Thanks for the heads up  notworthy.gif . Yup already upgraded my streamyx to unifi lite just now through unifi portal. Kinda convience  sweat.gif The installer will come tomorrow morning  sweat.gif

My place can only reach until 10mbps. Probably if got fiber optic coming will definitely upgrade further  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
If your place only up to 10M, why they called about upgrading to 30M?

Anyway, eventually its up to you to upgrade based on affordability and your usage. Some Streamyx users have said that they have been offered upgrade to 10M while maintaining their existing Streamyx price like RM88 etc. Not sure what is the criteria for the selection. Whether it is out of town areas or in non-fiber area.

I still prefer my own Android box. tongue.gif

Yes, I intend to cancel Ruby too if it is allowed but after a year. Well, though chances are low but will fight for it since I will still have Jumbo package after all.
*
Chances are low as you cannot make any changes to the package to be entitled for the RM200 discount.

I wonder when they will half the price as promised in Budget 2017

I'm thinking they won't but will offer speed increases instead.
And the logic?
It's cheaper to offer bandwidth upgrade because not everyone can use all that extra bandwidth so their cost increase will be minimal whereas a price cut will immediately impact their income stream and thus their profitability and ultimately TM's stock prices.
*
I still think that they will just say that the 100M package is RM179-199 and users are getting around RM200 discount already. So its already half the advertised price.

While I hope it will be really halved, I cannot imagine for example a 100M package for RM95. Not now anyway. But we can hope.

Looks like they are making changes to the packages. Jumbo Lite pack was listed earlier but it does not show now. There is Ultimate pack instead of Jumbo.

I saw on the other thread that they have also changed terms about termination. It used to be RM500 for termination penalty fee. Now you have to pay the full price of subscription fee for the remaining month left as the penalty fee.

So I guess if you're under contract and there is some new better package, and they don't let you switch because their system does not allow it (as some users have experienced before), then if you terminate to apply as a new user, maybe you'll have to pay up the remaining subscription also. So no point switching. Maybe in previous promotions for example RM139 30m, maybe many RM179 30M users wanted to switch. But now there will be not much point switching.

This is probably why they have put the discount in the Internet part. For example RM189 100M can show as RM299 - RM200 discount = RM99. The penalty fee is based on RM299, not RM99.

I am waiting for the day when TM UniFi offer internet only. No free phone calls, no set top box, no UniFi TV, no jumbo pack, no free Ruby, no Aneka, No Varnam.

I think they are alot of people like me who just want that.
*
Yes, I think many users would want internet only package. But I think HSBB was marketed with multi-play / triple-play. I think this is why others using TM HSBB infra also cannot provide internet only. For example, Maxis has to include voice as well. At least 2 out of the triple-play and cannot be only internet data.

Its unfortunate that the HSBB infra was not formed by a consortium of telcos / celcos / govt which would deploy and maintain the nationwide infra. And each player would then access it to provide whatever packages they wanted to provide to users. I think consumers would have benefited much more that way. Instead of one player having control over it. This would have allowed for many small players to even focus on providing good service in smaller areas, not necessarly have to provide nationwide coverage. The industry would have also benefited that way.

I think there are 3 ways that Unifi internet only would be possible.
1. Competition from a existing player such as Time if it can increase its nationwide coverage especially to residential houses.
2. Competition from a new player such as Broadnet if it can deplay a nationwide infra and offer better rates.
3. TM itself makes changes to its policy or keep offering high discounts on packages which effectively means you are getting the extras for free.

Yes. We don't get any upgrade or price reduction for years even with advances in technology or based on customer loyalty etc until they are told to do so.

Building another HSBB is not cheap and cost effective. We may learn from UK and Australia, TM shall be spilt into TM NBN/Openreach (manage infra) and TM ISP (Unifi), which may merge with Axiata's Edotco and Celcom respectively.
*
Yes, new infra is not easy to do now. That's why it should have been done from the beginning. Well, hopefully users will benefit more in these next 2 years as things progress.

Looks like this is the current campaign.

https://unifi.com.my/sana-sini/index.html

Previous RM139 30M Bonanza was said to be RM40-60 less than normal price at that time. But it turns out its RM20 less than current campaign as the RM179 30M now includes STD20.

