Avatar's real boost was way later, that's the problem, the momentum was still there

About Avengers, this week onwards have to see whether the momentum still can be maintained or not

Let's say if they were to do Civil War arc, damn.....wonder how many actor and actresses they need to do the whole thing laugh.gif

The numbers are based on  Theatrical Box-Office...  meaning not including home video and television broadcast....

based on what i observed, when blu ray comes out, that movies box office continually to increase even it has been stopped along ago.

For example ... the 2 top earners.... Avatar and Titanic are earning more than 3 billion (including theatrical BO, video, tv)..... even more with merchandising (like; Transformers with the Hasbro/Takara...) for reason of comparison, just the Theatrical Box-Office earnings is a good benchmark of movies... hence, this is the figure used when referencing Box-Office (of course more earning/revenue will come through video/blu-ray/itunes....etc).

This is a good, thorough review:

The ending was anti-climatic. The Us armed forces should have no problem annihilating the invaders without the avengers. The heroes are simply not needed.

Avatar didn't pretend to be anything it wasn't. It was simply a grandstand event movie with a simple and effective story to tell. It's not a serious sci-fi epic. Manage your expectations.

The Avengers doesn't pretend to be anything other than a loud, dumb, big summer blockbuster. And it's done right enough that it yields quite a bit of fun for me.

But let's not kid ourselves here. Neither brought anything new to the table (I'm not talking about 3D, which I don't care about). Both movies ticked the usual boxes for their respective genres, but they don't do anything beyond that.

Plus I still don't see what's so uniquely Whedon about it. All I hear is about the dialogue but I don't feel it's anymore witty or sophisticated than, say, Iron Man. In fact, some of the lines were pretty cringeworthy.

some of the good lines weren't audible. sightly ruined it for me

awesome movie. 9.5 out of 10 for me.
id go so far as to say brilliantly executed.
characters were consistent. some characters that had development off screen fared for the better. hulk for instance i think this is the best rendition.. bruce banner up for debate but the hulk is easily the most convincing of all 3 versions. even capt america suit looked campy, and the rest looked convincing, hulk, thor suit, helicarrier, iron man.
as for bruce banner, i just take it he progressed offscreen whereby he can control his rage to trigger the hulk transformation. instead of his previous attempts (previous movies) to try to control and subdue his rage, i think he now finds the balance between being angry and out of control anger or to trigger the hulk, or perhaps embracing his anger and controlling it as opposed to it controlling him. also the most fun hulk by far.

well thats just for hulk. as for the rest i can write very long review but kinda tired now but i think its nicely done when it couldve been a disaster. not just a better than nothing, its a terrific comic book movie.
i did have some grievances, but they are minor in the bigger picture.

someone asked why army didnt destroy the aliens... i think in the movie its mentioned the national guard (army) need atleast another hour to mobilize whereas the heroes are already in action. also the big flying worm/snake wouldve been hard to defeat even with fighter jets. plus the battle needed one on one to handle loki to take away his scepter. theres a lot to this movie thats overlooked by many but im too lazy to list them all down. this movie doesnt get stuck in its 'ego' is a way for me to say it.

as i said before, marvel movies and this avengers movie also is bright and optimistic in storytelling, not dark and gritty like batman/tdk. so enjoy both for what it is. atleast it doesnt try to be a copycat.

will definitely get the blu ray.. maybe even in 3d.

gotta find time to watch a 3rd time. is imax 3d sunway pyramid worth it? big bucks

This has always been an argument. If you watch the scene where Loki was first escorted in the Helicarrier and he passes by Banner's lab. He looked into the lab and gave Banner his scheming grinning smile. And Banner started holding his eyes and shaking his head off. I think that's the point where Loki got into Banner's mind and inevitably the Hulk's.
