for 500mbps if im not mistaken
*
After two years, can always apply other ISPs since every company is so competitive now.
I'm paying RM 129 for 500Mbps now anyway.

Just sharing information as I'm also using astro fiber, they provide a router as well, but for the fiber optic gateway, they will reuse the Unifi one if it is already available.
Their router can use smart phone app to control, but I basically just use it to restart remotely
*
Nice. My sister will reuse back the TP Link router but need to look for the settings.
So far OK with your connection?

QUOTE(GamersFamilia @ Apr 15 2025, 05:18 PM)
Just checked my email, yea it's rm129 per month for 500mbps

Well i guess it's a good idea change it in every 2 years, which providers offer the best deal, just grab it 🙂
*
Yeah, since all riding on UniFi only.

RM90 price only lasts for 24 months (together with 24 months contract). From 25th month onwards, it will revert back to original price of RM189.
As expected, Astro would reach out to you again before your contract ends, upselling you another offer at that time + recontract another 24 months.

Yes, Astro Fibre is mainly riding on TM infra.

If you're using Unifi Fibre now (not the one that uses copper VDSL), basically you should be able to subscribe to Astro Fibre.
In most cases, you will need to go through Transfer Request process (migrate from your existing ISP to Astro Fibre, without losing or releasing your fibre port to your neighbours).
Astro Fibre's unique selling point is bundling your Astro TV subscription together with Internet service (Astro Fibre) in one bill.
However, current Astro Fibre offerings is more suitable to those who intend to subscribe both Astro and Fibre together.
For those who only wants Internet (don't want Astro TV), then you can forget about Astro Fibre.
*
Thanks for the link. Yeah, I will need to find out the process. Most probably, we will go ahead to change the ISP.

What you mean find out the process? hmm.gif
Basically, if you want to migrate to Astro Fibre, just sign it up through My Astro, then they will take it over from there and agent will contact you to verify some information as necessary.

From your end, remember to clear all outstanding balance on your Unifi bill first, or else the Transfer Request process will be rejected, hence you end up wasting more time to migrate to another ISP (Astro Fibre).
*
Yes, I will do it now. Need to ask my sister if there is any outstanding, if she has paid the latest bill.