Previous RM189 50 Bonanza is now at RM199 50M but includes STD20 and Ultimate pack.

Also,
No more Jumbo Lite pack. And no sign of RM99 10M plan.

ya, looks like it... only 3 speeds.

50mbps is thrown out!

then again, we know they have been actively calling 50mbps users to +rm20 to go 100mbps w/o new contract.
*
There is still 50M by adding RM20 to the advertised RM179 30M package..

I think previously RM189 50M did not have STD20 and Jumbo pack. Now RM199 50M has STD20 and Ultimate pack.

But as you say, old users could also get 100M for RM199 with the addition of RM20.

Just too many variations in their pricing.

And their termination terms has changed as now the penalty is you basically pay up the full price, which means no point cancelling. I think this is to prevent users from terminating and re-applying for new cheaper promo packages, as they must have learnt from recent promos they had. This does not apply to users under contract from earlier this year or before that. But if a year or so down the line, you renew your contract due to some change in your subscription, I think you will be subjected to this new termination terms.

Hi, I’m currently using 10Mbps package at RM155.95 all in price.
Any other better packages to recommend?
*
Depends on what speed you want and how much you willing to pay.

I guess yours is RM149 10M with free voice?

There was a RM139 30M which would be RM159 with free voice. You should ask TM or some agents if you can upgrade with an extra RM10. Or find out from them what other upgrade options you have.

That I am not aware. But I know that my bro is paying RM189 + RM30 for 100mbps + Ruby.
*
Yes, some others are paying less. All sorts of variation of prices nowadays.

At the very least, look at the current promo for comparison with yours. RM199 for 50M with the add-ons included. So its RM50 per month less than your RM249. Not sure if you're under contract. See if its suitable to switch. Or re-apply. Even with old termination fees, it may still save you some.

to be exact, it is RM20 cheaper, since it comes with one of those subpack, not the Jumbo/Ultimate pack. Anyway I am going to wait for my next month bill to come, and will raise hell if my RM70 discount is permanently reduced to RM30.
*
Actually, the RM199 50M is Advance Plus plan. It includes Ultimate pack and STD20. Check the terms and conditions,

Not sure if you have STD20. So its at least RM50 cheaper then RM249. You should find out more details from them and see what you can do about it.

Do you know if the T&C for this is the same as the previous boananza offer late last year whereby the RM139 price is valid for 24 months only and then back to normal price?

I'm sibeh confused now...

Last week I got a call from TM upgrading me from VIP10 (RM149) to Unifi 30 + Ruby for 10 bucks extra (RM159), this is at my old house. WITHOUT contract.

Today my wife got a call from TM wanna upgrade from Unifi Lite (RM129) to Unifi 30 with free HyppTV installation for 10 bucks extra (RM139), this is at my new house. Since my Unifi Lite baru less than a year, this upgrade sure comes WITH contract.

Then last year my in-laws kena upgrade from VIP10 (RM149) to Unifi 30 for extra 30 bucks (RM 179). WITH contract.

So now I have 3x Unifi 30 packages ranged from RM139, RM159, and RM179 respectively...

Why TM so inconsistent one...? rclxub.gif
*
The old VIP10 RM149 has free calls STD20. Add RM10 to RM159 for 30M should still have the free calls.

The 10M RM129 does not have STD20. Add RM10 to RM139 for 30M should not have free calss.

STD20 cost RM20 extra. So both the above packages are the same in the end.

Last year 30M was RM179. That time there was no 30M for RM139. But that 30M RM179 should have got offer either for free upgrade to 50M or add RM10-20 extra for upgrade to 50M or 100M.

Also:
The current RM199 50M offer is not new or exclusive as stated. This package was already stated since around April under the SanaSini campaign. Many users are on 100M RM179-199 now.

The current 30M RM139 is repeat of the offer from late last year or early this year.

I didn't read fully all the discussion behind but I think someone may have mentioned on the reduced pricing for 30MBPS (179 --> 139) and also 50MBPS?

I signed up for 30MBPS @ 179 sometime late last year (around Oct/Nov), and very soon after that the 139 promo came out. I tried unsuccessfully to get the new pricing.

