i go in Nvidia CP force off vsync ....
but the fps still 60~63 just improved a few ....  ohmy.gif
*
its ok... who on earth will care for any fps greater than 40? as long as its stable and not fluctuating too much, its ok in any case, FPS isn't that important for RTS, esp on such an old game. And do u compare ur cpu with ur fren's? Coz faster CPU will contribute to more FPS

8900 GS: 550Mhz/1.6Ghz - 96 shaders - 256bit - 256MB/512MB GDDR3 - $200/$250
8800 Ultra: 612Mhz/2.16Ghz - 128 (1.5Ghz) shaders - 256bit - 768MB GDDR3 - $829

I think the prices for 8900 are BS... doh.gif

nvidia would never launch a new highend product at rm2k (USD 600), currently 8800GTX would cost 2.2k also

ceh...i hear palit card is not good one...not recommended even 4 the 990 price...hahaha sweat.gif
*
enough to justify ur comment isnt reliable laugh.gif

Palit is the largest nvidia customer leh, they carries the brand name like xpertvision and daytona too, and for 8800 cards, palit is totally follow nvidia specs, so hard to say good or bad when compare to other brand

I wonder why didn't those brand release a "slightly different" version of 8800GTS?? Except for the Calibre... all of them are on reference design...

Galaxy shud put a Zalman cooler on their 8800GTS...
*
there got one MSI OCed version, but still the same cooler. Probably it is just too headache to think of another proper cooler design for the heat monster 8800

EA will be releasing games like Tiberium Wars, NFS Carbon, Battlefield 2142 etc for the Mac platform soon as well. I sense the Mac golden days are coming back.
*
because nowadays it is far more easier to port to Mac as apple is now using x86 as well.

Do you guys normally turn on AA when gaming on the 8800GTS 320MB? I tried that today when i installed C&C3 on my PC.Turned everything to the max, even the AA to Level 8. Still playable but slight lag felted. Thats only on 1024 * 768 resolution for your information..

What does turning on AA affect?I cant seem to see any difference though..LOL...
*
that's no point in setting more than 4x AA for that resolution

CNC3 in game level 8 AA means 16X AA alrdy, the maximum of G80 can support.

AA stands for anti-aliasing, when it comes to 16X AA, it means the ROP of the GC will sample the frame at 16 times of the current resolution, then it will downsample back, so that it will look smoother.

but even an 8800gts will lag at CNC3, slightly disappointed, so with other settings max out, with the AA set lower to level 2 or 4, can u get 30 FPS under all circumstances?

but anyway, unless u re using some big monster monitors like apple cinema 30", theres no need to use 16X AA (level 8 AA), u wont notice difference between 8xAA and 16xAA on most monitors nowadays. Even 4xAA is very very good alrdy.

in CNC3, the max fps is locked on 30

afaik, Anti aliasing is solely GPU dependent, bottleneck or not has nothing to do with AA hmm.gif

Question on 8800 GTX - what would be the minimum PSU wattage requirement?

I know Nvidia recommends at least a 450 watt PSU with a minimum of 30A on the +12v rail.

I'm using an enermax liberty 500w PSU (32A on dual +12v rail, each with 22A). Supposed to be true power or whatever the term is.......

If add in a quad core (i.e. q6600  sweat.gif ), do you think it would be adequate??

actually, many ppl has comment on that extremeouter vision as exaggerating sweat.gif

but u should get something like SS ST56F, total 12V current are 40A, u ll never need to worry to OC like hell flex.gif

I'm running 8800GTS 320MB with CM extremePower 430w. running wthout problem until now.

btw, its on stock clock/memory speed, no factory overclocking or I try to overclock it.

Planning to upgrade to 8800GTX and change PSU also~ tongue.gif
*
have u tried to OC it before?

will it be stable after OC the GC?

higher wattage != safe+stable

anyway I dont think that CM real power is a good real power PSU, due to its weaker 12 V rails.
