Yeah, Telin is weird, it goes to Germany then SG then HK? Maybe the GEO-IP database hasn't been updated yet.
Where's your proxy located?

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jul 13 2018, 10:51 PM) Difficult to say. Asus, at one time, had problems with leaking capacitors, maybe a bad manufacturing batch? Mikrotik also had the same problem with their RB4xx series. I'm sure other brands also have some similar problems. Maybe heat is a contributing factor. I've read that some of these hi-end wifi routers run really hot. I dread opening a router and seeing that it comes with a 12V 3A PSU. Mikrotik stuff tends to have fairly low power requirements, the hEX is up to 5W and the hAP AC, currently their fastest wifi router, is 17W. Seems like Asus routers faced quite a lot of failed wifi chips. Seems like these devices are either made with cheap components or have very poor cooling solution. Looking into amazon and newegg reviews shows most high end asus routers failed less than one year. Not a complete failure but mostly the 5G or 2.4G stops working and requires a reset which leads to a total failure not long after, despite the reset.I'm looking to buy a new AC router, mikrotik is nice but the wifi is spotty at best and no amount of configuration can fix it. Asus routers are nicely featured but high in price and quality is questionable to say the least. I'm using an old Asus rt-n16, it's been more than 6 years (using it since streamyx, now unifi), still going strong with tomato toastman f/w. Paid like RM300 something back then and this thing is well worth it's money. Too bad nowadays tech not so reliable anymore. |

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jul 13 2018, 11:26 PM) Not sure. Based on ping, 33ms from Batam vs 200ms from HE HKG. So it's a lot closer to Singapore/Indonesia than Hong Kong. GEO IP databases showing 2 different locations for that IP, HKG and ID. Maybe they just moved it. I don't know. maybe test again next month after they have time to update the whois data and geo ip. lulz i'll be honest, I don't have damn clue about any of this whois is may be out of date since it's manually updated. Mine shows me in PJ when I'm in Kajang. |

QUOTE(go626201 @ Jul 13 2018, 11:46 PM) Seriously i suggest put a usb fan blow to Asus router to cool down it is a way for longer lifespan. Malaysia weather cannot la no active cooling. I even put a small fan for my btu and router. It helps a lot.I also using the method to cool down my asus AP,quite cool but i think may lose abit wifi performance. Example: [attachmentid=9914427] |

Took Thursday to Tuesday (6 days) for them to come and change. That's after I call everyday and demand to speak with manager on Sunday then only they rush it. Terrible experience.i thought if it broken,tm change free for lifetime. And its heat not very hot, open whole year also same temp. |

QUOTE(wilson1stop @ Jul 14 2018, 05:07 PM) FYI, 60GB quota was written inside every UNIFIers agreements since N years ago. We know this, it's not a secret. When unifi first came out it has a quota and everyone was protesting in facebook and boycotting it. TM cave in and "suspended" the quota system to please everyone. It was only a matter of time before it will resume but of course, nobody knows for sure if it will.it's was subject to TM decisions, 60GB is more than enough for entry levels. It's just RM79 after all... |

QUOTE(5p3ak @ Jul 14 2018, 06:01 PM) My area finally got Unifi, currently on streamyx, planning to sign up for the Edu pack then wait for the speed upgrade. Register unifi, after finish install then cut streamyx. Zero downtime.Question, what is the time taken to switch from Streamyx to Unifi? How many hours of downtime? Do I need to take whole day annual leave? I know there are lots of variables here but my property is landed not high rise. |

Why still need to register to get the free upgrade? Honestly, who would NOT want a free speed upgrade while paying the same amount each month? Bodoh la TM go die la waste people's time.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jul 15 2018, 02:28 AM) Later someone sue TM because his kids download all sorts of stuff in one hour and blew up the PC. If TM didn't automatically upgrade him to 800Mbps, he would have an extra 7 hours to prevent that from happening. (I think the maths is a bit wrong. Will correct tomorrow.) If i'm not mistaken TM already had a tnc that roughly states they can change tnc without user's consent. Now suddenly they want consent? Hah puh-lease. Logical reason would be to lessen the blow on their network's bandwidth because you have to opt-in instead of everyone just gets a free upgrade. If someone forgot or didn't know about it then lucky TM can skip a few accounts, save a few bandwidth and more profit too boot. When doing shady things that profit them they can change it without the customer's permission. If it doesn't then they expect customer to jump hoops, sign here, do this i.e. make it annoying enough that only a small group of people would do it. |

QUOTE(ClarenceT @ Jul 15 2018, 07:48 AM) Who knows TM may let you re-select / confirm the package, eg Pro 100 or Advance 30/50 to Turbo 100! Lite 10 is not upgraded to Pro 100 but Turbo 100! No such free upgrade from streamyx to unifi. You can't select anything, it's either your eligible or not. Eligibility depends on your physical hardware, if it's vdsl then your screwed because most can only support 100Mbps. So if your using 30Mbps, you might not even get an upgrade because I don't see any mention of x3 speed upgrade. Also some people may refuse to upgrade, especially those from Streamyx to Unifi because of phone number or re-wiring or pricing. QUOTE(ClarenceT @ Jul 15 2018, 07:48 AM) Anyway, from 2019, we can buy Unifi Basic 30, Turbo 100, 300, 500, 800 only, and Lite/Adv/Pro will become obsolete. Source? Or else your just talking nonsense. You can speculate but until TM release an official pricing then it's anyone's guess. |

QUOTE(ksking @ Jul 16 2018, 12:32 AM) Yes there is a penalty for downgrading regardless if your in contract or not. This is coming from a supervisor mind you, not from the receptionist or low level staff. I'm guessing you want to lower the price for your subscription then ask for a discount. Say your a loyal customer for X years and want to get better pricing because it's unfair. Be nice and considerate, don't be an asshole and they will try to help you as best as they can. Before you do anything, ask to speak with the supervisor or manager. Only they can give you discount, everyone at the front desk can't do shit so don't bother negotiating with them. |

QUOTE(biloxee @ Jul 16 2018, 01:41 AM) Logically, why would there be a penalty for a subscriber who is not under contract to downgrade? Their service, their rule. The supervisor did say he will try to waived it for my case. I didn't downgrade but instead requested for a discount. The supervisor still insist there will be a penalty. When the discount was approved, there wasn't any penalty so I didn't have to pay anything.Gullible much?... Was there a penalty or not? Who can say. It's their rule, if they want to change it they can and we can't say or do anything about it. This post has been edited by ahpek26: Jul 16 2018, 03:08 AM |

QUOTE(ksking @ Jul 16 2018, 07:42 AM) Perhaps u r the asshole? As i mentioned earlier, my contract ended, and asking for downgrade, no issue of penalty ok? Aww poor little boy got triggered, sorry. As the saying goes, "Siapa makan cili dia terasa pedas". I got my discount pretty quick, less than a week after negotiating with a supervisor at TMpoint. He even waived the penalty, applied a perpetual discount and no contract extension. Guess i'm a special asshole or something for the supervisor to do something so nice to me.I alwiz very nice to ask ppl since they r polite to me... only those asshole who r rude... |

Not sure why people so hype about this, even if you register so what? Last time it took more than 6 month to get the upgrade, that's after I registered and not after it was announced. You really think just because you register early TM will give your upgrade faster? Lulz such grandiose illusion.
