QUOTE(digidigi @ Jun 11 2018, 10:20 AM) The reason why WeChat pay and alipay dos o well in China is Because China have low credit card penatration. I like how competitive they are. I can survive with just my mobile phone in China, so safe and easy.We still have long way to go if we end up with so many e-wallets which don't co-exist with each other. I really hate keeping up with so many e-wallets... |

QUOTE(hobbes1001 @ Jun 11 2018, 11:02 AM) Me too. fastforward into the future, my bet is the following will be the dominant e-wallets in Malaysia (not in any particular order) I thought Boost is doing well too? I feel that it has potential to go further. - WeChat Pay - Big Pay - Grab Pay - Touch N Go / AliPay (incollaboration or independently) Also worth mentioning that the following has yet to reach our shores but has huge potential when they finally do. - Apple Pay - Google Pay My request is all merchants should start accepting more than one type of e-wallet... |

QUOTE(hobbes1001 @ Jun 11 2018, 11:38 AM) Samsung Pay totally skipped my mind. I guess Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay will provide the best user experience but they are a different kind of wallet. They will still have a sizable market to serve. Their success will more likely be restricted to the success restricted to the willingness of the banks. QUOTE(hobbes1001 @ Jun 11 2018, 11:39 AM) QUOTE(hobbes1001 @ Jun 11 2018, 11:46 AM) I will put boost and vcash in the same category. Both are initiated by telco. I am just uncertain on how much stamina they have to compete. You gotta multi-quote all posts into one post. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=faq&article=10I would like to see merchants accepting all types of cashless transactions too but it might not be possible due to the number of terminals required and their reconciliation will be a nightmare. Maybe this is where a 3rd party can come in (e.g. like MEPS but hopefully don't act like MEPS) Just my opinion. Boost is far better than VCash though I'm a Digi user. Yes, just limit to few types and don't need to be so creative. If China, such a big country and is having the most cashless transactions in the world can survive with just two types, why not us? |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jun 12 2018, 11:22 AM) At least their reply was prompt. QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Jun 12 2018, 11:23 AM) but Raya is this weekend. Seems like having unexpected technical difficulty then. I wouldn't say 11th June was a rumour, their official team replied that and not a speculation. Could be some technical issues, not urgent in getting so I'm OK to wait a bit.Would rather the system is perfected rather than launched hastily. Anyway, have waited so long, don't mind to wait a few more days just a bit disappointed though, by the 11 June rumour |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Jun 17 2018, 08:33 PM) Wonder how long is the process? At least make an official announcement or press conference first, they should know that once the hype is gone, it's gone. According to CS' reply to me is within these two weeks but no confirmed date given.Launching it early that lacks tons of features and not able to use it is no different than the local crappy e wallets, really. |

QUOTE(JyunCheng88 @ Jun 18 2018, 01:27 AM) Hi. Need help here. It's not available to majority MY users, even users which managed to change wallet region earlier can no longer perform any transaction at the moment. It has been disabled. I'm unable to bind my card with my wechat wallet due to RMB. I tried to change my region to Malaysia but still in RMB. According to WeChat Pay MY CS team, it will be ready within two weeks time but no confirmed date is given. |

QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Jun 18 2018, 10:45 AM) I also sent feedback to their CS team 2 days ago. They also replied me saying the wallet will be make available within 2 weeks. but fruitie sent her feedback 1 week earlier than me, she also got the same feedback. dunno when is the last day of the '2 weeks'. Oh no, this certainly doesn't sound good now. Today Jack Ma is in the town to officiate the Alibaba office in Malaysia, hopefully there is a plan for our AliPay (without tagging with TnG) and will give WeChat some pressure. "2 weeks" deadline will be up soon and I will send them another reminder.
I don't bother anymore if they are opening it here or not, the team is a total failure. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Jun 26 2018, 12:22 PM) I don't see the attraction from Bigpay here, it's just your typical prepaid card that can be tracked via the app. The biggest problem for the card is it doesn't have the paywave feature, and it's been overrated on social media for some reason. First, I use it for online overseas transactions e.g. Taobao. Super super good rate, no other card beats it. Can swipe physically in overseas and even withdraw cash locally/overseas (though I will say minimize withdrawal if possible to reduce BigPay's suspicion)Doesn't that make prepaid cards like Mpay and CIMB Lazada card better prepaid card alternatives? Second, it can be reloaded with credit cards which I earn cash back. So, these two reasons already bet the rest of competitors hands down. At least for me. And it can be used for WeChat Pay (if they decide to finally open WeChat Pay here). Also, lastly, no processing fees to purchase AirAsia tickets. OT though, there is a specific discussion for BigPay. |

QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Jun 26 2018, 06:09 PM) just some updates on WeChat Pay MY, guys: Same here and received the same reply too. Pfft. Lost my interest. 2 days ago I submitted feedback on WeChat Pay MY, my feedback content was something like "sorry to say. it is totally a bad idea to fool around wechat supporters with the fake news that wechat pay is launched in malaysia since june 2018. everybody is either asking why the upgrade takes forever or why the 2 weeks take forever. and no official announcement has been made in the official account." today they replied with this: "to ensure for the better experience and services to all users, we will release the wallet service accordingly. kindly stay tune and sorry for the inconveniennce caused" |

QUOTE(ckdenion @ Jul 11 2018, 05:23 PM) im surprised too! anyway, do we really need a bank account and a number from China before activating wechat pay? one of my friends told me so and he did it during his trip to Beijing. Yes, for China Wallet.Else, just get someone from China to transfer angpau to you. |
