Price is secondary to me, more importantly is its quality, after sales service, handling, power for overtaking, NVH, comfy etc.
*
I have the current 2nd gen CX-5 2.5L and I do not regret the purchase..build quality is higher than both CR-V and X-trail..after sales service is so-so, my previous Honda CR-V service also similar...handling is good, feels like driving a sedan...power for 2.5L is good, century sprint in 8-ish seconds and good mid range torque..NVH and comfort level is levels above the 1st gen CX-5, which speaks volumes for itself..the - point for the CX-5 is that the suspension/absorber has a high fault rate, I had my strut bearings changed within a month of ownership...last point - the X-trail has only 2 air bags for both 2.0 and 2.5 variants, why even consider that?

Got the 2018 2.0 CRV for 140k since January for the specs, SPACE, comfort and reliability.

No major issues so far except the occasionally rattle here and there. FC is not great and avg about 10KM/L for city and highway but adequate power for family use. Front looks good and back looks are subjective...

CX5 2.0 GL has poor specs - and no LED lights and no leather seats which is a must for me. Handles better than the CRV and looks good.

X trail 2.0 - super dated interior and lousy specs with 2 airbags only! Under powered when i tested it. Unless you take the 2.5 but thats another grade altogether...

I personally like the Forester 2.0iP also but wife didn't approve lol

Just my 2 cents, hope you find what you like soon
*
Yours FC kinda high.

I notice my wife's on 13.7KM/L on her 1.5T-P

As a 7-seater SUV, it should come at least with rear air-cond vent, or better still with 3rd row a/c vent too like Sorento, etc.
But it only has front a/c vents and the 2.0 is under powered.
Did not try the 2.4 version though.

The interior is very dated too. Seems like I’m stepping in to my previous Lancer GT from 2008.

if just looking at a/c vents and dated interior, yes its not the best. But u overlooked the extra value in 2.4 version which sells for 155k included 4wd, extra 2seats, extra 1airbag, led headlamp, powered tailgate, bigger boots. the build quality of Mitsubishi chasis and parts is much better compared to cx5 and crv. just the fc is higher than both but u get all terrain suv and safe suv to transport your family.

Yeah, and thats with a very light-footed driving style!

Should have bought the 1.5T, save on the road tax and petrol to pay higher for the instalments.

Hope after the 10k service, the FC will improve a bit....

How old is this generation of Outlander? I notice there is a RM13k discount currently hence I suspect a facelift or new model coming out soon?
If not that it make a compelling case against CRV and CX5

Never tried the CX-5.

I'd go with the CRV simply because it has a Turbo engine, LED lights and fairly nice interior (except the gear lever).

Speaking from an owner's perspective, I really like the X-Trail (2.0L version). It's not fast off the line, but as far as I can tell it's mostly because Nissan programmed it to be as smooth as possible. Cornering wise it is also pretty stable and fun. It struggles slightly going up hills but otherwise power is adequate. You're not supposed to speed in an SUV anyway given its high CG.

Edit: The X-trail's engine is much quieter than the CRV's. I'm not referring to the turbo whistle.

erm...cx-5 2.2d also has turbo engine...and led lights...and premium interior

the current outlander is the new facelift with dynamic shield face. the 13k discount applicable to 2.4 CBU Japan stocks only. so after discount will cost RM160k+. that CBU model is even more solid and quiet. u can observe the key welding points between ckd and cbu. the suv also have high ground cleareance but low center gravity for all terrain and curising on highways. the 2.0 is underpowered.

if looking for premium suv, mazda cx5 2.5 is good buy.
if looking for value for money family suv, the outlander 2.0 is good buy.
if looking for all round including fc n resale value, the crv 1.5t is good buy.
if looking for used suv, x-trail is good buy.

CRV looks like one you're driving to pasar malam to buy groceries and pick up the kids at school whereas CX5 looks like one you will be driving to a 5-star hotel to pick up guests.

Thanks! The strut bearings were defective right from the start, and not only myself but others are facing the same problem as well..the good news is that no issue after the replacement change