Understand now the latest Raya promo is also essentially the same thing, and I tried and failed again to get the new lower pricing. This time around I have requested for an escalation with report number, but I doubt anything will happen.

Anyone successful so far in getting the new price while under contract? Any tips on how to do it?
*
I think there were a couple of users here who managed to get their price reduced. Maybe by going to TMPoint and asking / reporting / demanding for it. But mostly they won't do it because they get less money from you. Unfair or not that some users pay less and some pay more is not their concern. Its getting the same amount of money from you or preferably more is what they want.

It should be a matter of time that you will be offered to upgrade to 50M for extra RM10-20. The current 50M is at RM199, so if you are willing to pay or need that higher speed, I think if you say you want that higher package, you will get it. Even though they say the promo is for new users.

If you want to keep the 30M package, either you have to try and fight for it or you can apply a new line under the RM139 promo. Then terminate your old one with penalty fee. I think its RM500. You will recover that in a year since you save RM40 per month. By then there will be new packages. Or you will be getting upgrade offers again with additional RM (or maybe even free).

Note however that the RM139 package price is supposed to be for 2 years only then goes back to RM179/199. Also termination penalty for these new packages are different, you practically cannot terminate as you have to pay up the full priced balance of the contract. Check the T&C.

My old plan for 6 years they did said the same thing will revert back to original amount but they never did.

Actually you cant request to reduce because the contract you signed is for that current plan not a cheaper plan but who manage to get it lucky for them.
*
Plans from 6 years ago or even 1-2 years ago did not have such terms. It was a fixed price with a 2 year contract. The price remained when the contract was over.

This reverting back to full price after contract only started last year when the RM139 promo came out. The termination penalty based on full price was also introduced earlier this year.

It is likely that the revert in price would not be an issue because within the 2 years you will be offered upgrades. But it may be a problem maintaining the RM139 price after contract unless prices / speeds are revamped in the near future.

yep, was on VIP10 at RM149, downgraded to Unifi 10 at RM129 either in Jun/Jul 17
then added RM10 to Unifi 30 under retention 2017
*
When you went from RM149 VIP10 to RM129 10M, they should have removed the voice plan I think. Then when you add RM10 back to RM139 it would not have STD20 like many others. If you still have STD20, then you are lucky, good for you.

QUOTE(phoenixxx @ Jun 13 2018, 04:19 PM)

My T&C was:
- contract reset to 24 months
- HyppTV remains the same
- No free calls (I was on RM179, which didn't have free calls) - not too hung up on the free calls
- Importantly, the penalty for termination under this promo is to pay up the balance, and not RM500, as mylinear mentioned previously
*
Just to make it clear, the termination fee is based on full price. For example, your price is now RM139. The full price is RM199 after 24 months. If you terminate after say 6 months, the termination fee is 18 months balance X RM199 full price (not RM139).

Anyway, its good you got it without problems. I think after a few months you will start getting agents calling to offer more upgrades.

Issues with MYNIC: https://www.lowyat.net/2018/164585/mynic-se...names-affected/

Switch to OpenDNS for now, 208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220.
*
Lucky there is an update at the end of the article about the issue. Because it was not true that all .my domains not accessible around the world etc as the article started off with. Its just Google DNS and a couple of others that were not resolving .my due to problem on Mynic side. As the update says, its DNSSEC issue at Mynic side. If DNSSEC was not in use by resolvers, .my domains were being resolved properly by Mynic side all this while. Just like when using 1.9.1.9 or OpenDNS etc, there was no problem. Nothing sinister about the issue. I guess only problem is due to holidays, the response for fixing this from Mynic is a bit slow.

Actually it's true, around the world also will face this problem.

The temporary solution is to use a DNS server that doesn't validate responses with DNSSEC then you won't affected by MYNIC's DNSSEC issues.

DNS servers that don't use DNSSEC include 1.9.1.9, 202.188.18.188 (both TM's) and OpenDNS.

*
As you say, it was only a problem between certain DNS servers using DNSSEC. For example, Google DNS was responding correctly if DNSSEC was not used.

Anyway, it seems to be fixed now.
