Here's my best one, not a Mikrotik btw. It's an Aztech FG7008, the one that Singtel at one time gave with its 500mbps plan. Cheap. I got it for RM175 approx from SG.

It's wifi (speed & coverage) is really, really good. I sold it so I didn't have more time to play with it. Might get another one later. Bonus is that it doesn't have external antennas.

It's not bad. I really like it. It works fantastic as an AP. It has a fairly beefy dual-core cpu so Unifi's 100Mbps poses no problem to it. Aztech has an office -- I think it's more a sales office -- in PJ somewhere and they replied to my support related email on the same day. Kinda miss Aztech. During the Streamyx days, all my modems were from them.

The only problem with this router is the firmware. You have to use an older version. Newer versions causes PPPoE to fail to connect to UniFi. Not sure if they've fixed that. Another little problem, which can be fixed in the routing table, is that they use 1.0.0.0/8 for their internal walled-garden. This would have been fine a few years ago but not now as more and more of 1.0.0.0/8 are used on the internet.

Seriously i think even TM upgrade most user to more than 100mbps,their bullshit bandwidth to international network still not enough for use. In the end,the TM international gateway might congest...

i agree.  800mbps  makes sense  since malaysia is a big country  compared to singapore.    the backbone fibre in malaysia is different than of singapore's.

they limit it to 800mbps.  just to be sure it can deliver the promised speed to customers.    coz its hard to hit 1gbps with current hardware.  unless tm provide and use 10gbps fiber line and hardware .  then  they can provide 1gbps to customers. 

unlike singapore.  singapore can provide 1/2/10gbps internet speed to customers  because their fiber line to home and BTU and router is different from ours.  their hardware is 10gbps rated.  not like ours (1gbps rated)

it should handle <867mbps as per specs, no?

was this figure for handphone 2.4ghz as specs does say 400mbps for 2.4ghz.

That, i think... u r the 1st one here to say asus rtac1300uhp is kinda crap.

I m using it, since dec 17... full speed, ethernet or wifi up to 50ft.

Of course, 5ghz, not 2.4ghz.
I was commenting in the context of 100mbps->800mbps.

For this group, they were surely given a new router, likely the tplink ac1200 which many like me replaced quickly.

I hv no idea if that router can do 800mbps but if asus acrt1300uhp cannot, it is already clear.

So, tm will dish out a new foc router again?

Just make it simple like the ISP in Singapore. Providing subsidies for the router.
