Here's my best one, not a Mikrotik btw. It's an Aztech FG7008, the one that Singtel at one time gave with its 500mbps plan. Cheap. I got it for RM175 approx from SG.

It's wifi (speed & coverage) is really, really good. I sold it so I didn't have more time to play with it. Might get another one later. Bonus is that it doesn't have external antennas.

Wa fg7008 too good alr. Singtel stopped giving out quickly after they started, switched to some other shitty arcadyan router.

It's not bad. I really like it. It works fantastic as an AP. It has a fairly beefy dual-core cpu so Unifi's 100Mbps poses no problem to it. Aztech has an office -- I think it's more a sales office -- in PJ somewhere and they replied to my support related email on the same day. Kinda miss Aztech. During the Streamyx days, all my modems were from them.

The only problem with this router is the firmware. You have to use an older version. Newer versions causes PPPoE to fail to connect to UniFi. Not sure if they've fixed that. Another little problem, which can be fixed in the routing table, is that they use 1.0.0.0/8 for their internal walled-garden. This would have been fine a few years ago but not now as more and more of 1.0.0.0/8 are used on the internet.

Have you checked out the latest stock fw (non singtel)at
ftp://ftp.aztech.com/support/SINGAPORE/AD...22.6s.3-006.zip

Changelog:
1. Change Telnet, SSH and console passwords to last 4 serial + last 4 MAC (ports were already 48599/48598)
2. Fix for multiple IGD devices shown in Windows File Explorer->Network->Other Devices.
3. Resolve Quantenna 5GHz module intermittently disconnect clients due to reboot.
4. Fixes for VantagePoint vulnerabilities
5. Implement DNS Hijack for 4G Dongle when RG detects dongle connected
6. Fix Network Diagram shows disconnected clients with DHCP lease and does not show connected clients with static IP.

Seriously i think even TM upgrade most user to more than 100mbps,their bullshit bandwidth to international network still not enough for use. In the end,the TM international gateway might congest...

Thats the whole point. Good thing is it doesnt work on torrent esp when peers are local doh.gif

I found out that M1 singapore is 28.7% owned by Axiata berhad (khazanah) and is the largest shareholder. Tm probably is gonna try be like them. Anyway both m1 and tm primary colours are orange and blue..

i agree.  800mbps  makes sense  since malaysia is a big country  compared to singapore.    the backbone fibre in malaysia is different than of singapore's.

they limit it to 800mbps.  just to be sure it can deliver the promised speed to customers.    coz its hard to hit 1gbps with current hardware.  unless tm provide and use 10gbps fiber line and hardware .  then  they can provide 1gbps to customers.

unlike singapore.  singapore can provide 1/2/10gbps internet speed to customers  because their fiber line to home and BTU and router is different from ours.  their hardware is 10gbps rated.  not like ours (1gbps rated)
*
That is not true. 800mbps is due to pppoe overhead. Singapore doesnt use pppoe anymore hence the 1gbps. Normal gpon (ftth) can go up to 2.4gbps

it should handle <867mbps as per specs, no?

was this figure for handphone 2.4ghz as specs does say 400mbps for 2.4ghz.
everyone's so excited... biggrin.gif

I can verify. It is really arnd 400mbps max, and if using shit client then maybe only 200mbps.. (even tho both 866)

For 800mbps lan to wan (wired connection to pc) the dlink can already handle (its used for starhub sg fibre). Maybe even the tplink, shd be at least 700mbps. Only get new router if u need faster wifi.

I use my own 1300 router (netgear r6300v2), max link rate oso arnd 400mbps. Most 1300 routers shd be around there

Also for those peeps using mikrotik, u may need to disable qos so that NAT can be hardware acclerated (cut through forwarding)

For unifi basic 30mbps, do u guys think one of the data topups will be "unlimited data topup for x days" , similar to unifi mobile?

That, i think... u r the 1st one here to say asus rtac1300uhp is kinda crap.

I m using it, since dec 17... full speed, ethernet or wifi up to 50ft.

Of course, 5ghz, not 2.4ghz.
I was commenting in the context of 100mbps->800mbps.

For this group, they were surely given a new router, likely the tplink ac1200 which many like me replaced quickly.

I hv no idea if that router can do 800mbps but if asus acrt1300uhp cannot, it is already clear.

So, tm will dish out a new foc router again? blink.gif

Or they will insist 800mbps ethernet only, not wifi?!

Yes only lan , no wifi

Just make it simple like the ISP in Singapore. Providing subsidies for the router.

M1 gives u a choice, router subsidy or crap router. Singtel and starhub just dont bother
