so the human heads demo is for both DX9 and DX10? Got DX10 mode for the head? Wonder if more and more future games are built with these graphic quality, then probably GTX Ultra is the only DX10 card that will be able to fight heads on with next gen DX10 cards sweat.gif

need some advise game playing in 1024x768 reso oni, can 8600gt handle well in Trans + AA settings fully...?

sorry for too general question, i'm playing dawn of magic demo...
*
for ur game I dunno, but on most cases it should be pretty well, if it is not so smooth, try lowering the AA level, texture and shader. U can always OC ur card ab bit to further the performance icon_idea.gif

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ May 30 2007, 04:08 PM)
i wouldnt disagree... my GTX on lost planet is avg'ing on 25FPS, every setting maxed but no AA... if AA? die lol. (be it my graphic card crash, or perhaps slideshow)
*
lost planet demo is still buggy at the moment, what u see now mostly won't be the same by the time it is released

does the manufacturer matters when it comes to 8800 and other high end cards? I ve seen most of them using the same nvidia designed cooler, the difference is just sticker and logo, wonder whether they all using the same memory , PCB and capacitor?

I dont really care about bundled stuff, I always in favor in cheaper brands like palit and galaxy laugh.gif

so far I used 1 palit and 2 galaxy, those two is comparable with other big brands actually, minus the fancy packaging

Um... guys... I forgot if I have asked the same question before sweat.gif

But did Galaxy pre-oc-ed their 8800GTS 320MB??
*
I dont think so, even palit haven't come out a sonic version for 8800s

Guys, OT a lil bit..

Assuming if i am going to get the 8800GTS. When my 7300GT comes back from warranty, could i slot it into my 2nd PCIE slot? My board is DFI CFX3200 which is Xfire enabled though..

And whats the use of a 2nd video card at that slot?Thanks..
*
it is not possiblt IMO

1. driver issue, how is windows and nvidia control panel going to move between back and forth for these 2 different cards and 2 monitors?

2. by default it is not possible, but theres possibility if u can find some registry tweak or whatever 3rd party software..

about the XFX dual warranty... IMO its redundant, since it have to travel through US and waiting for it to come back. "This exclusive program is valid only to purchases made in North America (USA or Canada).

most ppl who bought highend cards are willing to change it within 2 years, eg. look on how many ppl here still using 7800GTX or 6800GT? For other brands that the local distros has brought in, all of them have 2 yrs of warranty and can be replaced ASAP locally. LYP shops only help u to claim for the first 1 year but u can go to distro urself later on.

any difference between Galaxy normal and pre-OC of 8800gts aside from the price? AFAIK, its very easy to be cheated or mistaken the normal one as OC one and vice versa. Galaxy will just put a sticker to differentiate it, but its hard to notice sweat.gif

How many of u guys change to Vista juz to enable Dx10?

when the time has come, all of us will change. Since 8 series is about DX10, and DX10 games will be coming out this year. Anyway its very "cheap" to upgrde to Vista whistling.gif

Anyone have any idea on whether i could run SLI on a Xfire mobo?Specifically the CFX3200?

And at what framerate do you guys consider as playable in term of gaming?
*
hmm.gif even its possible, I think u can only run in "software" SLI mode rite? unsure.gif

for the FPS, usually above 40 is more than enough for 22" and below screen. I think that FPS is getting more noticeable in larger resolution

Well, there is some tweak for it though. Not sure whether its workable on every mobo or not..

Anyway, anyone tried the 8600GTS on any game before at 22" LCD?How playable are they? Besides, whats the difference by turning on AA and AF in games?
*
when turning on AA n AF, it is imposing the real challenge towards 8600s, and that's where the difference between 8600 and 8800 become noticeably large. AA highly depends on ROP and memory bandwidth, which 8600 seriously lacking towards 8800. I ve clocked my 8600GT with almost GTS speed, yet still not satisfy in games like NFS C and COH, high AA and AF will really strangle the 8600s

hi finally i've decided to get a 8800GTS 640mb.. but can a 500w true power psu handle it? or i need higher power psu such as 600W? thx..
*
as minimum as 400W, its highly recommended a true power one, and combined or single 12 V rail must have at least 26A lar...

there's never overkill in PSU... higher wattage on PSU doesnt mean u ll pay higher TNB bill. IMO, a PSU's reliability is more important than its rated wattage, some rated 600W PSU might have lower 12V currents, if u doubt other brands, get Silverstone ST50EF, its more than enough for OC'ed 8800GTS as long as u dont SLI

silverstone is well known for their stability on 12V, and they really can deliver the current as rated on separate 12V rails.

oh ya.. and here is the calculater to calc the total 12V current needed
http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php

remember, more currents on 12 V is the most important.

I got 450 Watt, I think should be enough to cater 8800 GTS (320 MB version)...

I look at the length of the card, 8 series seems pretty long, I wonder it will "touch" any of my mobo items like caps and all..

Any one know what is the exact length o the card?

Also, what is the price of such card now?
*
GTS is 9 inch, while GTX should be 10-11 inch.
normal ATX casing shouldnt pose a problem, caps wont block the card too as their height are still lower than the height of pci-e slot. The one u should worry is the SATA port or IDE port which are on the same line as the PCI-e slot

Gosh, how lucky you guys can target those high end cards (GTX,GTS)...I am just sitting there hoping the price will drop but there aint any movement of the price at all for now..Not sure when will they start to drop...

Do you guys think 8600GT SLI will outperform a Single 8600GTS?And by how much?
*
oh man... now u re thinking SLI 8600gt pulak... sweat.gif

although it can outperform 8600gts, but the cost u spent will exceed one single 8800gts doh.gif

even SLI'ed 8600gts it wont touch 8800gts lar...

thats too low on that lost planet demo doh.gif shocking.gif

almost same as using my 8600gt, I can get the same reading at everything default... lets hope it is due to their poor coding...

I guess there might or might not be a 256bit 8600GTS. But one thing is confirmed, there will be a 512MB 8600GT or GTS. I have seen one from Calibre as well as the announcement at the Computex...
*
i dont think it will be a worth buy as long as it is still on 128 bit.
