The real problem is that the Switch Region thing is not there since the beginning even back in June 2018 on v 6.6.6
How to choose region when there's NO "Switch Region" to select/choose from.

same here. wallet is in china renminbi . there is no option to swtich region
so tired of trying this wallet since yesterday. tried so many times log in and log in, uninstall and reinstall,...still detect as existing user and can’t change RMB to MYR

What if you try the same way like how you activated RMB wallet? Get a friend with MY wallet to send you money packet. Will that work?

If your friend sends you RM red packet and you can't open, then we can probably assume that your wechat account is not in Malaysia region.

How can an account is registered to other region when the phone number used in new user registration is a Malaysian phone number?
For a non-Chinese educated user like me, language is set to English and Country/Region is set to somewhere in Malaysia.

guys, I just tried redeem angpao on my rooted phone and it says not allowed, so I log in my account to my another phone which has no root, but same issue saying rooted. Any solution ? Thanks

Your wallet is in RMB or MY?

MY. If I know it has root detection then at first I would have used my non rooted phone to get the angpao instead.

I am trying to verify myself.. Anyone know y when I click add photo, it shows a page telling me what's the correct ic to upload should look like, but when I click on the upload photo button, nothing happen nor I can find a place to select a photo or take a photo on the spot?

Checked with my friend that has insider news. By end of the month can self-activate wallet yo! Maybe because when you 1st register wechat wallet, it was in other country??

As I mentioned earlier, during user registration, there's phone number detection which identified the keyed in phone number is a Malaysian mobile phone number.

Apart from that, I didn't use WeChat Wallet before.
The only thing I got is to receive an ang pow from my China friend.
The default wallet is set to RMB.

Try log out and then clear data and cache of the app in phone settings.
